The thing about Pavlik is that he's not a big combination puncher, he usually is able to chop people down with a simple 1-2, or that straight right behind a double jab. With Joe, he's literally throwing SLAPS from every angle, 4,5,and 6 SLAPS at a time.

A little harder to figure out the rythym of a guy like that, plus, Joe is pretty good at giving multiple angles...unlike Kelly who for the most part is coming straight forward.

Fuck Joe though he's a bitch in my book! Dude swears up and down that he's faced top tier opponents.

He's gotten one VERY QUESTIONABLE victory, over a future hall of famer, other than that he's beaten nobody worth mentioning, and for some odd reason feels like he should be mentioned up there with the greats.

I was pretty disappointed with Jack Loew and Kelly in this fight...Loew spent a LOT of time alluding to Kelly knocking out Hopkins and dismissing critics who say Pavlik is one dimensional only to look like complete shit on Saturday. Kelly was getting beat and Jack Loew seriously just told him to "double-your-fucking-jab Kel, and then shoot the right!" -- the same thing Pavlik has done his entire career.

You read all the interviews 2-0...I mean they kept going on and on about "of course we have a plan B against Hopkins, and a Plan C, and so on..."

I felt that Hopkins would win the decision but he really pointed out the flaws with Jack Loew and Pavlik. Great fucking fight. Best fight of the Year for me personally--Cotto v Margs was good but this win is even better.

yeah I agree with that, but I think there was also a different mentality going into the fight for hopkins. His game plan wasn't to attack like he did against pavlik, which probably would have served him much better.

Another thing though, and I don't know how much these makes a difference but it's worth noting that Freddie Roach was not training hopkins this fight. Roach trained him for calzaghe and wright, and hopkins did look kinda sluggish and old in those two fights. Just something to point out.

I agree with everything you said. I really want to see pavlik get a new trainer because Loew was absolute shit, he didn't prepare him at all.

And this was by far my favorite fight of the year too, cotto/margs right behind.

Mijares vs Darchinyan is going to be on Showtime. Chavez Jr. if fighting on the same card as Donaire/Mthalane and so is Arce. I heard they're doing a PPV for that which I think Arum is fucking crazy to do. Either way they should be some dope fights.

A few things were exposed about Pavlik that I already knew. 1. He can push around middleweights because he is naturally bigger than them and can absorb their punches better and can bully them into corners where he does his best work, but against fighters that are his size or bigger, he will not fare as well. 2. He is and has always been one dimensional (he's slow too). Yeah he's a power puncher, but if the target is not sitting right in front of him, he will look average as he follows them around looking for that one big punch as B-Hop showed you. 3. He's way overrated. I mean outside of Hopkins Taylor and Miranda, who has he really fought. Be honest, Taylor is not the great middleweight HBO tried to make him out to be (he hardly had a amateur background at all) and Miranda is nothing more than a C level fighter at best who is great to watch becasue either him or his opponent will get knocked out in a fight.

But seriously folks, Pavlik's only advantage is to stay in a weight class where he has more physical advantages over his opponents. He already said he was going back to 160, but we all know his body is more proportionate to a Light Heavyweight, and Hopkins showed you he looks pretty average in the Higher weight classes. My opinion, like him or not, Calzaghe probably couldn't knock him out with one punch, but he would outpoint Pavlik easily with his speed and volume punching. One day he's not gonna be able to make that 160 so easily and won't have any choice but to move up, and he will become a nobody once again. Just my thoughts... Anybody agree or disagree???

^Agreed! I just didn't know that B-Hop would whoop him so bad though. That fight was a shut out. I don't think I scored any rounds for Pavlik.

I think I said this in a earlier post, but there has been no fighter outside of a young Roy Jones that has even come close to making Hopkins look bad. Hopkins has never been knocked out in a 20 year career, that says a lot about him. He is a legend and to think guy like Pavlik was going to all of a sudden change history is like my man Mike Tyson would say "Ludicrous". If De La Hoya, Winky Wright,Taylor, Tarver, Trinidad etc... couldn't do it, what has Pavlik done that would lead anyone to believe he had what it took to do it. Keep it real, should Pavlik even be mentioned in the names of the fighter I mentioned??? As Mike Tyson would say, well you know the rest...

Naaa Pavlik shouldn't be mentioned with those names, but I didn't know Bernard had it in him to get off like that. I think he surprised a lot of folks with that performance.

Definitely... He has execeeded what any sports fan would believe he is capable of at this stage in his career. To think at 43 Pavlik couldn't handle him Imagine had he even been 3 years younger.

Who would have thought a likely rematch of Jones and Hopkins would even have any validity to it all these years later. But if Jones can somehow get past Calzaghe, then a fight no one would have wanted to watch is now looking pretty intriguiging.

Last note, I'll tell you the fight both Jones and Hopkins will want to stay away from and that is a fight with Chad Dawson... I think Dawson wants Hopkins next, but I don't think Hopkins will be as eager to fight him after the fight with Tarver. But then again, maybe he does think he could teach the young whipper snapper a thing or two. Dawson is the truth yall. How bout Dawson and Pavlik??? I think Dawson could talk Pavlik in to taking that fight for Dawson's belts... He'd pulverize Pavlik...
