that's clearly a no contest. If an accident causes the fight to stop under four rounds it's a no contest. It's that simple. This will be overturned, I'm 100% confident of that.

the ref ruled a technical knockout and that can only happen if a punch was landed. obviously lifting hopkins up and tossing him isn't a punch.

HERESY, even if an MRI shows no serious injury it still wouldn't matter because rules are rules.

imo the ref was way too quick to make a ruling. He should have gave bernard up to 5 minutes. A similar thing happened in Echols vs Hopkins where Echols picked up hopkins, threw him to the ground and hopkins dislocated his shoulder. The ref gave hopkins a couple minutes to recover and hopkins continued to fight and ended up scoring a knockout. I have no doubt that hopkins would have continued if given the time. I don't think anyone knew what the hell was going on. Certainly hopkins wouldn't have not continued if he knew he'd lose by TKO.

even if hopkins was milking for a point deduction, do you think for one second if the ref told him "if you don't continue, you're losing by TKO" hopkins wouldn't get up? no way in hell man. Hopkins had no clue he'd lose. Plus, you don't know if he wasn't hurt. Landing on your elbow like that can cause an injury like that.

But my reference is with the echols fight. That's how it should be handled. The exact same thing happened, hopkins was tossed to the ground and he landed on his shoulder, he dislocated it. Hopkins was given 2-3 minutes to recover and he continued and ended up winning by KO. That's what the ref should have done. First, he should have been clear to hopkins what the results were, second he should have given some time to clear the chaos.
