The biggest differences between private and public trackers is that one is invite only and there are no external torrents. In other words, all the torrents are exclusive to that site. The other is that the content is monitored so the chances you could get a virus are very minimal. The way the MPAA gains insight into what you're dowloading is by downloading the .torrent and looking in the swarm.

I'd be willing to get some of you onto some private trackers but you'd have to prove to me you are capable of seding the right way.
as soon as i get a desktop again ill hit u up. the one private site i go to im at like a 2.0 ratio. i usually just leave my comp on and leave the torrents up

You should always read the comment system, odds are a lot of people got the notification, and commented on it, and you just didn't read it was being tracked.

Movies that are either new, or leaked for release on torrent sites seem to be higher % tracked. Especially on public sites.

I'm learning how to usenetz, thanks to the euro breh, and I'll make a tutorial on it in the mp4 forum if I gather all the shit needed, and get good at it. From what I read it's way safer way of file sharing.

Run that tutorial by me, breh... I've been using usenet for years and I laugh at these puny torrents! HA HA

how can people not use usenet in 2012..... really..

Its a mystery to me
Most people are not accustomed to Usenet so the bigger question is not why aren't they, but why should they? That is the first question that needs to be addressed. I'm neither advocating Usenet or bashing it - my needs are 100% satisfied through other means. So I have no reason to attempt anything else.

i use torrentday and demonoid and my seeding is ridiculously good. the mma site my seeding sucks since i just downloaded 100gb of pride fights lol but thats all i wanted on that site anyway. if you ever used any of those sites and know of better ones LMK. dont have to invite me but atleast shoot me a PM to let me know what they are. thanks.
What are you into? If you want a general tracker, my favorite is RevolutionTT (though many will say TorrentLeech - I didn't much care for it). It has everything and it's what I use more than any other site. Then there are trackers that are specific to types of media; ie. What.CD for MUSIC, BitMe.TV for television shows, PassThePopcorn for movies, BitGAMER for GAMES, and so on. Those are all top-level trackers. The purpose? A general tracker like Revolution will supply the typical user with the film they want while PassThePopcorn will offer it in 5-10 different formats. All depends on what you're looking for. I don't know if I have any invites for PTP but I think I have them for everything else. Plus I am on a bunch of other sites I didn't list. Just let me know what you want. But please don't ask if you're not going to use them because there are a lot of rules that come along with being on a private tracker. They will delete your account for inactivity or if your ratio falls below the required minimum. Send me you're email and I'll set you up on RevTT and What.CD for starters. If you can maintain ratio on those sites I'll hook you up with more.

sabnzb+ + sickbeard + couchpotato = goes!

This is how I use the usenet.
There is no seeding from anyone required, you download directly from private servers.
As far as I know everything is available on the usenet first before torrents before peer to peer.. not sure on that one though.

everything is automatically, I almost do not need to intervene.

but the usenets are not common in the us?

Seeding is only a bad thing when you are required to do so in order to maintain your account status. But it is a small price to pay when your account is free. Is your Usenet account FREE?

As for where the media/software hits first is anyones guess. But you should understand that usenet does not facilitate the product, they merely provide the medium by which you can obtain it. In reality there are groups that release the product to top sites. Then you have couriers who distro the product to places such as usenet, trackers, irc, etc. So assuming usenet does actually get it first, you're talking about an hour at the most, but probably closer to minutes and even seconds.

I have no doubt that usenet is a very efficient way of downloading movies. But it really comes down to your preference. I could go onto IRC and download the same movie I get from private trackers with ease, but I prefer to use torrents. From the moment the thought of getting a movie enters my mind, I have it within a matter of minutes. To argue something is better than that is just splitting hairs.

Usenet can be free.
Although mine isn't. I think it is a small fee for the service and quality you get.
But what is important for some ....

All people I know (including myself a few years back) who use torrents the downloading always is incredibly slow. There are so little people that share and when they do their upload is limited.
It takes them so much longer to download the same file then I would do over the usenet.
For me it's always a consistent speed, and I never need to upload or am depending on other peoples connection or seeds.

Here the law is also more or less that if you download something it is still somewhat ok.
But with uploading (seeding) you are offering content to share publicly on the internet and that is were you can get in to problems.
Since the usenet doesn't work that way you are still safe, assuming you do not upload yourself.

And personally I really like the sickbeard - sabnzb combination.
You do one search on any show (listed on thetvdb.com) and it start searching for every episode of every season. And you can select the un aired shows to start downloading automatically right after the show has been on the tv.
I don't know if it works in combination with torrents. Would be great for the people who prefer torrents if it does.

Also when I download something on the usenets it is always the file that I wanted.
With torrents I remember sometimes downloading a movie and when I finally got it on my computer it turned out to be a completely different movie, lol.
I guess it doesn't happen that often but it did happen though.
