I told everyone before Manny vs Mosley that this fight will answer a lot of my questions. I've always said that Manny has fought and looked good against one style of fighting since Marquez no head movement, flat-footed, and with no defense. All of his flaws was exposed against Mosley. I have been called a dickrider just for pointing out his flaws. But I knew sooner or later Manny would have to fight someone that was not going to stand in front of him like a punching bag, and world saw how he looked against Mosley.

Floyd Mayweather Jr. Speaks: "“I can get the contract. I signed my end of the bargain,” Mayweather contends regarding a fight with Top Rank kingpin Pacquiao."

Floyd Mayweather Jr. Talks About Drugs: “There’s so Much Cheating Going On, Period,”

by Johnny Walker

In a new video interview with Fighthype.com, welterweight kingpin Floyd “Money” Mayweather speaks out once again on the issue of drug testing in boxing, and more specifically, drug testing as it relates to him fighting Manny Pacquiao.

“We all know boxing is a very very dirty sport,” Mayweather tells Ben Thompson. “I don’t have nothing against [Pacquiao]. But just be honest. When I fought Shane Mosley, he had to take the test. No matter who Floyd Mayweather fights from here on out, they have to take the test, because there’s so much cheating going on, period.

“And I’m not just saying my opponents have to take random urine and random blood tests, I’m saying I have to … you can come to me at any given time and say, ‘Floyd, you have to take the test.’”

Mayweather contends that he has proof that he signed to fight Pacquiao, and that the Pac-man refused to sign, presumably over the issue of random blood and urine tests.

“If [Pacquiao] went from 105 to 154 all natural, if he’s knocking guys out at 154, all natural … I want the [drug testing] people to come on Fighthype and say he done it all natural,” said Mayweather.

“It’s so crazy that Barry Bonds can gain 15 pounds, and they’re trying to give him 10 years, and all he’s doing is swinging a bat. [But] we’re in the hurt business. This is boxing.”

In the interview, Mayweather also contends that he has been demonized by the same boxing media that lionizes Manny Pacquiao, mainly because of the media manipulations of Bob Arum, his old promoter at Top Rank.

“When I was with Bob Arum, they never said I was ducking a fighter. All of a sudden, when I’m my own man doing my own business, I’m ducking a fighter. Everybody knows that Bob Arum has been dealing with the boxing media since Ali days,” said Mayweather.

“When I was with Bob Arum, [they said] ‘Floyd Mayweather is such a great fighter, the best thing we’ve seen since Ali.’ Some people argued he’s even better, going by what they were saying at the company. And then, all of a sudden, I leave to go do my own business, and it’s like, ‘OK, Floyd Mayweather is scared of this fighter, he’s scared of that fighter.’

“But the only fighters they’re saying I’m scared of is Top Rank fighters, because this is coming from a Top Rank promoter.”

“I can get the contract. I signed my end of the bargain,” Mayweather contends regarding a fight with Top Rank kingpin Pacquiao. “I can show proof that he didn’t sign his end of the bargain.”

the contract floyd is speaking about is the very first negotiations, that's all fine and dandy if he shows proof he signed the contract, we already know the fight was killed because they couldn't agree on the cutoff date, and pac went ahead then and fought clottey. Show proof of the other two negotiations where pac agreed to the testing. that's what people care about.

and floyd started at 106 pounds and fought and won a title at 154 pounds just like manny. They were both 16 years old when they weighed 106 pounds. Exact same shit.

Floyd Mawyweather

The burden of proof is on Top Rank.... now there were "two" other negotiations???? Good luck finding proof other than master manipulator Bob Arum's words. You need to learn the difference between a "proposal" and "negotiation". Bob more than likely sent a proposal through HBO to Floyd's people and Bob never heard back, that's why he set that deadline. How could there be a negotiation if Floyd was/is on vacation and nobody from Floyd's team sent anything back in repsonse to Bob's proposal?

The other two negotiations????? LMFAO!!!

Bob Arum Called Out for Lying by Top Rank Insider

By CJ James (Contributor) on July 21, 2010 927

Defending Bob Arum is quite hard for a number of reasons. He's a famous liar, well-known to veteran fans as a promoter that tends to totally exaggerate negotiations to ensure that he comes out looking holier than thou.

Team Mayweather wasn't even the first to make these claims. It's been coming out of his own camp.

Michael Marley, the day after Arum's infamous "teleconference," came right out and said it. This was days before Leonard Ellerbe spoke.

