6'2" WELTERWEIGHT MARCOS HERNANDEZ SIGNS WITH AL HAYMON
By Press Release | June 17, 2014
6'2

Fresno California's welterweight boxer, Marcos Antonio Hernandez (1-0) has recently signed with world renowned advisor, Al Haymon. With the addition of Haymon on his team, Hernandez will now fight on the undercard of Robert Guerrero vs. Yoshihiro Kamegai this Saturday, June 21 at StubHub Center in Carson, Calif.

At age 21, Hernandez stands 6'2 and was born and raised in Fresno California. He had a successful armature career where he won numerous tournaments before turning pro at age 20. Trained by his father Joey Hernandez, Marcos is excited about signing with Al Haymon and fighting on the Guerrero vs. Kamegai undercard.

"My father and I have been working very hard to make a name for ourselves," said Marcos Hernandez. "My mentor and good friend coach Peter Lopes is the person responsible for getting me seen by Luis Decubas Jr. and opened the doors to be with Al Haymon. I know with hard work, I can become something special in this sport. I'm looking forward to fighting on Robert Guerrero's undercard this Saturday."

"Marcos is a very good kid with a ton of athletic ability." said mentor Peter Lopes. "I've seen him dunk a basketball, he really moves well for a kid that stands 6'2. He's tough and he's hungry as hell. He was sparring with Robert Guerrero for the last few weeks so I know he can hang with the best of them. He learned a lot sparring with Robert and I know he's going to shine this Saturday.

Maks Limonov, 25, Shot To Death in Russia

By Alexey Sukachev

Another undefeated boxer ended his days last night due to tragic circumstances. Former Russian middleweight champion Maksim “The Pitbull” Limonov (16-0, 8 KOs) was shot to death in his hometown of Prokopyevsk, Russia. Limonov parked his Mercedes near some apartments and opened the door, when several shots were fired by an unknown killer.

Two head wounds were fatal for once a promising boxing prospect. Limonov’s girlfriend was left unharmed at the scene of crime and called the police right after the murder.

“This is a very sad end to his days, indeed… but knowing him and the life he lived… this final, this fatal incident is understandable”, said Russian cruiserweight stalwart Grigoriy Drozd, also from Prokopyevsk.

“I know he had been shot a year or two ago. This was the way he lived, that was his earthly road. He was a good boxer and not a bad guy, who made some wrong choices. I want to address my deepest condolences to his natives and family”.

Limonov was earlier convicted for "robbery" and "intentional infliction of moderate bodily harm" and “use of violence against a public official”. He started his pro career in 2007 at the age of 18 and went undefeated over four years. Limonov fought twice overseas, stopping 11-4 Skyler Thompson in three (2009) and getting a hard-fought split decision over 15-5 Julius Fogle (2010). He scored by far his best win in May 2011, outpointing rugged Karen Avetisyan over ten for a vacant Russian middleweight title. He was never seen in the ring again.

“I’ve trained with Maks, we had mutual camps and competed in the same tourneys”, said fringe featherweight contender Vyacheslav Gusev. “We got acquainted in 2009 while in the States. He was a straight guy, very down-to-earth and very modest. He lost his father two years ago and that loss broke him mentally. He quit the sport and he has never been the same again”.

ROBERT GARCIA PARTS WAYS WITH ALEX ARIZA: "HE'S NO LONGER GOING TO BE IN OUR CAMP WITH NONE OF OUR FIGHTERS"
By Ben Thompson | June 18, 2014
ROBERT GARCIA PARTS WAYS WITH ALEX ARIZA:

"This time, we're not going to work with Alex Ariza. We decided that Alex Ariza's not going to work with Brandon or Mikey or Maidana; neither of my fighters," stated world-class trainer Robert Garcia, who recently revealed that he will no longer be utilizing the services of Strength & Conditioning Coach Alex Ariza for any of his fighters. The shocking news comes just one month after the team of Garcia and Ariza had one of their best performances when former WBA welterweight champion Marcos Maidana lost a spirited majority decision to undefeated pound-for-pound king Floyd "Money" Mayweather.

"He's great at what he does. Alex, when I brought Alex here, fuck, the first thing I said is we got the best team in the world; ain't nobody can compete against us, because we do have the best team in the world," Garcia explained in a video interview [see below] with Elie Seckbach of ESNewsReporting.com. While he did not get into any specifics regarding the split, Garcia made it clear that although Ariza is good at what he does, his fighters were still successful even without him on board.

