Haye: “The Klitschkos both hate me”

By William Mackay: World Boxing Association heavyweight champion David Haye (23-1, 21 KO’s) sounded mixed up in an interview with the Belfast Telegraph, saying this about the Klitschko brothers: “The Klitschkos both hate me and it’s not just the t-shirt [Haye is referring to the t-shirt depicting him carrying the severed heads of the Klitschko brothers that he wore to a press conference with Wladimir Klitschko]. It worked. Three hours later, 25,000 tickets had sold for the June fight.” Haye is talking about his June 20th scheduled fight with Wladimir Klitschko. Haye ended up injuring his back and was unable to make the fight with Wladimir.

Haye seems to enjoy being disliked by the Klitschko brothers for some reason, as if it will give him an edge in the ring when he eventually fights them – if he ever does. I don’t know that the Klitschko brothers dislike Haye. I think they mostly don’t respect him. However, Haye’s constant needling for the Klitschko brothers isn’t that big of a deal. Haye hasn’t backed up his talk in the ring with either of the brothers. Haye had a chance to fight both, but ended up backing out because of an injury for the Wladimir bout. And in the case of Vitali, Haye disappeared during negotiations and chose instead to fight WBA heavyweight champion Nikolay Valuev. This gave many boxing fans the impression that Haye is scared of the Klitschko brothers. It could have been ignored that Haye couldn’t fight Wladimir because of an injury, but when he chose to fight Valuev instead, it gave many boxing fans the impression that Haye is scared of fighting the Klitschko brothers.

However, Haye believes that the Klitschkos think he’s unafraid of them for some reason.

“The Kitschkos can tell I’m not scared of them,” Haye says. “They try and laugh it off, but I can tell when a fighter is concerned and thinking about what would happen in the ring. They both looked at me and they could see straight away that I was not joking, that I was not getting in the ring with them for a payday. They could tell that I wanted to beat them.”

On the contrary, I think the Klitschko brothers think Haye is afraid of them. They have nothing else to go by but Haye’s actions or lack of them. Words mean nothing when they’re not backed up by positive action. Haye had a chance to fight both of the brothers, but he failed to make the fights. If the Klitschko brothers are afraid of Haye or any other heavyweight, it would seem to be the natural emotion when facing an opponent that wants to beat you. If they weren’t concerned, they would be either dead or badly fooling themselves. How can a fighter not be concerned about an opponent?

I don’t buy that Haye isn’t afraid of the Klitschko brothers. He has to be. If you look at the way Haye fought against Valuev, he showed plenty of respect, and I’d say fear, by staying on the outside and running for most of the fight. If Haye wasn’t afraid, he would have gone right after Valuev in the 1st round and tried to knock him out.

“The t-shirt was just an excuse for them to get angry with me, but their real is that they know I’m not scared of them,” Haye says. “You know, where I grew up it was not wise to be scared of anybody and I’m not going to start now.”

That sounds kind of like wishful thinking on Haye’s part. I don’t know why he’s so concerned with the Klitschko brothers not seeing him as scared. That sounds like Haye needs to drop that mental baggage, because it seems like it’s weighing him down. Why should Haye care how the Klitschkos see him? They probably don’t think highly of him, but Haye should be focused more on just beating them rather than wasting time worrying about not appearing afraid of them. Lennox Lewis often appeared afraid of some his opponents before his fights. But that didn’t stop him from beating most of them.

Haye will be facing 37-year-old John Ruiz, his mandatory challenger, in early 2010. Haye has to get by Ruiz if he wants to face the Klitschko brothers later on in the year.

Mayweather's unconscionable decison making

Memo to Floyd Mayweather Jr: Be quiet, be very quiet. The second piece of advice (and this is free of charge) is to fire your entire team and replace them with people that will advise you properly. The decisions that the Mayweather camp have made thus far leading up to this train wreck have been unconscionable. With every blowhard move that team Mayweather has served, team Pacquiao has countered, and has done so brilliantly.

The very first thing that Floyd should have done early on is to get his uncle and his daddy to shut up. Both of those two individuals have done a stand up job securing the upcoming lawsuit about to get dropped on their heads. With the recent decision making on the Mayweather side of things, you could probably write a book about it, and title the book, "How to NOT make 30 million dollars and get sued in the process."

There is nothing worse than getting boxed into a corner. In this case, Mayweather's people boxed him into one. It was self inflicted by ridiculous decisions and point blank stupid comments made by the team. Who in their right mind goes on the record and accuses someone of taking steroids without any proof or basis for such allegations? Who does this to a guy like Manny Pacquiao? A man who has climbed the mountain through hard work, dedication, and faith. Pacquiao time and time again proved himself in the ring, he doesn't talk bad about people. He talks with his fists in the ring, and he maintains a humble and caring personality outside of the ring. To attack this man's character is plain ignorant.

When you are the king of the hill there are always those who want to knock you off. In this case it appears as if they are trying to knock the man off of the hill without even throwing a punch. So to add another stupid move, the Mayweather team demands that Manny undergo Olympic style blood testing leading up to the fight. This is just another way of accusing the man of taking steroids. Pacquiao countered this move and agreed to give blood before the press conference, and the day after the fight. If Pacquiao has taken steroids, it would show in his blood on the day after the fight. It's your move now Floyd, but it appears as if it's check mate time.

