It's because those guns are very rare early on as well as .44 ammo. Once you level up more and progress a lil further it will open up. But anytime u see the .44 ammo at a merchant, buy it. If you have a ton of ammo that u don't really use like .308 just sell some of that so you're essentially trading for the .44 ammo. It will come. I remember when I first got that gun too I barely had ammo. As you progress it becomes more and more useful. Probably a good idea to invest in the scavenger perk, u find waaay more ammo when looting.
The .50 is a mod by the way, once you have Gun Nut level three you can make your hunting rifle .50 cal which makes a badass sniper. If you ever come across a legendary hunting rifle, like 2 shot, explosive, etc, save it. Then make it into your .50 sniper rifle as soon as you can.

This time I'm keeping Drinking Buddy for myself! Dude is way too tight to give away. Such a long travel though, all the way east of the map and south a bit, all the way to Sanctuary Hills and that motherfucker walks slow as hell!! Otherwise he can die if you let him walk by himself and fast travel. I suppose I can save it, fast travel and see if he makes it back or not and reload if he doesn't but I have no idea how long it will take him so it's hard to know. Maybe I'll try sleeping at Sanctuary Hills and if he's not there after reload.
Nothing really the little horse has been on the older fallouts too but there is one side mission where a ghoul asks for parts to one he's restoring.

Same happened to me when I was out of ammo on everything but my sniper rifle. Finally killed the queen then the legendary cunt killed me had to start all over lol. Never going to get caught slippin like that again fuck that took a long time. Took me longer to kill that legendary cunt, I'm running around in circles all the minutemen are dead or knocked out I got a one shot rifle lol
There is no fatmat nor nukes there. There is a weaponry room with a fatmat but that room isn't open yet until after you clear the castle, set up the radio and then that army bitch shows up. Until then that room is inaccessible.
Unless you're playing on easy maybe? I've done that twice two different games and there are no weapons (some small amounts of ammo near a couple beds and a couple missiles which don't help if you don't have a missile launcher).

lol you fuckin noob. why didnt you try taking cover or something or running into the castle itself then throwing grenades? i remember now i didnt nuke it, but launched a couple missiles at it, then ran into the castle and basically it couldnt get to me, in this game you're invincible if you walk to an area where a melee enemy cant path to, they just end up running back and forth, and i could just step out and throw grenades every time it did its acid thing. acid thing > peek around corner and grenade >acid thing >turn around corner and grenade