"Little differences that happened; there's no need to go over, but yeah, he's no longer going to be in our camp with none of our fighters," he continued. "I tell them believe in my work. Let me do my work and I'll give you good results. Just like we did with Brandon when he beat Peterson, Acosta, Antillon, Alvarado the first time. Mikey, Mikey became a world champion without Alex, you know what I mean. Maidana, Maidana beat the shit out of Josesito Lopez, Soto Karass, without Alex. Alex does great work. He's good at what he does. Believe me, he's good at what he does, but that doesn't mean we can't win fights."

GARY RUSSEL SR. ADMITS CONCERN OVER CHANGES AT GOLDEN BOY: "ARE THEY GONNA TRY TO GET AT AL THROUGH GARY"
By Percy Crawford | June 17, 2014
GARY RUSSEL SR. ADMITS CONCERN OVER CHANGES AT GOLDEN BOY:

"You have everything going on with the CEO Schaefer stepping away from Golden Boy, then you got Floyd saying he's not gonna fight on Golden Boy's side anymore, and there is talk of Bernard jumping ship, and then you got Bob Arum going over to Golden Boy and willing to negotiate with them on fights. It's adding ounces to the scoop. So I'm looking at it now, well damn, I guess they gonna try and say Al Haymon was behind everything...of course there is some concern because you got Golden Boy and you got Bob Arum negotiating not in good faith. This fight with Lomachenko and Gary, now that everything else is uncovered, I wonder, what they gonna try to do? Are they gonna try to get at Al through Gary with the politics through a judge or something like that," stated Gary Russell Sr., father and trainer of Gary Russell Jr., who talked about his concerns going into Saturday's title clash with Vasyl Lomachenko. Check it out!

PC: The big fight is this week. How has everything been with Gary?

GRS: Everything is going good with Gary; no major setbacks. Usually when we go through training camp without any type of injuries, something is wrong (laughing). He did hurt his finger one day about 2 weeks ago. I pulled him back from sparring. We go through these camps, we get little minor injuries that slow us up a little bit; same in this camp. Gary said it best, "If it wasn't an injury or something popping up during camp, it wouldn't be camp."

PC: He's good though, right?

GRS: Yeah, he overcame everything. He's good. Actually, there was a kid that sparred with our opponent, Lomachenko. He fought the other night. I think he's out of Philly.

PC: Tevin Farmer.

GRS: Right, Farmer. He sparred with Lomachenko and he didn't say it bluntly, but what he said was, "I felt good going into the fight because I worked with Lomachenko and he got me in shape," and woo woo woo, "I knew I was ready for this fight." What I took from that was, "I was able to do what I wanted when I sparred him." He was saying that his game was on. He felt confident in that. So one of our sparring partners here worked with the kid that fought the other night [Farmer] and was talking about how good the kid was. And then one of our sparring partners said, "He ain't all that, man. He ain't as fast as he thinks he is. He got good hand speed, but I did what I wanted to do with him. I hit him with left hands at will, two and three, and beat him down." The kids we got are fast and move real good, right, so when Gary hurt his finger, I held him from a lot of sparring because I wanted him to go through with this fight. It was a few days ago, I put him back in and he did like 10 rounds with his sparring partner and he did just defensive rounds; wouldn't throw a punch. These guys were trying to snatch his head off. He sitting in the pocket moving and making them miss, and then about the 3rd round, each guy, he started showing them what he could hit 'em with. I mean, he throwing 4 and 5 punch combinations and spinning off, and the guys were just amazed.

PC: Obviously Gary is represented as a Golden Boy fighter and Lomachenko is a Top Rank fighter. Does that mean anything to you guys or does that not matter?

GRS: It's funny because it puts us in a position with two different bodies. Of course it meant something to me because a lot of that depended on whether or not Gary would get the money fights, so it meant something. But I think even more so now because you have everything going on with the CEO Schaefer stepping away from Golden Boy, then you got Floyd saying he's not gonna fight on Golden Boy's side anymore, and there is talk of Bernard jumping ship, and then you got Bob Arum going over to Golden Boy and willing to negotiate with them on fights. It's adding ounces to the scoop. So I'm looking at it now, well damn, I guess they gonna try and say Al Haymon was behind everything.

