You have the boxing fans claiming Acosta will win but I think it's all bark. Not many of them would place on him against Rios at a dog or fave. Rios is steamrolling his opponents (so is Acosta) but Acosta is winning with counters and style. Rios is literally beating people up, old school Cotto style. All that boxing non sense will go out the door as soon as Rios applies the pressure.

There is a science to boxing, and then there is an all out fight. Rios is going to make him fight his fight. Acosta has no choice. He isn't skilled enough (in my opinion) to work a master piece for the full 12.

Rios has won his last 8 fights all by KO,Only 2 of those were sub .500 opponents and both those were KO1 and KO2. His last decision was a draw and that was 3 years ago. He was 21 at the time. Big difference between being 21 and 24. I think he has progressed a lot.

Rios by a mugging.

These lines are legit.
Straight from Foxsports.

Miguel Acosta +145
Brando Rios -185

-185 isn't a media hype.
He barely has a name for himself. He is justifiably the favorite the way I see it.

yeah but is rios even that much of a killer though? I mean he was impressive against peterson but I've seen him look less than impressive as well.

Shit, Angulo was steam rolling over everyone too and kermit cintron out boxed him and he's not even really that good of a boxer.

The one thing with rios though is he seems big for the 135 I'm sure he'll weigh 15 pounds heavier at least on fight night so maybe he does walk through acosta but that lateral movement maybe a problem for him, at least early on.

I'm not one to buy into excuses but I think Angulo's is pretty legit. He was having immigration problems plus fought with a flu. Plus, Cintron is a bad dude.

We will see what Rios is really made of here.
Not saying Rios is going to reign the division. I'd place on Soto over Rios, for sure.

Cotto was far more a technical boxer when he was coming up than Rios. It's not even comparable. Cotto had an underrated jab, excellent body work and fought extremely well on the inside.

Rios' style is more comparable to someone like Margarito or Andrade. Both guys who've won plenty fights against fighters more skilled than themselves by sheer will. There's a difference between a kid that's 21 and a kid that's 24 but Rios' style for the most part remains the same. He's fighting a lot more confident than he used in that it only takes him one round to get things cranked up but in terms of style it's all the same.

Acosta is far from a scrub. Rios has a good chance of crushing him but Acosta is a solid boxer, with good power and is running on a confidence streak. He was an underdog for his last 2 fights where he knocked out undefeated fighters.. I doubt he's worried about lines.

FNF was pretty dope tonight. Vlasov Vs. Chilemba was a dope fight and the Burgos fight was decent for what it was.

James Toney apparently sucks so bad now that FSN would rather air 4-0 fighters fighting guys that are 3-10-2 than him fighting. I thought Vargas would be fighting Santa Cruz but I guess something happened with that and he ended up fighting Cristian Favela (one of the best trialhorse fighters in boxing.) Ended up being a tough scrap for him..

86-83 Rios, that's exactly what I had.

I'm really happy for Rios.
He got his shot and I just couldn't be more excited about his accomplishment.
Great job and congrats to Rios and the whole Oxnard camp.

The boxing gym I go to is mostly Mexican's and this is what was being talked about. The pressure that Rios was going to put and you just get physically exhausted if that isn't your style. It's stamina. You either have it or you don't. Rios knows how to dig deep with the best of them.

damn acosta went to sleep!

rios gets props for making it through that, he looked like he was close to getting KO'd himself around the 3rd or 4th round I can't remember exactly.

he fights just like margarito. starts fights terribly but gets stronger as fight goes on.

Soto says his next fight will be his last.
Marquez holding out for big pay days only.

Without moving around Robert Guerrero is the only person that can really pose a great threat to Rios, and really The Ghost would have to take the first 4 rounds of this fight and duplicate it 2 more times.

You can give Katsidis a shot but I don't see it being any different than another domination by Rios. You can throw Funeka in there but that's more of a freak show that no one really wants to see.

Katsidis vs Rios is a war on paper.

Looking forward to the post fight press conference comments...

soto is retiring? that's weird.

Rios will probably have to go to 140 pounds if he wants big names. He's definitely big enough for it. The division is just too stacked not to go there. It actually makes no sense to stay at 135 beyond another fight or two at the most.

I read that he said he only wants one more fight, and that's his upcoming rematch. That was a while ago. Money always talking louder though.

Rumors all over the place right now.
People are saying Acosta collapsed later on and they took him away on a stretcher. Rios may have broken his right hand. Then they are talking about a fight with Barrera.
