Reading about math classes in the apea9 thread reminded me that I barely passed basic algebra with a D as a senior and almost wasn't able to graduate. I'm so bad at math.
I was completely absent in my head when they were teaching math from 2nd-4th grade ...I just wasn't in my right mind because of family issues.

I never caught up, to this day I am horrible at math

flunked Math A for 4 years in high school, & decided to go get my GED at 17.

my close homeboy who is from France is a math whiz, & didn't know English, which is my strong point.

this was all before digital shit, so we swapped papers in the test & passed, first try... he did my math, I did his English.

I still use a fucking calculator for the most simple shit, but things happen. I'm dumb as fuck with numbers.

I was similar. I was way ahead of everyone else in English, and reading, and writing. But as far ahead as I was in English I was just as far behind in math.

So in high school they had me in all these advanced and college prep English classes, but as a freshman I was in algebra and I was failing so bad by the end of the first month they put me into Math-A (I think it was called) and then barely passed that, then re-failed Algebra twice as a sophomore and junior. The only reason I passed as a senior is because the teacher felt bad for me and gave me hella extra credit work sheets so I could graduate.

It was a bummer, as a senior in the same math class with freshman, and not smart freshman at that, lol.

It was like once we hit algebra, the math section of my brain decided it was full and turned off for good.