PC: (Laughing)

GRS: You know where I'm going, right? I'm reading into the politics without trying to be into the politics, but you gotta know what's going on. The way I see it now, Bob and Golden Boy, who have had an estranged relationship, is willing to reconcile their differences so they can overtake my...my enemy of my enemy, so I can become friends with them so I can get my other enemy. So of course there is some concern because you got Golden Boy and you got Bob Arum negotiating not in good faith. This fight with Lomachenko and Gary, now that everything else is uncovered, I wonder, what they gonna try to do? Are they gonna try to get at Al through Gary with the politics through a judge or something like that? It makes me wonder on this level, man. Bob didn't want to deal with Golden Boy or Al, but now since Schaefer stepped out, of course they gonna say Al had something to do with it. Let's work together and get him. So now I wonder how Golden Boy gonna respond to Gary? I'm not saying this is gonna happen; I'm just saying it's a possibility of something that could happen. It's gonna be on TV and past all of the BS and politics, I tell Gary point blank, take it out their hands. I go back to Floyd and Canelo. It was a good draw and they made big money on that fight, but something stuck in my head that I couldn't understand. De La Hoya is the face of Golden Boy, probably the biggest fight in history financially, it was the biggest fight in history. I've been on drugs for months, maybe years before this fight, why am I gonna pick this time to check into a drug rehab during the week of the biggest fight in history and my name is attached to it? I made sense of it. One judge had that shit for Canelo. If the fight would have been close, I mean close where Floyd edged this round and Canelo edged this round and they kept doing that where they going tit for tat or that round looks even, that round may have been a draw or this round may decide the fight. If they did that, then they may have gave it to Canelo. And people would have said, "That's bull, man, Oscar, y'all ain't right." "I was in the drug rehab. I didn't have nothing to do with that." Think about it, man. It doesn't make sense. That table was already set. That judge that gave it to Canelo was already set and that tells me something else; during that time, he was with Al. Al and Schaefer and all was together, but he had such a dislike, he wanted the power ball to be in his court so much, he was like, bump Schaefer and bump Al and I'm gonna do this against them. This game is played differently on different levels. I'm from the streets, man, you know what I'm saying?

PC: Absolutely!

GRS: I'm from the streets and I done seen a lot of games. I done seen guys set dudes up, I done seen girls set dudes up, and I done seen police try to set traps. The game can move fast and slow. But being in the streets for so many years, you learn to see stuff, man. You don't need a PHD to understand BS.

PC: When I spoke to Gary, he praised you in saying the constant in all brothers winning the Golden Gloves was you as the trainer. That's a hell of a accomplishment to have all of your sons win the Golden Gloves and your family to get in the record books because of it.

GRS: It's a great accolade to have. My part is as a father, bar none; past this boxing stuff and all that. We had an open workout and I really got emotional and started crying during that because I think about Antonio, Antwan, Gary and Allen, I can speak about that, but there was a void, and the void was their brother that got killed who was a mixture of all of them. They are all trained by me, but they all have their own individual style. He by far had the best staple. He could run combinations going backwards. He could go through six and seven plus combinations. It was a thing of beauty. And I know for a fact going into this title fight, if my son was still alive, he would be somewhere in that equation. He would be fighting for a title, he would have gone to the Olympics with Gary, or he would have been the sixth brother to win that Golden Glove prestigious national title. A lot of people didn't understand why I got so emotional, but like I said, boxing is what they do. It's therapeutic in making them confident and learning how to walk in the road of a gladiator and not showing that they are gladiators. People just found out that Antwan boxed and the same thing with Tonio. If you just walked up on the kid, you wouldn't know that this is a Golden Glove National Champion. People not able to see them training and going to the gym and them coming home with trophies. But I feel good that they accomplished that, but it was kind of bitter sweet because we tied it last year and we broke it this year with Antwan. They basically robbed Antonio this year. They had the fight on YouTube and they took it off because the comments were, "How could you give the other kid the fight?" But the thing that hurt me is we are there with the President of the Association and it's a good ol' boy thing and it's turning into a good ol' boys tournament. The record was held by some Europeans or Caucasian brothers who held the record. We broke it and they said nothing about it. I made a vow; the only way I would go back to the Golden Gloves again at this point is if my 20 year old just wanted to absolutely go and win that Golden Gloves tournament. That's the only way I go back. I have a gym full of kids and they are talented. I have a 132, I have a 170 and a 201 that look very promising and they could win that thing, but next year, when we fighting the local and fighting the regional and they advance to the nationals, I will not be there. I will send another coach. I'm done with the Golden Gloves.

