The video just shows what went down. BUt if you read articles that talk about the dead man it's mentioned.

Obviously if dude has a knife cops are going to react but god damn they did not hesitate to shoot. I still remember im Seattle some ten or fifteen years ago or so some mentally disturbed man with a sword in downtown was going nuts. The cops tried to reason with him and eventually threw a net over him lol. Shit worked and no one had to die. No doubt if that happened today he'd be shot on site and the talk would be "well he had a sword what did he ecpect?"instead of opening a discussion on ways police can use non lethal means to handle situations like these.

We are definitely caught in a vicious cycle that is being increasingly exacerbated with positive feedback.

The people dislike/distrust police - The police get militarized against the people - The people dislike/distrust police more - The police get more militarized against the people - The people dislike/distrust police more - etc - etc - etc

I think this highlights how broken and dysfunctional our human communities in America are. Don't get me wrong, I am not directly faulting the other civilians present in the video, as we are products of our environments and have been brainwashed through propaganda and man made law to "let law enforcement handle it," or "it's not my problem." I would have just walked by the kid and went about my business too, and that would be disgusting for me to think to myself for one second that I am a good person- but allow someone with mental health issues to be killed by the police for no purposeful reason. That is pathetic of us as humans and as communities. American society and culture has trained us to view people like that kid as a crazy man and let the police handle it and go about our business, when he needed to be afforded the proper help. The end result is that the police WILL kill, as the police don't care, aren't trained, and aren't required to humanely deal with the mentally ill (hell they obviously don't deal with the non-ill population fairly either). The police here in Phoenix and AZ consistently kill people with mental health issues. That video along with you highlighting the fact of his issues has me taking a long hard look at myself and my community. I am involved in the community here on certain levels but it is time to bring this subject up at community meetings, specifically when the police are scheduled to be there to spread their propaganda.
Its time to encourage others to look in the mirror at themselves as well and stop acting like robots.
PEACE

The police have become our mental health system. I can't find it, but I read an article recently that estimated over 50% of police calls are dealing with a mental health issue.

It was at the old theatre on 4th and pike, and they blasted him with water cannons. It took hours and he still tried to stab officers, even with his hand broken underneath a boot piled on by several officers. My friend who went to cleveland highschool said the school went on lockdown cause that same guy was running through the halls naked with a sword

Some people need to simply be taken out

I just watched the video on YouTube. Yeah they used water hoses. He was schizophrenic. Point is no one died that day and that man is still alive today. He has family and I'm sure their grateful he didn't die by the hands of the police.

Explain how I'm brainwashed. If I'm brainwashed then so is the majority of the country. I invite you all to live somewhere other than here if its so bad
Thats exactly what a brainwashed coward would say, how about America is beautiful, and its worth fighting for? running away from something thats broken instead of fighting it head on, and fixing it is the cowards way out, the fact you would say that, shows your brainwashed coward mentality, America is beautiful, and worth saving, or even dying for.

America is beautiful and worth fighting for. If you don't like it you can get out!

have you ever had police contact? been oppressed by the police? I can go on and on about the nightmares ive had with the police my whole life.
I've had contact with police probably 150 times in my life. Mostly positive but also had my house raided for no reason and got pulled over for no reason. I don't worry about the police at all because I'm never doing anything wrong

My bad experiences started when I was still a child, police lying to me, threatening me with violence, I remember a cop told me to do something, and I told him no, so he tried to get in my face, towing over me to scare me.

My moms second husband was an abusive San Mateo cop. I pretended I was asleep and headbutted him when his face was close to mine trying to wake me up. Broke his nose and pissed off his three sons (I was 9 and they were older) so they beat my ass

Felt good tho. My dad always taught me not to trust the police because they will have each other's back before they have yours. Biggest gang in the country he always said
