The saints offense will not get 550 plus yards on our defense like they have been doing to other squads.
They won't have to. 400 will be more than enough.
Your defense will have no answer for our running game
Won't have to because 49ers won't be able to control the clock with running because SF will be playing catch up on points. Thus they will have to rely on Smith to get the ball down field and he won't be able to when he has trouble reading the D at the line and sees the blitz more often that he has from any team during the year.
Also never heard of a team not needing a running game, the running game is what opened up the game for you guys yesterday against the lions. The running game is the key to everything in the NFL. No running game you turn in to a one dimensional team.
The running game will be less relevant vs the 49ers. The Lions are a more difficult opponent for the Saints than the 49ers because they can keep up on points in a way the 9ers can't. Where in the game vs the lions the running game opened up the passing game and kept the Lions D honest against the 9ers I expect that the passing game will open up the running game. the running will be limited because the 9ers are so good, but I believe that is the direction it will go. Also the way the Saints O is set up their passing game is so dynamic and has so many targets for Brees to hit it brings a whole different dimension to things. I'd argue that most teams have running and passing games, but the Saints have running, traditional passing, and a unique passing game mostly centered around their running backs (Sproles mostly) and their TE's (Jimmy G mostly) that sets them apart from the rest of the league.
49ers fans shouldn't get it twisted. I respect the team and what they've done this year(I think you can see from my comments the respect for the D especially), but I just believe they aren't a good match for the Saints and I expect it to be the least difficult matchup they have in the playoffs.
I think it will be this year, 49ers, Steelers, Texans, and Ravens are set to prove that right.
I expect Saints/Packers vs Patriots will prove otherwise.
As far as bets go I be willing to put money on the 49ers, especially if vegas heavily favors the saints on the spread.
I'm taking Siccness related bets.