Haye Wants Comeback Fight In Dubai, Targeting Klitschko Rematch In Future.

y Scott Gilfoid: Former WBA heavyweight strap holder David Haye (26-2, 24 KO’s) says he wants one of his comeback fights to take place in Dubai. It’s unclear why he wants the fight to be staged there, but it’s a great place in terms of taxes. There are regions that are tax free, and it would seem like an ideal place to stage a fight for that reason.
Haye hasn’t fought in two years since 2012, and he’s slowly rehabbing his right shoulder that he tore up last year while training for a fight against Tyson Fury. Haye expects his shoulder to be ready by next September for him to fight.

Haye plans on taking a series of tune-up fights, and then look to get a rematch against IBF/IBO/WBA/WBO heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko to try and avenge his loss to him from three years ago. The Wladimir fight would give Haye a nice payday similar to his previous fight against him that made Haye a millionaire. However, other than the money he’ll get for a second fight against the 6’6” Ukrainian, it’s difficult imagine Haye doing any better than he did last time. He’s too short, too light, and too defensive to beat a guy like Wladimir.
Haye is too much of a pot shot fighter, and you can’t beat Wladimir with pot shots. The guys that defeated Wladimir in the past – Corrie Sanders, Lamon Brewster and Ross Puritty – did so by attacking him with combinations and putting pressure on him. They were willing to take big shots in order to land their own punches. Haye is the opposite of all those fighters, which is why he’ll likely lose even worse the second time around against Wladimir.
“I want to have one of my big comeback fights in Dubai. It’s no secret I want to become heavyweight champion of the world again and I want Dubai to be part of that,” Haye said to Gulfnews.com. “To get back into the ring with Wladimir would be a dream come true for me because I know I can beat that guy on my day when all guns are firing. It’s one thing saying and another thing doing it, but I’m willing to walk the walk. There is no doubt I have a few wrongs to right and I’m currently on my mission.”
Haye is going to need to get ranked quickly because I can’t see Wladimir electing to fight him if he’s not the mandatory challenger. Haye did too much trash talking in the build up to their previous fight and I don’t think Wladimir will want to go through that again.

OSCAR DE LA HOYA SAYS RICHARD SCHAEFER'S RESIGNATION TOOK HIM BY SURPRISE: "I DIDN'T SEE THIS COMING"
By Ben Thompson | June 19, 2014
OSCAR DE LA HOYA SAYS RICHARD SCHAEFER'S RESIGNATION TOOK HIM BY SURPRISE:

"I haven't talked to him recently. And you know what? Things are going great at Golden Boy Promotions. We're moving forward. Golden Boy Promotions is a well oiled machine. I mean, we have a great partnership with Fox. We're doing great fights. I am so, so excited about the future of boxing, of Golden Boy Promotions, especially for the fans. Now we can make the fights that the fans deserve," stated Golden Boy Promotions President Oscar De La Hoya, who spoke more about the recent resignation of long-time Golden Boy Promotions CEO Richard Schaefer during a recent appearance on Fox Sports Live.

For months, there were constant rumors of internal strife between the former friends until finally, on June 2, Schaefer officially announced his departure from the company. Nevertheless, De La Hoya maintains that he was in the dark when the news revealed. "Look, I mean, obviously I didn't see this coming. It took me by surprise. I was for weeks telling the media, 'Look, I want Richard there. You know, we built a business together and let's move forward.' But this resignation obviously took me by surprirse," De La Hoya explained. "But look, it happens in every business. Executives come and go. I had no idea, but it's okay because the show must go on and let's make fights."

Maidana’s manager expects to know by next week about Mayweather fight in September
June 21st, 2014 | Post Comment - 63 Comments

marcos rene maidana floyd mayweather jr By Allan Fox: Sebastian Contursi, the manager for former two division world champion Marcos Maidana (35-4, 31 KO’s), says he expects to know by next week if Maidana will be facing WBA/WBC welterweight champion Floyd Mayweather Jr (46-0, 26 KO’s) next in September or not. Mayweather needs to make a decision soon in order to start attracting interest in his next fight.

Mayweather waited too long for his previous fight before finally picking Maidana as his opponent, and he can’t afford to do that a second time if he wants to get the most pay-per-view buys possible.

“We’re waiting for news. Maidana wants the rematch with Mayweather, but all of a sudden Pacquiao’s name was thrown in,” Contursi said. “Hopefully next week we’ll have something already written.”

Maidana lost a controversial 12 round majority decision to Mayweather last May by the scores of 116-112, 117-111 for Mayweather, and 114-114. It was a fight where Maidana roughed up Mayweather by taking the fight to him, and using a number of different methods to work Mayweather over along the ropes.

