one has nothing to do with the other...
BAA is a little relative though, as it considers only official at bats. The formula is:

So, someone like Lincecum who only walks about half as many batters as Kershaw and faces more batters (due to pitching more innings) is going to have a slightly higher BAA since hitters will have more official AB's against him.

i see where you are coming from Rekz.............i could buy that IF we were talking about a small sample vs. a large sample...................in this case obviously Lincecum has a larger sample.............but being that BOTH samples are large BAA is just a percentage of batters success against pitchers.......

if joe blow (1st round pick) is batting .400 though 50 AB's...............and Pujols is batting .350 through 400 AB's i see the small and large sample case.......thats a big difference..............but if Pujols is batting .350 through 400 AB's and joe blow (1st round pick) is batting .375 through 350 AB's......thats not much a difference....................

this is the case with Kershaw and Lincecum.............

BAA is for pitchers the same as BA is for hitters...............

LA Dodgers.. give it a rest.. Kershaw has pithced less innings thus a lower BAA, Lincecum and Kershaw have started the same amount of games if im not mistaken (20)

Lincecum however has gone the distance AND thrown complete games (3) i believe in that month you speak of..

^^^ and ERA and LOSSES. 8-5 with the dodgers offense is pretty terrible. thats equiv to Zito being 6-10 with us.
Kershaw has, if i am not mistaken, 6 games where he got a no decision after leaving the game with 0 runs allowed.............so whats your point?

his win/loss record...run support sort of reminds me of Cain

you still dont understand numbers and baseball...............less IP has nothing to do with a lower BAA.....................

yes......where have i disagreed with that?????

all this bullshit started because i said that IN MY OPINION Kershaw has been the best pitcher in baseball for a little over a month...............

for some of you blind Lincecum worshipping Giants fans thats like blasphemy....

LOL all of a sudden all this is just an opinion? doesnt look like it

and Kershaw is pitching better than EVERY1 in baseball.....

but thats "OK"

I never said that, i said kershaw IS PITCHING, as in right now....the past month or so....better than EVERY pitcher in baseball.....

21 year old..........putting up the numbers he is putting up on a playoff caliber team (tons of pressure) is amazing.......the walks are expected from such a young pitcher......

once he gains command and the walks go down........better watch out

BAA under .200........1 K per inning........
oh and IP does have to do with BAA, more innings pitched = greater chance of a batter raising that BA.. with more opportunities theres usually more reward.

kinda hard to give someone run support when he puts people on base for free and makes it easier for the other team to pick those runners up
do you even proofread what you write................

for the 100th time......one has nothing to do with the other.................

run support= runs YOUR offense scores for YOU...........

issuing walks has NOTHING to do with your offense produces for you........

you said you played baseball your whole life, right?????
