so you can admit that haye pulled out of the fight with Vitali because Vitali will beat the shit out of him. You believe Wlad will KO him and yet it's too far fetched for you to believe that Haye also is pulling out of this one too, even though he's pulled out of TWO klitschko fights now, scratch that, make it THREE.

Haye is milking is time as a UK celebrity. He's not a heavyweight, he's a cruiseweight. He hasn't fought any decent heavyweights. His best victory was Valuev, which was a boring ass fight and tbh 800 year old Holyfield beat Valuev more impressively. Other than that who did he fight? Monte fucking Barret.

I'm so disappointed in David Haye. I really thought he was the savior of the heavyweight division. He looks like just another english clown.

Haye did beat Valuev and none of the klitschkos wanted to fight dude so you have to give him credit for that. But i really never thought he would do much at heavyweight. The klitschkos are just too damn big for Haye. But he does have a punchers chance against Wlad because dude chin is not all that good. The size different is just two much for him we're talking about 30 - 40lb difference in weight, 3-4 inch in height Haye would be giving up to them.

The Klitschko's tried to fight Valuev for YEARS.

I agree he has a punchers chance against Wlad which is why I always wanted this fight to happen. It's a shame if it doesn't.

I understand HBO's stance though. For one, Klitscko's usually also's fight in germany or in europe somewhere and HBO does not like to do tape delayed fights.

Secondly, with all the bums in the heavyweight division it's hard to get excited about Klitschko vs ____. The only fight that HBO gives a shit about is Klitschko vs David Haye.

Vitali Klitschko vs Solis interests me a little bit just because Solis is probably the most skilled fighter either klit has fought in a long time but I don't expect him to do much either.

Kizer Feels 2011 Will Be Better For Vegas Boxing Scene

By Ryan Burton

2010 was a down year for boxing in Las Vegas. The city is known as the "Fight Capital if the World" and usually plays host to multiple "mega-fights" each year.

In 2010 the only mega-fight held in Las Vegas was the Floyd Mayweather-Shane Mosley clash in May. The fight with the second highest attendance figure of the year in Las Vegas was the Juan Manuel Marquez-Juan Diaz rematch that had a tad under 9,000 fans in attendence.

A major factor in the lack of big fights was that Manny Pacquiao fought both of his fights in Dallas. The fact that his fight versus Shane Mosley in May will be he'll at the MGM will be a boom to the struggling Vegas economy.

2010 ended with Las Vegas hosting 3 excellent fights. Juanma Lopez-Rafael Marquez, Juan Manuel Marquez-Michael Katsidis and Amir Khan-Marcos Maidana all produced fireworks to end the year. All 3 were great fights but all produced disappointing attendance figures. Each fight had between 4500-5000 fans in attendance.

Nevada State Athletic Commission executive director Keith Kizer thinks 2011 has a chance to be a better year than 2010.

"We had great fights to end 2010 but the dates were not the best. Marquez-Katsidis took place over Thanksgiving weekend which isn't the best. Lopez-Marquez would have done better on its original September date (Mexican Independence Day weekend)."

Kizer also said the weak economy played a factor. "You had Katsidis from Austrailia. Khan is from England and Maidana is from Argentina. With the economy the way it is its tough to travel those long distances."

The 2011 Las Vegas boxing schedule is starting off stronger than last year. Nonito Donaire-Ferando Montiel, Miguel Cotto-Ricardo Mayorga, Juan Manuel Marquez-Erik Morales and the previously mentioned Pacquiao-Mosley bout are slated to take place between February and May in Sin City.

Kizer's only concern is that he hopes the Pacquiao-Mosley fight doesn't overshadow the other fights.

"I just hope fans don't say I'm going to Vegas for Cinco De Mayo weekend so I am not coming in March or April. Cotto and Mayorga know how to sell a fight. Marquez and Morales should bring out the fans as well

Schaefer: Peterson The Frontrunner To Face Amir Khan

By Lem Satterfield

According to Golden Boy Promotions CEO Richard Schaefer, Lamont Peterson is still the frontrunner to face WBA junior welterweight champion Amir Khan on April 16 in England. Schaefer, who promotes Khan (24-1, 17 KOs), is currently negotiating the terms with Barry Hunter, trainer and manager of Peterson (28-1-1, 14 KOs).

"Well you know, Peterson is certainly the frontrunner. But we just have to see if the monetary terms are going to be such that the Khans are going to go for it. You know, Amir is willing to give Lamont the opportunity, and I am happy that he could get the opportunity," said Schaefer.