It worked well for Maidana, because he connected with more shots on Mayweather than any fighter has done since Mayweather’s two fights against Jose Luis Castillo over a decade ago. The close fight didn’t sit too well with Mayweather, who said afterwards that he would fight Maidana again and show the fans that it can be an easy fight when he’s using his boxing skills.

If Mayweather decides not to fight Maidana again, then it’s quite possible that Mayweather will elect to get a rematch against either Miguel Cotto or Saul “Canelo” Alvarez. Those are the only guys that will bring in a guaranteed huge payday for Mayweather. Danny Garcia’s name has been mentioned, but he’s not ready to fight Mayweather yet because he still hasn’t had a warmup bout at welterweight to get him ready for what he’d be facing against Mayweather. Garcia’s father Angel isn’t going to let him get put in with mayweather before he’s ready, because he feels that Danny is going to be a big start for many years and he doesn’t want to have his star power diminished by having him fight Mayweather before he’s ready.

Al Haymon to decide whether Robert Guerrero fights on Golden Boy cards in future
June 23rd, 2014 | Post Comment - 2 Comments

robert guerrero By Dan Ambrose: Robert “The Ghost’ Guerero’s adviser Al Haymon will be the one that makes the decision whether or not Guerrero will be fighting on Golden Boy Promotions cards on the future, according to Guerrero’s manager Bobby Santos. Guerrero fought on the Golden Boy card last Saturday night in beating Yoshihiro Kamegai by a 12 round decision at the StubHub Center in Carson, California.

With Guerrero signed with Haymon, it’s now up in the air whether he’ll be fighting on Golden Boy’s cards moving forward. The Guerrero-Kamegai fight hard been set in place for a while now since before former Golden Boy Promotions CEO Richard Schaefer stepped down as the CEO of the company.

Asked whether Guerrero will be fighting on Golden Boy’s cards in the future, Santos said “We’re going to leave that up to Al Haymon, and whatever he decides that’s what we’re going to go with. He’s done a great job for us, everything he’s said he’s going to get done for us he delivers. Obviously, we’ll be involved in the decision making, there’s no doubt about that. But at the end of the day, Al’s been great to us and we’ll defer to him on that decision.”

Haymon got Guerrero the fight against Floyd Mayweather Jr recently. That was a great fight for Guerrero. And last Saturday night, Guerrero was matched against Kamegai, and that was a good match-up too for the Gilroy native. Haymon seems to do a good job of knowing the limitations of his fighters. Had Haymon matched Guerrero against someone like Keith Thurman, Shawn Porter or Amir Khan last Saturday, he likely would have lost to them by a landslide decision. But the decision to have him fight Kamegai was a good one, because it keeps Guerrero’s hopes alive for now of getting a rematch against Mayweather or a fight against Manny Pacquiao.

If Guerrero no longer fights on Golden Boy’s cards, then Haymon is going to need to set up his own fights to promote the cards or use another promoter such as Lou Dibella to place his fighters on his cards.

Porter vs. Brook won’t be taking place on August 9th, will be another date

Porter Brook Porter vs. Brook shawn porter kell brook By Scott Gilfoid: Well, it looks like #1 IBF Kell Brook (32-0, 22 KO’s) is going to have to wait a little longer before he gets his title shot against IBF welterweight champion Shawn Porter (24-0-1, 15 KO’s), because Dan Rafael of ESPN is saying that the Brook-Porter fight won’t be taking place on August 9th. The fight will be taking place on another date. It’s unclear when right now.

Rafael said on his twitter, “I am told S @SHOWTIME ShawnP vs. S @SpecialK Brook will NOT be on the 8/9 card in Brooklyn. Will be some other date, if at all.”

So there it is. Brook is going to need to put a sock in it and stop yakking about how he’s going to beat Porter and this and that, because he’s going to need to wait a little while longer. I’m just wondering if Porter will be taking an optional title defense against someone like Robert Guerrero before facing Brook.

That would make a lot of sense because there would be far more interested in a Porter-Guerrero fight than a match-up between Porter and Brook. That fight will only interest hardcore boxing fans in the U.S, because Brook hasn’t done anything to increase his visibility in the U.S during his career. As such, Brook is an unknown and the likely ratings for a Porter-Brook fight will be horrible beyond belief for Showtime. I wouldn’t be surprised if they flat out refused to televise the fight unless it were on an undercard of a more important matchup between known fighters that casual fans have heard of.

