Perez has fought Darchinyan, Agbeko, Mares, Agbeko all in a row. That's very tough and I think it caught up to him. He should rest for a while, then take an easy fight or two and maybe move up to 122 pounds.
For real. Props to him for taking that on but no telling what it took out of him. He might not be the same anymore.

Not to mention before coming to the states he had that fight against Mabuza where he was clearly losing going into the 12th and pulled it out in the last round. Those fights take it out of you..

couple good fights on Friday. I'm interested in seeing Kid Chocolate vs. Jesse Brinkley, as Quillin has been training at the Wild Card gym with Roach and apparently he's really been looking sharp/impressive.

He seemed like a good prospect a couple years ago then suffered a couple injuries that kept him sidelined all of 2009 and he's had a few fights in 2010/11. Hope he KO's brinkley but brinkley is probably the best fighter he's fought to date. Should be a good test.

naner, did you catch the kid chocolate fight? thoughts?
Just watched it (downloaded it, don't judge me I'm spoiled). There's a lot of things I don't like about Quillin. His style seems to be geared to only land the KO. I think he'd run into trouble against a guy who'll work just to work and can take a good punch. I'm not too much a fan of his jab either even though that's probably me nitpicking.

That being said I think this was the best I've seen him so far against arguably his best opponent to date (I think Miranda should be rated higher based on wins.) I like Quillin, I remember him throwing hershey's kisses into the audience as he walked out when he was highly touted. It's rough naming yourself after what could be the best professional fighter in Cuban history.. you gotta live it up to it.

Is Quillin out of MW then? I know his bruising of Brinkey was a super but I always figured he'd make a go at middle and to be honest it'd probably a bit easier run to a title there.

good point but he looked pretty huge compared to brinkley. With all the names at 168 and how 160 is wasteland besides Martinez I can see him staying at SM. Froch, Kessler, Bute, Pavlik, Dirrell, Ward....he can make some good money there possibly.

At Buenos Aires: Luis Lazarte vs. Ulises Solis, rematch, 12 rounds, for Lazarte's IBF junior flyweitght title
For anyone that cares Solis got his deserved decision in the rematch to win the title from Lazarte. I'd stay away from there again if I was Solis, it took him to win 2 fights fairly convincingly to escape with a draw and a split decision although this fight was a bit closer than the last one. It was a pretty terrible fight to watch though.

.. and it's sad to see Keb Baas lose his title. I know he didn't get much play but he was brought in as a scrub title defense against Nino Romero with a record of 33-20-4 and ended up kicking Romero's ass and even defended his title once.
