Did you download from a private tracker (demonoid, revolutionTT etc.) or open tracker (thepiratebay,h33t etc.)?

I've gotten numerous e-mails from comcast listing everything from the filename to the time and program I used to download it.

always leave your wireless internet open and you can blame the neighbors
People are probably going to write this off but it is a valid defense.

A while back when I was very much into "computer security" I was doing a vulnerability scan on a broad range of IP's. I got a call from Comcast asking what I was doing. I played stupid the entire time and in doing so they were convinced I had a virus and that someone was rerouting via my PC and doing the scans. I agreed to run a virus scan and that was the end of it. Leaving your wireless open is not a good idea but if/when shit hits the fan, and they ask about it, tell them you do not have a password-protected wireless broadcast. And when they ask about movies say "what are you talking about?". Just play stupid.

But the best advice is to use private trackers.

I remember i downloaded Zodiac a while back to rewatch it just to see if it was worth getting on blu-ray. i got a message from comcast telling me if i get caught downloading illegally again then they would shut off my internets on me. well about a 100 movies after i'm still going strong but i only download of demonoid, torrentday & MMATracker. all private sites that you need to be invited to get in. fuck all that public shit.

I download HD movies on private torrent sites which range from 4gb to 8gb in size, never had a problem from my Internet provider. No reason to download 700mb sized movies on a torrent site. Try these sites. http://oneclickmoviez.com/, http://www.rlsleak.com

The issue with the "open network" defense is that most providers contain a section in their ToS about that. In using their service, you're taking responsibility for everything that takes place via your connection. Be it something you did yourself, or your neighbor jumping on your connection due to an open network.
