Tony -I guess you didn't watch Maidana vs Morales. Maidana is a one trick pony looking for the one punch KO. Maidana has punching power but Alexander has the chin and the boxing skills to be ok. Devon is going to outbox Maidana and stop him late.

Bigface- I caught that fight, it was a good, close fight that Maidana barely pulled off. Morales ain't no joke though and has officially beaten' Pacman once. Maidana is going to KO Alexander or win an easy decision because Alexander will most likely run instead of fight. There is no way in hell that Alexander stops Maidana because Alexander has no power on his punches, no effect at all... and fights are scored on "effective" punching.

I wouldn't say he doesn't have any power, he did do this against a guy who had never been stopped (not even berto could hurt him and he was above his natural weight class):

But in his last few fights I agree he hasn't been putting much on it. I wouldn't be surprised if Maidana wins though, pressure definitely seems to be one of alexander's weaknesses

Team Klitschko makes offer to Haye

By John F. McKenna (McJack): Apparently the anticipated fight between WBC heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko (43-2, 40 KO’s) and former World Boxing Association (WBA) heavyweight champion David Haye (25-2, 23 KO’s) is one step closer to becoming a reality.

A management official from Team Klitschko announced Tuesday that an offer has been made to Haye for a fight early in 2012. Rumors have been circulating for the past week that Haye would be would be making a comeback after his announced retirement on October 13. Haye’s manager and advisor Adam Booth initially squashed the comeback rumors, but “The Hayemaker” confirmed on Monday that talks were underway for a showdown with the elder Klitschko.

Haye lost his WBA belt on July 2 when he was soundly defeated by Vitali’s younger brother WBA/IBF/WBO/IBO heavyweight champion Vladimir Klitschko (56-3, 49 KO’s). In that fight “The Hayemaker” fell far short of delivering on his trash talk in which he promised to leave Vladmir “whimpering” on the canvas. To make matters worse Haye repeatedly flopped to the canvas when Vladmir drew close enough to inflict any damage. After the fight Haye blamed an injured pinky toe for his poor performance. At that point even some of “The Hayemaker’s” loyal British support evaporated.

After the fight, realizing he had put on a poor performance, Haye attempted to get a rematch with Vladimir but was unsuccessful. It was at that point that Vladimir called out Haye. VItali clearly was not amused by Haye’s antics in the lead up to the fight with his brother. “Dr. Ironfist” felt as though Haye brought dishonor to his family.

Haye had long stated that it was his intent to retire on his 31st birthday, which was October 13. Vitali again called Haye out at that time in an effort to get him to change his plans to retire. Haye however went ahead with his retirement but left the door open for a comeback against one of the Klitschko’s if the money was right.

Many boxing observers give Haye a decent chance to defeat the bigger, slower, less athletic Vitali. “Dr. Ironfist” was disappointed that his younger brother did not KO Haye and wants the opportunity to settle the score once and for all with David Haye.

That was a good shot, I'll give it to him on that one.

Hate to break it to y'all but Alexander is weak and will get knocked out by Maidana. That fight is going end in either a KO or a TKO, unless Alexander back peddles the whole fight while hollering as he throws his weak as punches. Alexander won't beat Maidana....

Broner: Fighting Rios Would Be Best Night Of My Career

Article Link - http://www.boxingscene.com

By Ryan Burton

The Boxing Lab show welcomed newly crowned WBO super featherweight champion Adrien "The Problem" Broner (22-0) to their most recent edition of Boxingscene.com's official audio show. Fighting in front of his hometown fans in Cincinnati, Broner knocked out Vicente Martin Rodriguez (34-3-1) in the third round of their title fight that took place this past Saturday.

The super featherweight division is void of star power. Broner's weight class is sandwiched between the featherweight division which features fighters such as Yuriorkis Gamboa, Juan Manuel Lopez, Chris John and Orlando Salido and the lightweight division that has name fighters like Brandon Rios, Juan Manuel Lopez (if he moves back down in weight) and Erik Morales who informed the The Boxing Lab that he is going to drop down in weight.

Broner said that getting down to the super featherweight limit isn't hard for him and that he could make featherweight if need be. The Cincinnati native said that he would prefer to move up in weight versus moving down.

"I make 130 easy. I was eating steak and potatoes and I still made weight easy," said Broner. "I could go down but why? I would rather fight where I am comfortable or I could move up to 135 or 140. I would definitely rather move up than move down."