Marley, a Top Rank/Pacquiao writer, and a close friend of Arum's, was just as perplexed by Arum's deadline. He didn't get it; he couldn't work out what Arum was up to. So he went digging.

He spoke to his Top Rank people, and was shocked with the answer. Again, this was days before Ellerbe spoke.

Negotiation just hadn't been happening. They'd started, briefly, but capitulated almost instantly, according to Marley.

Marley claimed that Arum had only spoken to Greenburg once, months ago. And that conversation was little more than Arum telling him his demands. Demands that Golden Boy just weren't interested in.

That's basically it. No meetings, no talks, no agreements, no contracts, no deals.

Bob Arum, according to Marley, just spent the next five weeks "blowing smoke to the media," to try and confuse the situation and giving the impression that he was breaking his back to make the deal.

When in truth, Mayweather vs. Pacquiao was the last thing Arum wanted for 2010.

Why did the talks fail? According to Marley, contrary to most reports, Pacquiao was unwilling to move an inch on drug testing. And Mayweather was unwilling to move an inch on money.

Pretty predictable.

As another example of the way Arum operates, it also turns out that "Pacquiao accepting 14 days" was just more "smoke" as part of the Arum charade.

The original quote from Pacquiao was 100 percent fake. Arum has admitted as much. The second quote from Pacquiao was real, but for PR purposes. Pacquiao's manager denied it was accurate, when quizzed soon after.

To confirm the charade, only days ago, Arum was asked straight up, what drug terms Pacquiao had agreed to and he was unable to give an answer.

This is a man who had an agreement with Mayweather's people? He couldn't even answer what the supposed drug agreement was?

So what actually happened? According to Marley, Arum made these claims days before anyone from team Mayweather spoke out.

Well, Arum has allegedly been fixing a Pacquiao vs. Margarito bout in the Middle East for months. But he knew full well that he couldn't make the fight without being seen to be trying to make Mayweather vs. Pacquiao first.

Plus, HBO, after pressure from Golden Boy, flat out told him that he'd have to approach Mayweather first, or they would not work on a Margarito fight.

Arum, according to Marley, approached Greenburg with his terms for the fight. Terms, Marley suspects, that were never going to be accepted. Terms, that in regards to drug testing, were even worse than the last fight.

That's basically it. Golden Boy felt Arum was not being serious, and had no intention of negotiating further.

Arum played the media, and proclaimed that he was "waiting for Floyd to accept his offer." Which, I guess, was technically true. The big lie came with Arum's claims that these terms had been negotiated and accepted.

Marley claims that this is just 100 percent false. There were no real talks. No deals. No agreements. No contracts.

In a strange way, neither side is technically lying. Most likely, after taking legal advice, they've worded it all very carefully.

Arum claimed that he was waiting for Mayweather to agree to his offer, and had been dealing with Greenberg. The problem being, his dealings with Greenberg amounted to one conversation in which he sent him an awful offer, knowing full well it wouldn't work. No negotiations, talks, or discussions whatsoever.

Arum's offer. Countdown clock. Lots of BS about "terms being agreed by both sides."

Mayweather's people are technically speaking the truth as well. There were never any negotiations, talks, agreements, deals. Just Arum blowing smoke to the press.

Why did Arum exaggerate his efforts so much? Because he wanted to set up Margarito vs. Pacquiao and couldn't justify it without trying to pin the blame on someone else.

Golden Boy? Well Marley claims that there quite literally was a gag order. It's just the fact that the negotiations ended after about two days. You can tell when the fight fell through. Arum started talking to the media twice a day!

Marley claims that Golden Boy's position with Arum is to just let him talk, and not justify his claims with replies, safe in the knowledge that most of the sport world knows he talks out of his behind.

Arum could well find himself in a tough position, however. Dan Raphael reported that Ellerbe is not only one of the most honest guys in boxing, he's also been speaking to Greenberg regularly for weeks. These daily conversations have reportedly gone on after his claim that basically either Greenberg or Arum is a stone cold liar.

Which suggests to most that Greenberg agrees with his pronouncement.

Again, Marley is a Top Rank guy, and a noted Pacquiao backer. He reported that Arum's claims of "negotiations" and "agreements" were phony, days before any Mayweather person made any comment.

Mayweather's guy's wording is probably a bit controversial, and not 100 percent true, but both Marley and Ellebre are basically singing from the same hymn sheet.

