smith is younger, more athletic, has a stronger arm and comes from a winning program. all things that hill doesnt have. smith was pushed out to be "the man" too early and got the shit kicked out of him. hopefully by being bench and hurt, he learned a lot over the last season, & sharpened his work ethic. im not saying alex smith is a savor, but he sure opens up our offense a bit. defenses actually have to recognize the fact that he can and will let the ball go down field. and we dont have to line up and run power right, power left all day.

as long as we come out with a .500 record this year, the 49ers are going in the right direction. nothing happens over night. lets see how it plays out.

i think its the right move. i think smith earned it. he played like a man that wants his job back. but if he's weak next week take him out and throw hill back in. maybe we can use both of them.

By starting Smith you make Hill play harder,
Are you implying that Singletary will start Hill again next week? Barring a Jamarcus Russel-like performance by Alex Smith, he will probably finish the season. The Niners are in the running to win the NFC West, good teams don't have questions about which QB is starting week-to-week and Singletary knows that.....

I thought that this dumbed down offense would be beneficial for Smith, who I never thought really had a fair shot before being written off. He's showed hints yesterday of hope, and I think as long as he can stay productive and close to mistake free, he should stay in.

Tough game in Indy, but in all honestly, I think if we can give them a tough game or even possibly win, we're on the right track. I'd like to see this QB situation settled for once, so we can start to build some consistency.

Thats what i like to see, fuck the colts, if we go out and perform, and execute, there is no reason we wont win, any given sunday. we would have to play flawless, and force peyton into making mistakes, which isnt a easy thing to do

if smith performs the way he did in the 2nd half of the Texans game against the colts, we have a good chance of winning. They schedule was easy in their first 6 games and almost lost to the Dolphins with Chad Henne under center. Colts got solid offensive weapons like the texans have. We need to put pressure on manning, dont get caught with stupid penalties and play SOLID D! thats the main focus. Stop the future HOF QB in Manning (which aint gonna be no easy task) and force turnovers.

If Smith can perform the way he did, it will open up the running game and jimmy rayes playbook. Do more spread offense's. I have a feeling we are going to see MORE creative play calling and no more run, run, pass then punt sequences. Raye knows Hill has a noodle arm and does not want to risk INTs but now that Smith is the starter, we are going to see more passes down field because Alex can throw.

Seeing smith this weekend really showed that he learned a lot and matured as a player!
I see crabs and smith hookin up more in this game. I cant wait!

People where calling vernon davis a bust also, maybe coach nolan was the bust. If Alex uses his athleticism, he will be a starting qb in this league, period.