The Brook-Porter fight was supposed to take place at the Barclays Center, in Brooklyn, New York, USA. Whether the fight will still be taking place at the venue after its rescheduled is unclear. It seems to me that it would be better off in Las Vegas rather than New York, where neither fighter has any fans.

Porter has looked sensational in his last two fights in stomping Paulie Malignaggi and Devon Alexander. Porter showed in those fights that he really upped his game from how he was fighting just two years ago when he was struggling to beat the likes of Julio Diaz.

Brook still hasn’t taken the training wheels off in terms of facing quality opposition. In his last fight, he beat some guy named Alvaro Robles. In his previous fight, he beat an aging fighter from the past in Vyacheslav Senchenko. Why Brook was fighting the likes of Senchenko instead of a relevant contender in the welterweight division is unclear. Whatever the case, Brook was staggered in that fight and failed to impress. Brooks other big fights have come against Matthew Hatton and Carson Jones. Those were actually the best guys Brook has faced during his career, which is very, very disappointing.

Chad Dawson to fight in September, expects world title shot in early 2015

chad dawson By Allan Fox: Former IBF/WBC light heavyweight champion Chad Dawson (32-3, 18 KO’s) says he’ll be fighting twice more in 2014 before looking to get a world title shot in early 2015 against one of the champions. Dawson, 31, knocked out George Blades (23-6, 16 KO’s) in the 1st round last night in a 3-knockdown performance in an off TV fight at the StubHub Center in Carson, California.

Despite looking a little fat at 202 pounds, Dawson was very impressive in mixing his punches up well from the head to the body in destroying a decent fighter in 39-year-old Blades. Immediately after Dawson put Blades down for a third time and the fight was stopped by referee Raul Caiz Jr at 2:35 of the round.

In an interview with Showtime after the fight, Dawson said he wants to fight in September next and then once more in December before challenging for a world title in the first part of 2015.

“We’ll be stepping up the competition and hopefully by the start of next year I’ll be ready for another world title fight. Hopefully by September I’ll be back in the ring, and then December before Christmas. And then hopefully we’ll be back on top next year we’ll be back right in the picture.”
Dawson said that he’ll be staying at light heavyweight, and that for his next fight, he plans on making the weight at 175 for the division. He came in overweight at 182 for their contracted weight of 179 on Friday.

Dawson does look still capable of winning a world title belt if he can get a shot against IBF/WBA light heavyweight champion Bernard Hopkins or WBA champion Jurgen Braehmer. Those are winnable fights for Dawson. He can hold down a title belt as long as he doesn’t make the mistake of moving down in weight to fight Andre Ward again or if he doesn’t face Sergey Kovalev or Adonis Stevenson.

Rod Salka is 19-3 with 3 KO's lol that's a worse KO % than Paulie.

Edgar Santana is 29-4 against literally no one of note.

Fletcher at least beat Max Bursak, but was also stopped by Billy Joe Saunders in 2 rounds not long ago.

Way too many mismatched andshowcase fights on Showtime lately. Yeah, occasionally we get an unexpected war like we did on Saturday but make no mistake that was supposed to be a showcase fight for Guerrero.

I disagree on Santana, he actually fought on Showtime before against Josesito Lopez in a solid fight that he got off the deck to win. Had Lopez hurt at the end, it was a solid fight. Peterson should be the favorite and is likely to win, but it's not a terrible fight IMO.

Fletcher's there by way of holding a stupid minor WBA belt, don't think he was a hand picked opponent by Haymon. More of happened to have a minor belt and coming off a decent win when the WBA made Golovkin the super duper champion.

The Rod Salka fight is just pathetic..

I don't think Santana should have a title shot. It's clear he's just there to lose. I agree it's not TERRIBLE but considering a triple header with three title fights and none are deserving, imo it's just not a good card for Showtime, they could have done better (besides Fletcher which is mando for the vacant title but the WBA should never have him ranked that hight anyways but Thats the whacky WBA for ya)

Yup canelo vs perro and cotto vs martinez should have not been ppv
It's funny Bob Arum admits that but in the same conversation says Cotto vs Bradley is likely for a December PPV. I wouldn't consider that PPV worthy either, but the amount of money Cotto will demand it's likely only possible to pay him by PPV revenue.

It's weird, this year so many PPVs compared to the last few. Would have had a PPV every month almost if Chavez didn't pull out against GGG.

Btw, still no word or even rumors about Floyd's September PPV. I'm thinking he's pulling out of that date.