Arum completely and utterly exaggerated all claims of "agreements," "deals," "contracts," and "negotiations."

Tony-Let the Manny fans live in La La land. They never want to admit that Mayweather signed the contract and Manny was scared to fight. There's no proof of any other negotiations other then Top Rank telling people it went on. Then you have the Manny fans hyping up how Manny was going to be the 1st person to KO Mosley, only to have Manny get exposed because he can't hit a moving target or cut off the ring. LOL. Let's not even talk about how Manny didn't want to answer any questions after the Mosley fight about fighting Mayweather. The dude who interviewed Manny asked him four times about fighting Mayweather but the great Manny didn't say nothing. But yeah Mayweather is scared to fight him but he's the only one that signed the contract. But we're the dickriders for telling the truth..

Pac is only the second person ever to knock down mosley, going back to when he was 8 years old. Mosley said he's the most powerful person he's ever fought. "Pac is a tougher fight than floyd..he has exceptional power." - SSM

I don't give a fuck what chicken shit Mosley has to say. Didn't he say he was going to attack Manny and we all know that was a lie. He also said Mayweather didn't hurt him in there fight yet again another lie. Fuck Shane's bitch ass.

Manny doesn't want it with Mayweather and it's was clear as day he don't want it with his post fight interview scared to even say his name.

Manny wants no part of Mayweather period, that's why they wanted (and got) the 50/50 split, the glove size, and the 10 million dollar weight per pound penalty. They thought Floyd was going to turn it down using one of those stipulations and Floyd called their bluff. Floyd had one stipulation and Manny turned it down. He doesn't want to fight Mayweather.

Lol at bobblehead scary Manny.... I think he's doping because his head is getting bigger just like Barry Bonds' head.

Hopkins: I’m going to throw a lot of punches against Pascal

By Dan Ambrose: 46-year-old Bernard Hopkins (51-5-2, 32 KO’s) says he’s going to throw a lot of punches on May 21st against World Boxing Council WBC) light heavyweight champion Jean Pascal (26-1-1, 16 KO’s) at the Bell Centre in Montreal, Canada. It would be a huge chance for Hopkins if he does opt to fight like this in his rematch with Pascal, because in his last fight with Pascal in December, Hopkins didn’t throw a lot of punches and did a lot of wrestling and holding on the inside after throwing shots.

In other words, Hopkins fought like usually does by turning the fight into a mauling, pushing, holding type of bout. Hopkins had to settle for a draw and now boxing fans have to watch a rematch between them after the WBC ordered the two fighters to do it over again. The bout got good ratings but was painfully boring to watch, ratings aside. The good news is that the winner of this fight will likely be facing Chad Dawson next, so we are guaranteed an interesting fight once this one is out of the way. Hopefully, the WBC doesn’t order yet another rematch between Pascal and Hopkins if they fight to another draw. That would be tragic to sit through another boring 12 round draw between these two fighters.

Hopkins said “Fans can expect drama this time around. I am going to throw a lot of punches. I am going to be out of character in the way I fight this fight. It won’t be the Bernard Hopkins people have seen the last couple of years.”

Well, it looks like Hopkins is looking to be more fan-friendly with throwing more punches. That sounds good in theory, but it’s doubtful that Hopkins will be able to carry that out in an actual fight because his mindset seems to be one of punch and than grab rather than to keep throwing nonstop. Hopkins may have to up his work rate for this fight because Pascal clearly will be. That was the knock him last time out, that he didn’t throw enough punches. The way to beat Hopkins is to throw a lot of shots and not worry about throwing with power, just stay busy and it tends to put Hopkins into his defensive mode. Hopkins can’t throw punches when he’s on the defense, as Joe Calzaghe showed us when he threw over 1000 punches against Hopkins in 2008 in a 12 round win.

Judah a good possibility for Khan if Bradley doesn’t take the fight

By Sean McDaniel: IF WBC/WBO light welterweight champion Timothy Bradley doesn’t decide on taking the July 23rd fight against WBA light welterweight champion Amir Khan (25-1, 17 KO’s), then IBF light welterweight champion Zab Judah (41-6, 28 KO’s) will likely be the one to step in to take the fight. Judah wants to fight Khan, and HBO will be all over a Judah vs. Khan fight. That is a much better fight than Khan’s last bout against Paul McCloskey, which still has boxing fans shaking their heads wondering why Khan chose McCloskey rather than a better known opponent that more suited his style.

