That's good info to know because I've done exactly that. I've never known why to learn Ruby or Python though, aren't they a lot less used?
Yes, but Ruby & Python are base languages, pretty much in any environment you get into. C++ is majority, but Python pretty much covers all languages & is an interpreter for Ruby to C++

Also how is the money in system admin?
in silicon valley, it's okay ....cost of living here is fucking retarded so even making 100k+ a year, you still struggle, IMO.

I know some people that'll commute from the valley or further south just due to housing prices & how they vary, but that drive-time kills me & I aint trying to move away from my kid so I tough it out & stay in one of the cheaper parts of town.

But entry level sys admins make right around the 100k mark & go up from there.

i always wanted to know programming languages but Im still not sure what its all about or what it does. does x cause b, or does x cause b only if c happens. Is that a fair assessment of programming language or am i way off?

similar.

it's basically writing actions within a lot of syntax & bracketing.... good thing about scripting languages is majority of the programs you are writing in will tell you whats wrong with your script if you fuck it up.

ya, the comedians I like you guys probably find unfunny.

which is cool, because to each their own ....I am more entertained by the likes of Dave Chappelle, or Robert Schimmel (RIP), or old school Eddie Murphy.
They're all funny too. I'm a big Schimmel fan. Chappelle is great too.

Eddie Murphy had a couple great stand up specials, but I think he's better as a comedic actor.

Cost of living up here is dumb as hell too, a shack downtown with run you like 500k.

But that's still like 5x national average at 100k so no complaining about that.
