what do you mean by "bang your shit out rhythmically"? i dont quite understand what youre implying.
I'm talking about physically banging out your beats with your hands. Reason being because you get more of a natural sound. Rather than doing it all by mouse clicking and such. See the video I posted above, he ain't clicking and painting in notes in the pianoroll, he's physically banging out his shit in a natural rhythm.

you shouldnt make a "switch" in the first place. reason as a daw is ehhhhh, but as an all in one music production tool it is great at what it does. there are sounds and routing capabilites that are impossible with other programs and gear. limitless effects and layering capabilities are nice to have especially considering you can get shit done on a fucking pentium 2 if you have to lol you dont need a savage ass computer rig to run reason at full tilt.
If they still haven't ironed that out I see no need for it in my setup. It doesn't compliment my work flow one bit.

ima lazy fuck i like the redrum its great.
dont really matter anyways....only thing about playing the drums yourself is its gonna record the velocity from how hard or soft you hit the key/pad....you can draw that in too though so it really doesnt make much of a difference....

i just like playing them myself cuz its quiccer for me to get my desired result without having to guess where i should place the drum and keep hearing it over n over to make sure its how i want it to sound....

^yea but a lot of them are fire, i mean i look at everyones beats like a seminar. its all there for you - how you present it, how you build it up, how you break it down, what sounds you use, the style of your production all defines your sound. i like listening to the best of the best for inspiration but i do listen to a lot of up and comers too because i dont underestimate nobody theres a lot of unknown producers with hit potential.

i mean i think my beats are coo like i said i mean dude from living legends fuckin wit it and they get beats from 9th wonder and shit you know. im just saying theres a lot of room for improvment theres a lot of things that i'm not doing right now that i need to work on - get them bitches professionally mixed , drum breakdowns, variations, melody changes, just hella shit that makes a good song. - just got a copyright certificate back for my shit though that is a MUST. as far as what you doin your shit coo too brah i mean i see potential in everyone its all about staying focused, thats why i stay trying to hear some new shit. you never know when that hit gone come but when it come its gon change everything.

i got the shit on (itsbx.com) you gotta sign up though but they got all the new instrumental albums its in the instrumental section. actually ill pm the link to you.

yeah good lookin on the link.....

and i feel what you sayin cuz i think about all them same points when i study others beats and compare my own work......

but dont tell me that you havent heard a hundred beats out there on the radio or even on your favorite artists albums that you thought was hella wacc and you KNOW you got better production than that....

that type of shit right there goes against all that perfection we strive for cuz in the end a hit can come from any beatmaker/producer with the right situation in place....its not always about the music alot of shit is just politics and knowing the right people....

im my own biggest critic though cuz ive had beats people bought off me that i didnt even think were worth what they paid but they wanted em so bad i sold them to em....i dont even want credit for some of them beats cuz i feel like they'll only make it seem like all my beats are on that level....

like i said above programing the drums or playing them really dont make a difference....unless you just dont use quantize but then id imagine your beat is gonna sound way off eventually....i dont know anyone who makes beats that arent quantized.....

oh and malki i thought this was gonna be an actual mixtape of rappers but i see its just all beats by different producers.....good shit....and yeah theres some hitters on here so far but its not really all my style a lil more east coast then my taste calls for....i think you had some better beats than this to tell you the truth....

but i feel you on trying to get to that level cuz if you wanna get out there this the type of shit commercial music calls for.....

^dam well thats saying something right there cuz them is hit songs on that mixtape, but u right about hearing other peoples shit and knowing you can do better - thats some of the reason that i got serious about producing. i started off rapping then i got a bootleg copy of reason and bought a lil usb keyboard so my producer patna could make beats at my house - next thing u know im making beats, a litle while down the line i started making better beats than him. lol. i dunno what happened. i guess its all about getting in that comfort zone when you do music. thats the only reason why i ever said fuck vsts or fuck regroove or whatever. i feel like you gotta work with what comes natural and if you forcing yourself to use all this new shit you aint gon be as creative as if you just made a beat like you know how to do. for some people certain software or sounds fit their personality it just so happens reason just works so perfectly for me i couldnt see it no other way.

yeah im like that wit fruity loops and my vsts....but i can get down with reason too or even a korg oasis or triton.... i just prefer fl for my overall workflow and pretty much unlimited sound options.... some people really look amazed when they watch me use fl and when they try they get all frustrated and tell me to make a beat again....lol...

im a fruity loops user myself. I never tried reason yet, but i am intimidated by some people that use that program. I just never sat down and tried to use it. I used to use the asr-10 and mpc 2000. I used to be one of them fuck software kinda dudes, but one day i was fuckin around with the fruit loops and made a pretty descent beat in like 10 minutes.

How's reason like? Any of yall use both?

There are sound libraries you can buy online and use with Reason. My boy has every Triton and Motif sound that he uses in Reason. I'm sure there are more out there, those are just the two that he bought.

But I agree, the regular refills you can get for Reason aren't that great.