Bradley, however, may not make a decision to fight Khan until after his contract with his current promoter runs out. He supposedly is interested in the fight but there’s something that he wants from his promoter before he’ll agree to facing Khan. It’s unclear what that is. In the past, it was thought that Bradley wanted more money but who knows what he’s interested in. Whatever the case, Bradley has to make a decision soon in time for Khan’s next fight in July.

If Bradley misses this opportunity, he could regret it later, especially if Judah knocks Khan out and exposes him. Khan doesn’t have the best chin in the business and Judah would be a tremendous step up from McCloskey. For the most part, Khan has been very carefully matched since being knocked out by Breidis Prescott in 2008. If you look at Khan’s opponents, most of them have been weak punchers with the exception of Marcos Maidana.

However, Maidana’s power, while good, may be overrated. His lack of hand speed makes his shots predictable and in close, Maidana was only able to bludgeon Khan with heavy shots. Judah is a much faster and lethal puncher because of his hand speed and uppercut. Maidana showed that Khan is incredibly susceptible to getting hit with uppercuts. Indeed, Khan seemed to have no defense at all against an uppercut, except to run and hold. Judah will have opportunities all night long to land his knockout uppercut shots and it may go badly for Khan. Bradley would then have missed an opportunity to beat Khan and get the attention that a win over him would bring, if only briefly.

Carl Froch Says Neither Pavlik Nor Cleverly Are On His Radar; Focusing On Winning

Carl Froch Says Neither Pavlik Nor Cleverly Are On His Radar; Focusing On Winning “Super-Six” Then Kessler II, Move Up To 175

By James Slater: Though his immediate focus is on his upcoming, expected-to-be-tough, semi-final with “Road Warrior” Glen Johnson - with the winner of June 4th clash a step closer to winning the “Super-Six” tournament - WBC king Carl Froch has a number of exciting options for after the tourney is over with.

The most recent name to speak of a possible meeting with “The Cobra” is Welshman Nathan Cleverly, who spoke of his hopes of one day meeting with the Nottingham warrior. Also a possibility for Froch in the near future, perhaps next year, is the recently-returned Kelly Pavlik. “The Ghost,” installed as the WBC number-one at 168 even before he’d fought there, made a winning return last Saturday, as he out-pointed Alfonso Lopez over ten-rounds in Las Vegas.

Froch was there to see the former middleweight champ’s win, and he spoke to fans about the possibility of him facing the Youngstown hero. Well, it seems Froch is not in the least bit interested in Pavlik (or in Cleverly for that matter - for the time being anyway, as Froch told The Express how he is currently looking at “Clev” as a fighter who is still at domestic level).

Speaking to gathered fans in Las Vegas (my brother being one of them!), the once-beaten Froch said he is “not at all interested in a fight with Pavlik,” and that his plans are, “to win the Super-Six, then get a rematch with Mikkel Kessler, before moving up to light-heavyweight.”

In the past, a number of times, Froch has reminded fans how he and Jean Pascal have a verbal agreement to engage in a rematch once Carl’s days at 168 are done. Froch, 27-1(20) is the only man to have beaten the Canadian (in that thriller from December 2008), and Froch vowed to give the man he respects a chance to get revenge one day. Froch is a man of his word and, assuming Pascal can get past Bernard Hopkins in their May 21st return (no guarantee of that), he will almost certainly step up in weight to fight him - after he’s had the chance to avenge the sole pro loss of his own career, that is.

As fans know, “Viking Warrior” Kessler out-pointed Froch in another thriller, in April of last year. Ever since, the 33-year-old Brit has claimed he was the victim of a hometown verdict. Some fans agree with Froch, others do not. But as great as the fight was, a return would certainly be welcomed. Kessler is set to return to the ring the same night Froch meets Johnson; for the first time since his eye operation. The 32-year-old will face Mehdi Bouadla in Copenhagen.

It remains to be seen if Kessler, 43-2(32) can be the force he was pre his fights with Froch and Andre Ward, but the Dane has said he plans to “be waiting for the Super-Six winner” when the tournament has come to its conclusion. Who knows, maybe Froch will win the trophy and then get it on with Kessler in what would be a massive fight?

