I've been to some dope hip hop shows though...

One be lo
Cool Kids
RjD2
Nickatina

and so on......

There is still alot of original rap vitality but those artists have a hard time comin to light because they feel the need to classify themself as this style or that. When hip hop split into different styles and beats is when it became watered down.

these days rappers make it a career outta the game
look what happened to master p in the 1990s
no limit used to drop 2 or 3 cds a week month in month out
then after "da last don" no limit started goin down the toilet
all these shitty releses that nobody bought like lil italy and t-bo
if p quit after his masterpeice "da last don" his legacy woulda remained intact

hell no

its a gang of muthafuckas stuck in da past lol
Are you saying rap is better now? I have GOT to hear ANYBODY out now better than the shit from back then. The garbage rappers nowadays are way worse than the shit we considered garbage back then, and the guys who are regarded as the best today would have been considered just "ok" by most standards.

I don't really miss 90s hip hop that much....what i do miss is how the radio would play everything. back in the day you would here different regions and styles...u would here a pharcyde song playing within the same hour as ice cube, goodie mob, do or die, celly cell and BDK. I don't mind the clubby stuff they play on the radio nowadays, but I wish they at least made an effort to throw some different shit into the mix.

oh and "REAL" Hip Hop is fucking gay.....I view that as a stuck up opinion saying that one person decides what's "real" and what's not. who the hell are you to be deciding on shit?

that wasn't directed at you elpresidente, just the phrase "real hip hop"
real being the opposite of fake, life struggle and wise words are "real" to everyone meaning they exist in everyones lifes. killin every cat you see and sellin hella drugs is only real to some, therefor the more intellectual rap(as someone called it earlier) is what i consider real. and if you offended by someone calling some hip hop real on not other hip hop, you got some hidden insecurities

i dont think so really, canibus is still doin shit, and back in the day he was considered good too. aesop is still doin his thing, same with atmosphere. and as a whole i think some hip hop has gotten better, like, there wasnt really conscious rap or backpack rap back in the 90s, most of the albums i wish i had more of came out between 2001 and 2004. but anyways

^nah, that just takes out almost all rappers outta the equation.....it's saying that any rapper that talked about killing is fake, any type of hood shit is automatically not real because you can't vouch for it.....so like mobb deep, nas, 2pac, schooly d, nwa, krs-1, jay-z, biggie, and hella other foos are not "real".....and the only "real" hip hop is like talib kweli and mos def....I dunno to me it just excludes too much and puts the "fake" label on hella shit.....but hell, it also makes foos like skee-lo and 50 cent "real" because they talk about shit they went thru (like getting shot or being short)

naw, it just means that what they say isnt real to everyone, and 50 cent and skee lo wouldnt be dubbed as real cause not everyone has been shot. and when music doesnt fall into the "real" category, i dont think the artist is fake, i just figure that the lyrics would be looked at in a way you watch a fiction movie, its for entertainment, but in your life its not necessarily real unless you live that life too.

but 50 been shot so its real to him.....same like my potna got shot so in every freestyle it'd be about the number of times he been shot and how he goes bad on a scrap....and that's real to him......I dunno, I'd call the mos defs, roots, and living legends of the rap world "true hip hop" cuz they're more true its pure form....I used to be hella callin shit real hip hop and whatnot back in the day till I realized its all entertainment, just different sub genres.....and to call one part real and the other fake would be even more ignorant than the music that I was considering "fake"
