interesting note: that same ref DQ'd Peterson for low blows against Bam Bam Rios.

He's also the guy that allowed Montiel to get up after he was twitching on the ground from that monster Donaire shot, Montiel being clearly out on his feet when up and he allowed a couple unnecessary shots from donaire before he waived it off.

needless to say this ref sucks

I don't know any other way to see what Mora did as anything else other than clear corruption. Literally over 20 low blows landed and a bogus knockdown. It's a shame when a high quality fight like this gets known mostly for a referee.

This year has had an abnormal amount of controversies it seems
This was probably the worst in recent memory though man. Agbeko's not far off with his comments either, Funeka got an extremely raw deal in his U.S. fights, Mthalane never getting another look after giving Donaire his toughest fight in years (including winning the 2 rounds before the cut stoppage).

Then people wonder why some guys never leave their countries to fight..

That shit adds up though man and he was landing alot on the hips too that wears u down fast. Mares won but u take those two knockdowns away and deduct 1 point and king Kong wins. Plus if the ref did his job early and took a point away or said "next time ur losing a point " it could have changed the entire fight maybe mares keeps them up. 20+ low blows is beyond extreme that's Golota status

The ref finally admits he was wrong:

The villain refused to acknowledge immediately after the fight that he had erred even after watching a replay of the moment of question in the 11th round. Mora finally came around on Sunday, though, telling his boss – Keith Kizer of the Nevada State Athletic Commission – that it was a low blow and Mares should’ve lost a point, Kizer told Yahoo! Sports. Kizer said Mora “is displeased with himself.” That’s a start. Mora won’t be suspended but also won’t be working main events in the near future. He’ll have to earn that distinction with his performances in subsequent fights. “In a situation like this, the referee needs to get with me and also with some of the senior referees here in Nevada, which I’m encouraging, to learn from this performance and improve in the future,” Kizer told Yahoo! “He’ll need to take his time coming back and build himself back up. I have a very high confidence he’ll be able to do so.” Mora has his work cut out.

Meanwhile Abeko losted his belt and his unbeaten record because of dudes poor ass calls. Give Agbeko his rematch and make the fight a non-contest.

RingTv.com has learned that Robert Guerrero has suffered an apparent shoulder injury that will force the cancelation of his fight with Marcos Maidana that was scheduled for Aug. 27.

Guerrero-Maidana was to be televised on HBO.

Neither Golden Boy Promotions CEO Richard Schaefer or Guerrero's publicist could be reached for comment.

An official from HBO said that he had no knowledge of the injury or the status of the Guerrero-Maidana fight.

According to a source, the extent and severity of Guerrero's injured shoulder is not known, but the fighter was "on his way to get it medically checked."