A lot could happen before Froch’s ideal game-plan plays itself out: he could lose to Johnson, he could lose to Ward in the final. Or, how about this for a spanner-throwing scenario - Arthur Abraham beats Ward this Saturday! That shock, if it happened, would sure change a lot of plans, for a good many people. And, as big a favourite as “S.O.G” is to beat “King” Arthur, Abraham has promised to give the fight of his life.

For my money, Ward will win a wide UD at the weekend, and Froch will also win a decision against Johnson (albeit a very close one); then the American and the Brit will meet in a tough-to-call final. If Froch can pull that win off, he could probably pick and choose who he wanted next. As long as he has kept winning in the meantime, though, Froch will almost certainly opt to get it on with Kessler for a second time. That’s just Froch’s mental make-up: he is old-school and he wants to beat everyone he meets.

So, sorry Pavlik, Cleverly - you just aren’t on Froch’s radar right now!

Marquez to get $10 million rematch if he beats Pacquiao

By Chris Williams: All 38-year-old Juan Manuel Marquez has to do is beat WBO welterweight champion Manny Pacquiao in proposed fight for November, which Marquez will be receiving $5 million plus an upside of the pay-per-view profits, and he’ll then get a rematch with Pacquiao and be paid $10 million for that fight. That’s the contract that Pacquiao’s promoter Bob Arum has offered to Marquez and as you’d guess, Marquez is accepting the offer.

The only question is whether Golden Boy Promotions will match the offer and thus keep the Pacquiao-Marquez III fight from going ahead. It’s highly unlikely that Golden Boy will be able to do this unless they’re willing to take a big hit and lose money on Marquez’s next fight, because Golden Boy has no one to fight Marquez right now that will bring in that kind of big money.

Golden Boy fighters Saul Alvarez and Victor Ortiz, the two names that they’ve mentioned as possible opponents for Marquez, are either too big in the case of Alvarez to make 144, or not a big enough star, as is the case with Ortiz. I can’t see a Marquez-Ortiz fight being a huge one on Pay per view, at least big enough to be able to pay Marquez his $5 million and then give Ortiz his money.

I’m sure Ortiz won’t like getting chump change to fight Marquez and watching him get big money. It seems like Golden Boy will have to let Marquez face Pacquiao. And that brings in the question of whether Marquez can beat Pacquiao to get the $10 million rematch money. With the fight being held at a 144 pound catchweight, instead of near Marquez’s fighting weight of 135, I don’t give Marquez any chance of beating Pacquiao. He’s too small and too old now that he’s turning 38.

It’s another setup fight for Pacquiao. He’s got another old one to fight and by having him fight at pretty much the full welterweight limit, it further stacks the deck in Pacquiao’s favor. The money that Marquez can theoretically get is excellent but what good is it if you’re too old and too small to ever have any chance of getting it? Sure wish Pacquiao would be matched against Sergio Martinez, Paul Williams, Andre Berto or Ortiz. Kind of tired of watching him fight over-matched opponents each time out.

Abraham already looks defeated even before Ward fight

By Scott Gilfoid: Photo credit: Craig Bennett/Goossen Tutor Promotions – Former IBF middleweight champion Arthur Abraham (32-2, 26 KO’s) already has a defeated look on his face even before his semifinal Super Six tournament fight this Saturday against WBA super middleweight champion Andre Ward (23-0, 13 Ko’s) at the Home Depot Center in Carson, California. Abraham has lost two out of his last three fights, including his last two Super Six tourney fights to Andre Dirrell and Carl Froch.

Those defeats seem to have knocked the swagger out of Abraham’s stride to the point where he now looks shell shocked as he continues to participate in the Super Six tournament. Some boxing fans thought that Abraham would pull out of the tourney using some kind of excuse such as injury after his 2nd loss of the tourney. But to Abraham’s credit, he’s stuck it out and is going ahead with the Ward fight, which may turn out to be the toughest for Abraham.

Ward has got the best blend of boxing skills and power than any other fighter in the tournament and Abraham has got basically a small chance of winning the fight. It comes down to whether Abraham can score a knockout from one of his big punches. Short of that, it’s going to be a long night for the German based Armenian Abraham. It looks like he knows what he has in store for him, though, because Abraham doesn’t look at all confident going into this fight.

If you thought Abraham’s body language before his last bout with Carl Froch was bad, take a look at how depressed looking Abraham is now looking. He looks like he’s heading towards the gallows. Hopefully, Abraham can cheer up before Saturday because it won’t be nearly as interesting if he’s not motivated and fighting hard.
