Lol @ this thread being 6 pages already

YOU LOST TO THE SEAHAWKS LAST YEAR!!!!!!!
Saints were in the playoffs last year. The 49ers . . . oh wait.

Didnt we almost beat you last year with singleterry?
That's your rebuttal? Didn't we ALMOST beat you? LOL It would be more reasonable for me to say "didn't we stomp you in the pre-season?"

the saints didn't lose to the shehawks due to the lack of a running game, they lost due to a defense who couldnt stop the run imo. I would say this 49er team is better then that 7-9 shehawks team so the saints competetion will be better this time around. Also if we eliminate that running game like we have been doing wouldn't that put the saints right back to where they were last season, having to win through the air?
Saints lost due to injury. The lack of running game was a result of how depleted their team was due to injury. The saints limped into the playoffs last year and the results were evident. The Saints won't need a running game against the 49ers because as statistically poor as the Saints D is they are going to cause problems for SF. As good as SF's D is they aren't going to be able to stop the Saints from scoring and the 49ers can not put up points to match the Saints.

well they say Defense wins championships ( ask tha damn 02' bucs ),, so we'll see if this is indeed true..
Won't be this year. GB, NO, NE all positioned to prove that wrong.

I think the Saints will beat them easily.
Me too

What kinda bets are the 49ers fans going to be making?

You Niner fans obviously havent watched pre-game shows today. Noone thinks the Niners are gonna win. Only delusional fans are Niner fans for this game
Im glad they are doubting us, this is shaping up to be just like the SF Giants World Series Run, lots n lots of similarities, Niners Have arguably the best defense (Giants had best pitching), Every1 wants to doubt us, we played the Braves (said wed lose), the philies (comparable to the Saints in football terms, their strength is their offense, and they have a good defense as well). i have faith in my squad, we aint playin in no pussu ass dome brehs, the aints will come marching in, and leave crawling out.

watching the niners get knocked out 1st round and still havent won a playoff game since 2002
oh u mean like the cowgirls usually do? lol

i seen this from Kevin Lynch, has some good points

The Saints beat the Lions 45-28 to become the 49ers opponent Saturday Jan. 14 at Candlestick Park in the divisional playoff round. No surprise there. Nevertheless, the Saints performance was hardly dominating and the Lions defense did things the 49ers just don’t do such as:

–They couldn’t tackle running back Pierre Thomas. He broke at least 10 tackles to compile 66 yards on eight carries and he caught six passes for another 55 yards. The 49ers are, possibly, the best tackling team in football.

–The Lions had no running attack in this game (10 rushes, 32 yards). The 49ers own the eighth-best running game in the league.

–Lions middle linebacker Stephen Tulloch had a horrible game. He was constantly manipulated by Saints quarterback Drew Brees. Tulloch was also late covering the middle in the Lions two-deep defense. That won’t happen with 49ers linebackers Patrick Willis and NaVorro Bowman, who have more speed and hopefully, more awareness than Tulloch.

–The Lions had two horrendous coverage breaks that led to touchdowns. They forgot to cover tight end Jimmy Graham who scored on a 3-yard touchdown. They did the say thing with Robert Meacham on a 56-yard score. The 49ers haven’t committed glaring coverage mistakes this year in their secondary.

–Detroit got little pressure on Drew Brees. The 49ers should get more with their front four, which has accounted for 32 of the team’s 44 sacks.

–The Lions linebackers struggled in coverage in nickel situations. Again, Bowman and Willis should be better than Tulloch and Justin Durant.

–The 49ers made 23 interceptions during the season. The Lions dropped three picks in this game.

also another good point i read was that we played the saints in the preseason and they went all out with the blitzes and alex took them big hits in that game..... perfect bulletin board material/inspiration.... look for Brees to take hits, and the defense to support their QB....

Seems like you got answers for everything, i can do the same. The saints offense will not get 550 plus yards on our defense like they have been doing to other squads. In the event that they do 4 teams have went 450+ yards on us this season and we still went 3-1 in those games. The 49ers give up a lot of plays but lock down in the red zone and make teams settle for field goals or create turnovers. Drew Brees will be starting his drives from his own 20 and deeper. Our special teams is on point haven't allowed a kick return or punt return all season. Your defense will have no answer for our running game and that will lead to drew brees sitting his ass on the bench most of the game. Also LOL @ limping in. Really limping in?? what do you call what the shehawks did going into the playoffs with a 7-9 record?? no excuses you guys got piped down. Also never heard of a team not needing a running game, the running game is what opened up the game for you guys yesterday against the lions. The running game is the key to everything in the NFL. No running game you turn in to a one dimensional team.

I think NYG pose more of the threat to the packers than the 49ers do to the Saints, but both teams could lose....any given sunday......unless the game is on a saturday......

I think it will be this year, 49ers, Steelers, Texans, and Ravens are set to prove that right.

As far as bets go I be willing to put money on the 49ers, especially if vegas heavily favors the saints on the spread.

I remember quoting this earlier in the year. Props to original poster forgot where i read it at.

For those of you interested: The Saints radio guy, Jim Henderson, was on a local radio show yesterday previewing the Texans v Saints matchup this weekend. At the 1:30 mark of the interview Henderson says the reason the Saints blitzed so much and pounded the 9er QB?s was because Sean Payton expected a call from Harbaugh during the week of the game so they could reach a gentlemen?s agreement on how the game would be played (pretty common in NFL circles). After Harbaugh blew off the call, Payton told Gregg Williams to ?turn the dogs loose.?

Saints mustve forgotten how hard it is to win at the Stick....
but according to some people on here... the Saints will win the game..

and they're basing everything on the Saints 2009 SB, their record last year and how they played during the season and how they beat the lions lol..

but what do I know about football? nothing....

I'm basing it off the fact that they have the best offense in the NFL this season, especially over the past month

you don't think that's relevant?