Lightweight kingpin Brandon Rios would probably be the biggest challenge between 126-135 that Broner could possibly face. Broner praised Rios but said that he and his team would be able to come up with a plan to ensure victory over the undefeated Mexican-American brawler.

"Fighting Brandon Rios would be fun. That would be a fun night. Probably one of the best nights of my career. He is great. He is rugged and he brings a lot of power. If that fight were to happen I would have a game plan for him and I would show the world how I would handle him too."

Mares: I’m a perfectionist and I’m going to the body of Agbeko

By Allen Fox: IBF bantamweight champion Abner Mares (22-0, 13 KO’s) feels that he’s got it under control in terms of his terrible habit of tagging his opponents low left and right in his fights, and he’s not going to stop throwing to the body even if it means he’ll likely lose points this Saturday night against Joseph Agbeko (28-3, 22 KO’s) in their rematch at the Honda Center in Anaheim, California.

Mares got away with countless low blows in his last fight against Agbeko, and arguably should have disqualified in that fight by the midway point. Instead, referee Russell Mora turned a blind eye to the chronic low blows from Mares and did zero, leaving Agbeko to suffer from one hard shot after another to the groin. If this was the only fight that Mares had done this it wouldn’t be so bad. But in his fight before that, Mares was teeing off all night against Vic Darchinyan with textbook low blows. It was ugly to watch and sad to see Mares losing only point from all the low blows he thew in the fight.

As quoted by Yahoo Sports News, Mares said “I’m a fighter who always likes to go to the body. Agbeko is the kind of fighter who leans down, but you’re not going to see any of that. I’m a perfectionist and I’m definitely going to go to the body. I’m going to throw a lot of body punches. If I see that the ref is saying my punches are low, then I’m going to stop doing it.”

I don’t know why but I don’t believe Mares can control his throwing of low blows. Something about the form he uses when throwing them causes him to naturally dip too low and land to the groin of his opponents. It’s too bad he doesn’t get it, because I really don’t think Mares is going to get away anything on Saturday. As soon as he starts teeing off with the low blows, the point deductions will immediately follow. If Mares refuses to stop throwing to the body, he’ll probably be disqualified for the first time in his career. He’s had his free ride in the last two bouts, and now it’s going to be his time to pay if he can’t control his tendencies

Arum: Mayweather is our 1st priority for Pacquiao; Marquez is the second choice

By Chris Williams: Bob Arum of Top Rank says that his goal is now is to try and make the Manny Pacquiao vs. Floyd Mayweather Jr. fight happen next. However, if that fight can’t be made, Arum will be looking to get Juan Manuel Marquez to fight Pacquiao for the fourth time. That’s the fight that Arum said he wanted recently instead of the Mayweather-Pacquiao fight. But Arum received a lot of criticism boxing fans who weren’t happy with seeing the Pacquiao-Mayweather fight put off further.

Arum now says he’s working on trying to make the Mayweather vs. Pacquiao fight but let’s hope he’s serious about what he says and not just giving lip service. There is nothing wrong with a Marquez-Pacquiao fourth fight, but fans have been waiting so long and the whole world already pretty much sees Pacquiao as having been given a gift in the Marquez fight. The world doesn’t need Pacquiao to fight Marquez again and get another potential gift so that the gravy train doesn’t end. Some people think Arum is protecting Pacquiao from Mayweather to prolong the service life of his cash cow.

In an interview at boxingtalk.com, Arum said “We want Manny to fight Floyd; he is our first priority. If Floyd isn’t available or the negotiations fall through, we will go afer Marquez.”

Arum is working with investors from Los Angeles and New York to try and put together the fight.

Boxing fans want to see Pacquiao take the Mayweather fight to see if he’s legit or just media creation. I personally think Pacquiao isn’t nearly as good as some people think. He’s a good fighter, to be sure, but he’s terribly limited. We saw a little bit of that in his questionable decision over Marquez recently. Pacquiao can’t cut off a ring to save his life.

Arum has done a heck of a job of matching him against fading fighters, stationary fighters and guys that really no business being in with him in the first place. If Arum had been Pacquiao’s promoter from day 1, I have no doubts that Pacquiao’s record would now be 59-0 instead of 54-3-2, because Arum would have matched him really well.