At this point, the two sides are going back and forth with the numbers. If Khan and his team approve the final purse figure provided by Hunter, then the fight will likely happen. Hunter believes the two sides are going to reach an agreement.

"I'm happy if I can deliver that to him, but, you know, the question is going to be the financial terms and that's certainly not going to be up to me. It's going to be up to Khan. So we are basically waiting to see if it can be done," said Schaefer. "I have to get a number [from Barry Hunter] to see what that is and then I need to take it to the Khans. I have to take it to Amir Khan, because it's up to him."

Pascal-Hopkins Rematch Ordered, Purse Bid on Feb. 4

By Richard Cloutier

A vote taken by the Board of Governors of the WBC was released on Thursday and the sanctioning body has ordered a rematch between Bernard Hopkins and their reigning light heavyweight champion, Jean Pascal. From what BoxingScene.com/Netboxe.com has learned, the two sides have 30 days to reach an agreement. If they fail, a purse bid will be held in Mexico City on February 4. The winner of the battle will then be required to compete with former champion Chad Dawson.

On December 18 in Quebec City at the Pepsi Coliseum, a packed arena saw Pascal and Hopkins fight to a twelve round majority decision. American network Showtime televised the clash and said their ratings were the highest in years.

"They will not have to chase me. I want another fight against Bernard Hopkins to prove that I am better than him and to demonstrate that the judges were wrong," said Jean Pascal to BoxingScene.com/Netboxe.com on December 21.

Despite the directive of WBC and the wishes expressed by Jean Pascal and Bernard Hopkins, we must remember that Chad Dawson, who lost an eleven round technical decision to Pascal in August 2010, has a contract clause requiring Pascal to fight him next. This contractual obligation could force Pascal to ignore the ruling of the WBC, which is likely going to cost him the sanctioning organization's title.

The interest of the American television networks, Showtime and HBO, could ultimately dictate the sequence of events. Indeed, if there is no doubt about the willingness of Showtime to televise a Pascal vs. Hopkins rematch, then the champion will have to see what HBO decides on a possible Pascal vs. Dawson return bout. As part of the Pascal-Dawson contract clause, the rematch must have the financial support of a major cable network.

Margarito Has a Good Shot To Obtain Nevada License

By Ryan Burton

BoxingScene.com caught up with Keith Kizer, who is the executive director of the
Nevada State Athletic Commission, at the weigh-in for this Friday's junior welterweight clash between Ruslan Provodnikov and Mauricio Herrera.

One of the topics discussed was the possibility of Antonio Margarito being licensed in Nevada for a possible rematch with WBA 154 pound champion Miguel Cotto. The fight is tentatively scheduled to happen in June in either New York or New Jersey but those venues are not set in stone. In order for the fight to take place Margarito would have to be licensed in either of those states.

I asked Kizer if he felt that Margarito would have a better chance to be licensed in Nevada, considering that Texas granted the Mexican fighter a license to face Manny Pacquiao last November at Cowboys Stadium.

"I don't think he would have a better chance because of that. I do however think he will have a better chance because the commission told him to re-apply in California and he did apply for reinstatement."

Applying for a license to face Cotto would work in Margarito's favor according to Kizer.

"The fact that it (the license) would be to fight Cotto and it would give Cotto a chance at redemption I would think would work in Margarito's favor."

Kizer insists that Margarito's hand wraps were clean when he stopped Cotto in July of 2008.

"The Commission was there (in Margarito's locker room prior to the fight). Cotto's people were there as well. That is a non-issue."

Kizer stressed that Margarito getting issued a license is not a slam dunk by any means and he doesn't know what the commission would decide. He does feel for the reasons above, and the fact that so much time has passed, that Margarito has a good shot at being licensed.

"By June it will have been close to 2 and a half years since the Mosley fight and the fact that Margarito didn't have any mishaps in the Pacquiao fight helps his cause. Those are all factors in his favor."

Kizer finished up by saying he thought the episode of HBO's 24/7 in which Margarito taped a cement block to his fist was done in very poor taste.

"He told our commission that it was his trainer that acted alone with the handwraps. Making fun of the situation was a bad decision by Margarito and I am sure he will have to explain it to the commission if he wants to get licensed. I am sure the commission will want to know why he did that."

ah, yeah I changed my mind. I think Wlad Klitschko just pulled the biggest duck move in the history of boxing.

