There's a Mexican fighting in all those fights breh, that's my point! Those dates are for Mexicans to fight...if Floyd fights anyone besides manny on those dates and it goes head to head vs a canelo fight, he will lose. Simple as that.
That's why I told him to look at the undercards of Floyd vs Cotto/Canelo.

I literally can't stop laughing...I'm face flat on the floor Pacquaio style...but my hand is on top of the desk still active typing this...so Cotto is good enough to take a fight to 1 million PPV buys against Canelo...but against Floyd pt2 for Cotto's Middle Weight strap it's gonna FLOP!?!? Your not saying that right?
Yes because he is fighting a Mexican on or around a Mexican holiday. I am not saying the fight will flop. I clearly stated the fight will not edge out Canelo vs GGG on that date. And no matter what, GGG is in line for a shot at the MW title, there is no way around it so if FLOYD wins then what? Fight GGG, sit on the belt for a year and then drop it or drop it immediately after winning? Answer the question, breh.

Cotto scored 2 KO's in last 2 fights owns a title , GGG scored KO's in succession owns a title, Pacquiao scored 6 knock downs in his last fight #2 PPV star owns a title, Floyd is the king of PPV owns 2 division titles...Canelo: Trout (questionable) Mayweather (embarrassment) Angulo (KO) Lara (just barely)...Alvarez no titles...not a current champion. Canelo is going to be the odd man out if he keeps this up.
Canelo has headlined his own ppv. Canelos fanbase INCREASED after the Floyd loss. Cotto beat a cripple and a guy ranked 17th. Then when it comes to GGG you were knocking him in other threads now you're talking about his ko rates. Then when we are talking about Pac, you go on to talk about how he has been knocked out, catch weight king, low ppv, fights weak guys but now it's Pac has 6 knockdown sand is #2 ppv. Please make up your mind. I call the shit down the middle but you don't know what you want to do, breh, lol.

Canelo, if he were to fight GGG, would be the A side. And both are open to fighting each other, GGG has said he will fight in Mexico so yeah, two "Mexicans" with a strong following, who have never fought before, are going to beat a black and a Puerto Rican who have fought. And let's not forget the puerto Rican was embarrassed.

Sooo...what Mexican vs Mexican has sold 1 million PPV buys?

"It performed better than the 165,000 PPV buys Barrera produced in his rematch with Rocky Juarez, a lesser-known opponent, in September, but it fell short of the 310,000 buys generated by Barrera's rubber match with Mexican rival Erik Morales in November 2004 and the 296,000 achieved by Barrera-Morales II in June 2002.

Barrera's best pay-per-view performance -- 310,000 -- came in his upset victory against Naseem Hamed in April 2001."

Oscar vs:

Mexican--->

Vargas: 950,000 (Mexican)

Chavez: 500,000 (Mexican)

Non Mexican--->

Floyd: 2 million

Trinidad: 1.4 million

Hopkins: 1 million

Pacquiao: 1.4 million

Mayorga: 924,000

Shane: 950,000

I'm not down playing the Mexican influence in boxing but numbers don't lie...more Mexicans purchase a fight with Floyd Mayweather involved than any other fighter in history (not named Oscar). That's why he has 2 events of 2 million PPV buys as an A-side and B-side. Oscar couldn't even get those numbers with Tito.
How many of those fights took place around Mexican holidays?

Floyd has been a cash cow, AFTER he fought a Mexican on a Mexican holiday.

There is some serious hypocrisy going on in here, for real.

So let me get this straight, if Cotto decides to fight Floyd, Canelo MUST fight GGG?

I don't blame Cotto for 1 second if he elects to fight Floyd, especially if he's really getting $40mill for it.

BUT, if it's okay for Floyd to move up to 160 and fight Cotto, why is there not a demand for Floyd to fight GGG? Floyd has already fought Cotto and Canelo. Why not something new? Let me guess, because Cotto has the MW title and you care about Floyd making history? It's unfair for Floyd to have to fight GGG because he's never fought at MW before?

GGG has repeatedly said he would move down to fight Floyd at 154. Canelo has yet to fight at MW officially. I don't understand why the double standard exists here, unless you're unabashedly nut hugging Floyd.

Cotto getting $40 million fighting Floyd is obviously complete bullshit by the way. In order for that to happen Floyd wouldn't make any money himself. Let's just say for sale of argument it did even better than the first fight, it did 1.5 million buys. Floyd's minimum purse is what, 32 million or some crazy shit like that? So the total purse would be $72 million? Lol. $10 million at best for Cotto.

Again the reason for Floyd not fighting GGG as opposed to Cotto is because of fan base and name. GGG is on the rise but doesnt bring much to the table to earn a fight with Floyd. Obviously Cotto does. Got Em!!