Mayweather has an undefeated record. Pacquiao fans are not impressed, they say that he has cherry picked his opponents and has fought guys much smaller. Their argument certainly holds water, the proof is in the pudding. Mayweather for the most part has indeed fought smaller opponents, there is no argument there. Now Floyd has a man in Manny Pacquiao that is smaller, but has straight up destroyed every big man put in front of him. Does Floyd realize that he would be dealt the first loss of his career if he fights Pacquiao? Is he afraid that if he loses to Pacquiao he would be exposed as a guy that has indeed cherry picked his opponents to an undefeated record? Perhaps so.

There is a really easy way to fix all of this. Here is my second piece of free advice to Floyd Mayweather Jr. After you fire your team and hire new people, scrap the blood test demands, and let the commission do their thing. Sign the contract that will make you up to 30 million dollars, and fight your ass off like you never fought before. If you win, you will get a lot more respect than you have now. If you lose, but lose trying, and lose in a game effort, you will still gain more respect than you have now. As of right now you are taking the PR beating of your life.

well I guess mayweather doesn't want to fight. He rejected Bob Arum's proposal of the state of nevada doing all of the random urine and blood tests.

The funny thing is, the only guy left for Floyd to really fight is shane mosley, and uhh, he's the one that tested positive for roids and refused blood tests against Judah last year. So we'll see if floyd requests the same Olympic style tests or not.

Pacquiao vs Paulie is a joke fight too. If anyone it should be Pac vs Timothy Bradley. This whole thing just fucked everything up. Fucking idiots, all of them.

Pac-Bradley should be made. The only reason why I would even think of paying for Pacquiao-Malignaggi is to see that piece of shit guido get the shit kicked out of him and swallow all of that shit he was talking.

But I think Pac-Bradley is a much more intriguing matchup, and Bradley has even backed Pacquiao up, calling the steroid allegations nonsense and saying that he'll fight him under the rules of the NSAC.

Wow. Team Mayweather just wormed their way out of the biggest payday possible. He can go on and fight Matthew Hatton in England and secure his legacy as a certified bitch.

FUCK YOU FLOYD MAYWEATHER JR.

Floyd needs to quit playing games. Manny shouldn't agree to have blood drawn 48 hours prior to fighting... they should test immediatly after the fight...

Give Paulie a chance, his only 2 losses were against Cotto and Hatton.
He's deserved it.

Not saying it wouldn't be a mismatch on paper, but I think he deserves a shot.

JMM beat Diaz and got a shot at Mayweather.
Paulie beat Diaz (twice) so give him a shot...

I'll settle for it.

PBF always talkin' about goin' where the money is...ALWAYS!

When the biggest money making oppurtunity of a fight presents itself to him though he still won't take it cuz he knows the opponent would end his perfect record and put em in his fuckin' place....something that he doesn't want to happen. If he was really real about his shit like he thinks he is he'd just shut the fuck up, lace up them gloves for the biggest payday for any fighter EVER!

Fuck this dude, Im glad everyone is finally seeing what myself and other true boxing purists out there know already about this pompous, loud mouth, no heart having man PBF truly is.

Pac don't won't to take a blood test at all.... Thats basically what I got from the last deal put on the table by his camp before they go else where. That just seems funny and vegas isn't going to draw no blood out of any boxer in a fight this big. To what have it called off and they miss all these people pouring in bringing there city money. You can say what you wont but thats what it is.....

^^Las Vegas has always done urine tests. That's the way it's always been. Mayweather vs Oscar, the richest fight in history was done the same way. Same with Floyd vs Ricky Hatton and every single one of his opponents.

Pacquiao's first proposal was he agreed to give blood 3 times total, plus all the urine samples. Floyd rejected it. Then Pac & co agreed to random blood & urine tests by a different agency - one by the NFL, NBA or MLB, as long as there would be no blood taken within 24 hours of the fight. Plus they would draw blood immediately after the fight. Floyd rejected it. Then lastly, Bob Arum proposed that the State of Nevada's athletic commission, who I remind you oversees all boxing in Las Vegas, rules whether or not additional blood tests be taken, even on the day of the fight right before the fight. Mayweather rejected it.

So what I got out of all this was that Mayweather was completely unwilling to compromise at all. It was either his way or no way at all. So I put most of the blame on him. If he would have just met half way in the middle the fight could have been saved. I mean what he was asking pac to do was very out of the ordinary and has never been done in the history of boxing. If mayweather has his way, there would have been 15-20 random blood & urine tests within an 8 week period plus the likelihood of blood taken from the fighters right before the fight, which is stoopid since they'd be tested immediately after anyways.

Mayweather rejects Arum's final proposal - News

by Harold Kupelle: According to Yahoo Sports, Floyd Mayweather's adviser and Golden Boy Promotions CEO Richard Schaefer told Yahoo that they have declined promoter Bob Arum's final proposal for the drug testing methods to be brought to the Nevada Athletic Commission for them to decide next month. Arum, who promotes Manny Pacquiao, had set a Monday deadline for the offer to be accepted or declined, saying that if it was declined, he would begin negotiations for a fight between his fighter Manny Pacquiao and former IBF light welterweight champion Paulie Malignaggi.

Mayweather and Golden Boy Promotions want blood testing to be done for both fighters randomly up until the fight. However, Pacquiao and his team want the blood testing to be conducted three times - once at the kick off, and then 30 days before the fight and the day after the fight.

“It does not make sense for this to become a commission matter," Schaefer said. "This is a contractual matter. The commission did not decide the weights or the purse split or how the foreign television rights would be sold. If this is Bob’s final ultimatum, then that’s what it is. That is his decision if he wants to take that position. I very much hope this fight can be made, but the reason it is at a standstill is because of the way they have handled things.”

Mayweather's adviser Ellerbe chimed in “Random is random. We are all intelligent people and we know what random testing is. That is what we want and it has not changed.”