Tomasz Adamek-Wladimir Klitschko to fight
Fight planned for September in Poland

By Przemek Garczarczyk

“Tomasz Adamek has agreed to fight Wladimir Klitschko in a soccer stadium in Wroclaw, Poland, in September, in front of 52,000 fans. The deal is done, we just have to put some signatures on paper,” this blockbuster news from Adamek manager, Zyggi Rozalski changes a boxing landscape for 2011.

So Wlad has his tune up fight on April 30th against Chisora, ok. Then, instead of even trying to get David Haye again he signs the NEXT DAY to fight Adamek IN POLAND. If you recall Wlad was going crazy about his demand that he would only fight Haye in Germany. And this fight will be in Sept. He was trying to tell David Haye he could only fight on July 2nd. Now he's available in Sept, which would give them more time?!

It doesn't make sense, so I think Wlad was dicking haye around.

Yeah it seems like The Klitschko's want to force Haye to fight Vitali, the thing is Vitali has a mandatory fight with cuban Solis or he will be stripped of his title, there is no way around that fight or he will be sued and he will lose.

Check out this video by Dwyer he rips the Klitschko's:

Wladimir Klitchko is a disgrace

By Shaun Campbell: The heavyweight division has been in decline ever since Lennox Lewis decided to hang up his gloves and retired from the sport over 7 years ago. Since then two brothers have dominated the weakened division, beating any challenges they faced, with a few occasional slip ups. Now finally there is a new, charismatic champion who seems to have more ambition than every one of the other challengers combined. David Haye wants to fight Wladimir and Vitali Klitschko, and I’m sure there are people out there who don’t believe that, but the case is that the IBO, IBF, and WBO world champion Wladimir Klitschko seems to be making all sorts of obstacles to prevent this fight from happening.

It now seems increasingly unlikely that the fight will happen, despite what the younger of the two brothers is saying. Klitschko still maintains the belief that he will fight both Chisora and Haye this year. But time is running out as Haye plans to retire before the end of 2011. It is understandable that people find Haye arrogant and cocky, but one thing he is not is scared to fight the best fighters out there. I am not a hypocrite and always try to give both sides of a story. The WBA champion’s last fight against Audley Harrison was a farce. A total disgrace. Not one punch was landed in the first, a few punches in the second, then finally the disappointing Harrison was knocked out in the third.

Obviously facing the Ukrainian will prove a much tougher test. He hasn’t been a world champion for all these years for nothing. Klitschko is a master of staying safe and keeping his vulnerable chin out the way of big punches. But there has never been a challenger as fast as Haye. Never been someone that hits as hard as Haye. The old cliche of speed and strength combined equals great power. The Londoner has a great deal of power.

It’s a fight that not just the British public want to see, but it now appears to have captured some interest in America. Should this fight not happen it will be an absolute travesty. Say what you like about David Haye, but there is no doubt he wants this fight. He agreed to all of the demands made by Wladimir and his team, such as Klitschko entering second to the ring, having his name first on the posters, that he won’t go to England, and that it will be a 50/50 split purse.

It seems that the next opponent for the WBA champion will be Ruslan Chagaev, who while providing a good test, will not be as difficult to overcome as either of the Klitschkos.

Hopkins says he wants to fight Bute if he beats Pascal, not Dawson

By Dan Ambrose: The WBC has granted 45-year-old Bernard Hopkins an immediate rematch against WBC light heavyweight champion Jean Pascal, who Hopkins fought to a 12 round draw against on December 18th.

Hopkins felt he should have won the fight, but he didn’t help his case by getting knocked down twice in the bout by Pascal. The winner of the Hopkins-Pascal bout is supposed to be facing Chad Dawson, since he had a rematch clause with Pascal.

The clause allowed Pascal to fight one fight in between the rematch, and Pascal took that by fighting Hopkins in December. If the WBC is basically going to throw out the window Dawson’s rematch and force him to wait longer, then the winner of the Hopkins vs. Pascal II bout should then be forced to fight Dawson.

However, Hopkins is talking about fighting Lucian Bute after the Pascal fight, and not Dawson. I figured Hopkins wouldn’t fight Dawson because he’s got a much tougher style than Pascal and is a more complete fighter. Hopkins would have problems landing his shots and he wouldn’t be able to get away with the same things he did against Pascal with Dawson.

On ESPN’s Fright Night Fights, Hopkins said “After I beat Pascal, I’d like to go ahead and get Bute and wipe out all the Canadian fighters.” So there it is. Dawson is going to get passed up Hopkins. This is why I was hoping the WBC wouldn’t force the Hopkins-Pascal rematch, because I figured Hopkins would never fight Dawson if he won.
