He's still very raw, but watching even some of Manny's old fights he's always had that explosiveness...and I don't see that in Gesta.
LOL @ next Bernabe. Maaan, I thought he was gonna be something special.
Kinda sucks for up and coming Filipino fighters because they're always going to be compared to Manny, which is tough because really there haven't been many fighters like Manny in boxing period.
And your boy Lateef looked very very raw last night! Got a long way to go. I agree, I think he should have lost...honestly.
Yeah that Franco fight was good. You can tell both fighters lacked experience. Franco stood in front of his opponent far to often taking to many shots, hes has the talent but needs to lift more wieghts or something cuz doesn't really have power.
honestly I was really high on Bernabe at one point but I think his career was kinda fucked up they put him in fights he shouldn't have been in too soon, etc.
Plus I think now if i'm not mistaken he's managed by MP who fucktard of the century Michael Koncz runs and every fighter signed to MP has lost badly in the past couple years. Terrible match making, just terrible.

Yeah I look at it differently a lot of these guys wouldn't even be fighting if it wasn't for Pac. This is true for Gesta he saw pac on TV one day and bam, decided to box.

lol lateef looked pretty bad I have to admit. I just told my friend too watch this big african lateeeeef on showtime he's a beast. Haven't been that embarrassed since Tye Fields getting KTFO by monte barrett.
A win is a win though. He escaped with a gift, hopefully he learns from it.
Regardless, here is a video of Lateef singing. It erases all negative thoughts instantly:
Man no love for Ioka crushing 35-0-1 Sithsamerchai in his 7th pro fight to win his WBC strap? He got him with a nasty left hook to the ribs in the 5th and also folded him with a left hook to the face in the 3rd.
If that's not enough to make you like him look who he rolls with..

yeah I watched that pretty impressive for only 7 fights I was going to post the news but figured you were the only person on here that would know what I'm talking about haha

Not yet. I downloaded the card last night and I might watch it later on tonight. I saw Yoan won which I figured he would. Hopefully the WBA forces Guillermo Jones to fight Yoan instead of letting him keep the title with that one fight a year shit. I hate to see guys continue fighting for interim titles.
I heard what happened in the Abraham fight too .. sounds kind of shitty. Only fight on the card I don't know what happened yet is the Cunningham fight .. figured I'll wait to watch it.
the abraham fight was some bullshit. i guess dude broke his hand or something sucked because it looked like it was going to be a good fight abraham was being aggressive nice body shots but he ate some combos as well
bam bam vs Acosta coming up. Who takes it? I think bam bam is too strong plus I don't think Acosta has much of an inside game which he'll need if he can't keep rios off
February 26
At Las Vegas (Showtime): Miguel Acosta vs. Brandon Rios, 12 rounds, for Acosta's WBA "regular" lightweight title
I'm taking Acosta. Acosta is a good boxer and he has more than enough pop in hands to keep people off him. I've seen Rios when he hasn't been able to blow through people and he's looked terrible and was lucky to not have some losses on his record because of it.
Fighters progress. Rios is obviously better than he was 2 years ago.
He really wasn't that big of a dog in the Peterson fight. He was at +140, which is about the same that Martinez was against Pavlik. The same that Pavlik was against Taylor.
It really wasn't a major upset.
I can't see Acosta opening anymore than -200.
Also, I wouldn't be super surprised to see Rios favored at this point.
It's always best to see what Vegas thinks first.
I'm mostly banking on the fact that they aren't giving Rios a title shot to lose. He is good for boxing. A much better belt holder than Acosta will ever be.
You put fighters in positions to make it to the strap and once they get there it's all on them. Rios gets props for his crushing of Peterson but Acosta's beating of Moses is better than anything or anyone Rios has fought beaten.
The only time title fights are somewhat guaranteed is when a title is vacated and a hyped promoters fighter is in the title fight.
I'm not saying Rios can't win, I'm saying I've seen him basically lose fights before and get lucky on the cards and he didn't fight much different than what I've seen recent, his style remains the same.
Looked like some off brand site, but it was the only site I could find offering action on this fight. It should be more mainstream by tomorrow but that's an early look.

I'm just not confident enough in bam bam to put any more money on him. Naner makes a good point about Acosta and Moses. This fight is a tough one to call, could go either way. If the odds were more unbalanced it could sway me to drop some money one way or the other but not going to do it.