De La Hoya: Arum, please stop lying to the public and make the fight happen

By Chris Williams: Oscar De La Hoya of Golden Boy Promotions is convinced that Bob Arum doesn’t want to make the fight Manny Pacquiao vs. Manny Pacquiao fight happen for some reason. De La Hoya thinks Arum is lying about wanting to make that happen.

De La Hoya said on his twitter “Bob Arum, please, please stop lying to the public. Sit down with my CEO Richard and make the fight [Manny Pacquiao vs. Floyd Mayweather Jr.] happen before Manny asks questions. Hahahaha. Bob Arum is saying there are a bunch of investors he’s talking to to try and make Pac vs. Mayweather. I can’t stop laughing. He’s probably going to say ‘Well, when I promoted Jack Johnson.’ Yes, I’m positive, he’s lying again. I’m sick and tired of this guy not wanting to make good fights happen with us. Please, Bob is senile and stubborn and doesn’t these fights to happen. I’ll talk about it so I can expose this guy to the fans who are demanding the fight. But it’s okay for him to lie behind the press?”

As you can tell, De La Hoya thinks Arum is a liar about his intention of trying to put the Pacquiao-Mayweather fight together. De La Hoya believes that Arum doesn’t want to deal with Golden Boy Promotions and won’t do the fight in the end. De La Hoya doesn’t say whether he believes that Arum is merely trying to protect his cash cow Pacquiao from being tarnished by getting exposed by Mayweather, but that’s what De La Hoya should be saying. He seems to be missing the boat here. I don’t think Arum isn’t putting the fight together because of a grudge with Golden Boy. I just think Arum is protecting a money-making machine, that’s all. It’s like having a fancy race horse that everyone thinks is the best horse around. But instead of matching the horse against the very best horse, and losing the praise from fans after your horse gets beat, you just parade him around and race him against lesser horses and make a lot of money each time out.

As soon as Pacquiao gets beaten by Mayweather, the Pacquiao Pay per view money will likely drop dramatically because boxing fans won’t want to pay to see a guy that lost to Mayweather. While Manny and Arum will get a nice payday for the Mayweather fight, it might dry up future paydays and make it hard for Pacquiao to get back to where he once was. That’s what I think is holding Arum back from putting his cash cow Pacquiao in with Mayweather. It’s not a grudge or unwillingness to work with Golden Boy, it’s the fear of the gravy train coming to a screeching halt. It’s like social check being sliced in half. Arum won’t want to have that happen when Pacquiao is drawing a lot of milk still without taking risky fights.

that's the thing that kills me. Both floyd & pac are at the tail end of their careers, both will be retired within the next 2-3 years. If floyd is the best and beats pacquiao, that only proves that he beats pacquiao. Likewise is true if pacquiao beats floyd. They are the top two fighters in the world, pound 4 pound. It doesn't mean the loser suddenly isn't a good fighter or didn't accomplish anything.

When Hagler knocked out Tommy Hearns in 3 rounds, did that suddenly mean Hearns was a bad fighter? Hell no. When Leonard out-boxed Hagler did that suddenly mean Hagler wasn't a good fighter? Hell no.

People are stupid.

Roger Mayweather: Floyd Jr. will likely fight Pacquiao in May

weather gave what he believes is the time frame for the Floyd Mayweather Jr. vs. Manny Pacquiao mega fight in a recent interview at dsource.com.

Roger sees the fight taking place in May of next year, and feels it’s too big of a fight not to take place. Roger doesn’t give Pacquiao any chance of winning that fight, saying “The world is going to see how good Pacquiao is.”

Roger then went on to point out how Pacquiao was fought to a standstill by Juan Manuel Marquez in three fights, but when Mayweather Jr. fought Marquez, he easily beat him. Roger also reminded fans how Pacquiao was beaten by a non-weight drained Erik Morales in 2005. Roger thinks Morales would lose to Mayweather, and he’s right about that, of course.

Pacquiao’s promoter Bob Arum is supposedly working on putting together the Pacquiao-Mayweather fight with the help of investors. However, it remains to be seen whether the fight will get put together because some boxing fans think Arum has been dragging his heels about making this fight for fear that his little cash cow Pacquiao would get beat and that would hurt future paydays for the Filipino star. If Arum doesn’t sabotage the negotiations, we could have a fight in May and that would be great for boxing fans. We would all know finally who the top fighter is in boxing. I already know that Mayweather is the better fighter, but this will be an exclamation point on it.