I'm saying though, if Canelo MUST fight GGG if he doesn't get Cotto, that seems hypocritical if people aren't saying that Floyd MUST fight GGG if he doesn't fight Cotto. It's always an excuse... he doesn't have enough fans, he's too big, etc... Why do those same excuses not exist for Canelo?

That's the only fight that makes sense at this point for big money.

I don't blame Cotto for 1 second if he elects to fight Floyd, especially if he's really getting $40mill for it.
He isn't getting $40 mil. No way possible as Floyd's guarantee is $32 mil.

BUT, if it's okay for Floyd to move up to 160 and fight Cotto, why is there not a demand for Floyd to fight GGG? Floyd has already fought Cotto and Canelo. Why not something new? Assuming Floyd fights Cotto for the MW belt, and wins, then we have a problem. The winner of the MW title has to fight him, there is no other way around it aside from dropping the belt.

ETA: And for anyone talking about history, all you have to do is ask them to name ten historic fights and their outcomes and then you'll know if they are serious or just saying some shit because someone else said it and it sounded intelligent.

GGG has repeatedly said he would move down to fight Floyd at 154. Canelo has yet to fight at MW officially. I don't understand why the double standard exists here, unless you're unabashedly nut hugging Floyd.
And at 154 he still crushes Floyd. Canelo wants to fight at MW and the winner of the Canelo Cotto match, should it occur, has to fight him, there is no way to avoid him.

But I feel you.

If he WINS the mw title from Cotto he has two choices:

1. Defend it against GGG

2. drop the title.

Exactly, and this is the problem and really the whole issue that 2-0-Sixx brought up forever ago. Is this just a novelty lineal MW title now? Is it all for show? I have a feeling that Cotto is going to lean on the attitude of "I'm a small MW, I shouldn't really have to fight true MW's."

I have honestly never thought that he wanted to fight Canelo. Getting beat down by another Mexican will be damaging to his career IMO. I damn sure don't believe that he wants a piece of GGG.

Canelo is the only one that I believe that would willingly fight GGG at 160 if he were to fight and beat Cotto. If Cotto doesn't fight real middleweights, his lineal title is a total sham like Pacquiao's title at 154.

Let me say this, I didn't think Canelo deserved the Floyd fight and openly stated it. My reasoning behind it had nothing to do with his fan base, he has the entire country of Mexico behind him. My thing was he was still green, not proven and there was nothing he brought to the table, aside from a bit of power, that would allow him to be really competitive against Floyd. GGG, however, will KILL Floyd if they were to fight, make no mistake. And since Floyd has fought at 154 a couple of times, a fight with GGG somewhere around there is a "legit" fight.

But back to Canelo, I don't think he's one to duck. I think he wants to fight the best people, which is also why he took the Lara fight and I think he's a natural at that weight. Truth be told, if Canelo wanted to move up to LW I think he could pull it off. The guy is in his early 20's, has power, has speed, throws in combos, but his footwork would need to improve, he would need better conditioning, etc. I say this because he was like 170 or so when he fought Trout, but that wasn't the best performance of his career.

As for the MW title, it's simple for me, whoever wins it must IMMEDIATELY vacate the title or fight GGG.

And I don't want to hear that "GGG should fight Andre Ward" bullshit. If Ward REALLY wanted to fight GGG you know what he would be doing? Fighting. GGG has a LEGIT reason to fight ANYONE with the MW title. Floyd, Pac, Sergio, Cotto, Thurman, Qullin, Zewski, doesn't matter. If you have that MW belt you are fair game.

I'm fine with Canelo having faced Floyd. I think enough fans thought he had a chance to beat Floyd, as was as media either picking Canelo or at least being unsure of how they felt that it was a viable fight. It obviously made a grip of money, but Canelo represented something that Floyd hadn't had to deal with. I think most astute fans of the sport thought he was too inexperienced at that level and showed cracks in his game that didn't give him much of a chance, but it is what it is. I like that Canelo is willing to fight whoever by the looks of it, and doesn't avoid anyone, but he is a flawed fighter.

I saw that earlier too. That whole article/interview pissed me off.
It's total bullshit. You have the title, there is a MW standing in front of you who has done everything in his power to earn the shot, yet you say a guy who has no power, who is not a MW, who had a draw in his last fight, a loss before that one, a so so win over JMM, a war that could have gone either way with Provodnikov and a gift over Pac is the bigger fight?

Yes, this guy is the bigger fight, lol.

I never said he was to big. I said he doesnt bring anything to the table and is still building his name. Canelo has a huge fanbase. Got Em!!

Not sure I dont look that far ahead. I take it one fight at a time, I never overlook any opponent lol. Got Em!!
