Well the difference is that Hopkins catches his opponents off guard. It's not really power, it's about perfect timing when his opponents don't expect a punch coming and it stuns them. Like I said, Calzaghe has an iron chin, but he didn't see that punch coming and it stunned him. That can happen to anyone.

Unfortunately I agree with your last paragraph though.
Not everyone gets knocked down the same. Some people can't take anything they see coming and get dropped by raw power. No way Pavlik didn't see the punches Taylor was throwing at him but they still floored him. I'll give you the Zuniga because Pavlik clearly didn't see the left hook but it was still a punch from a guy with real power. It obviously could happen I just don't see it.

Its not always power that causes knockdowns...a crushing blow that you see coming is a lot easier to take than one that you never saw, even one thats not nearly as powerful.

B-Hop tends to throw his head in face down before letting that straight right go, so usually the other fighter is more focused on not catching the head butt, and gets caught with that straight right, down the pipe.

Even still, I think Pavlik is just too young, strong, and busy for Hop at this point in his career. I'll be rooting for Hop tho, as usual.

I just hope hop doesn't get KO'd. Seems very unlikely since his defense and chin have never let him down over a 20 year career, but still, I'm a bit worried. Would hate to see a legend like bhop get KO'd or knocked down to a guy he would have easily beat if he was a bit younger.

im just mad itz on PPV!
Yeah as much as I like hopkins & pavlik this is not a worthy PPV. It's a non-title fight at a catch weight of 170, plus hopkins' style of fighting his previous two fights hasn't exactly been action packed to the average fan. Seems dumb though on Pavlik's party, they are trying to build him into a star, a PPV at this point will only isolate him.

You can always stream it live online though :)

Win or lose I have a feeling it wont be. Hopkins is too in love with the sport to leave when he should.

Plus, I find it strange that hopkins hasn't talked ANY shit at all or really even tried anything funny to promote the fight. He's had nothing but positive things to say about Pavlik and has been very kind/respectful. He's got something planned...
I don't think he will retire until he gets that rematch with Roy Jones Jr.

Yep, I think that fight will have to happen. And I know this is so unlikely, but what if Jones and Hopkins both won? Has there ever been a championship rematch fight with a lot of excitement, 16 years after they first fight?? That would be nuts.

Man, that would be wild. Both Roy and Bernard win in impressive fashion, and then face each other for their long overdue rematch.

BTW 2-0 that B-Hop gif is fucking sick !

I understand that. What I'm saying is that Pavlik gets hit a lot normally in fights. A lot of those punches he doesn't see and the only times he's been rocked were by punchers, which Hopkins isn't. Zuniga might be crude in the way he fights but he comes from a long line of Colombian chin checkers.

I think the only way Pavlik gets knocked down is if he gets caught off balance which could be done by Hopkins because he's an old pro with excellent timing. I just don't see it happening.

I've already been to the future and back, took a picture at the fight:

2-0-Sixx = 1
naner = 0

LOL it'd probably be more than 1 to 0. If I was always right I wouldn't watch boxing haha. I'm just extremely pessimistic when it comes to older fighters going against a young guy in his prime.

.. and I have no idea what it says on Gamboa's shorts. Might be a sponsor or something.

nah, it's cool...I don't really think hopkins is going to win this fight, I think he MAY score a knockdown if he's lucky. It's all hope at this point. I've rode with hopkins all these years and will continue to do so even if he's 50, fuck it. When you're nWo you're nWo 4-LIFE lol
