Everything I just talked about was to help the company sell cds...did you see me saying anything about selling dope, selling cars, opening up a dry cleaners? Putting on shows help with the viability of the artist to the general public and helps the record company. Now to the point of selling cds out of a record store...that is a system and understanding you have to have. How many cds do I think I can sell? Let's see California, Oregon, Seattle, Nevada, Texas, Denver and Arizona would be my targeted areas and from that radius I would say on or around 10,000 cds in 6-9 months period. That's a tremendous grind...maybe even a year if you also consider trying to do shows in the Bay Area and some out of state to co-inside with the travel.
Again, it's all speculation, wishful thinking. Or for lack of better words, your feeling yourself a little too much to the point where your dreaming & getting delusional with all due respect. There is no guarantee that you will sell 10,000 Cd's. Now, I can respect anybody believing in themselves, but there is always a line to draw.
Someone who believes in themselves pushes towards that goal as most of us do. A dreamer starts doing the math & starts to dream about how much money will be made when the product isn't even out yet. That's like talking about how much milk your cow can produce & what price you'll sell it for, but the reality is, you don't even own a cow yet.
I could sit here & throw numbers out & be correct on the math, but I'm just throwing out numbers. It has yet to become a reality in the form of dollar bills.
Your merely talking about getting signed to a new independent label who's never released anything period from my understanding. Or may I ask what "hit" singles you have that are going to top the Billboard charts? Not being a dick. I'm seriously asking.
Let's just say you did sell 10,000 copies though. That's a success on the independent end of it, but it still doesn't mean a thing within the real music business. 10,000 is not even scratching the surface of the game when the bar has been raised so high by rappers on the majors. You mention 7 states & 10,000 copies sold in 6-9 months. I seriously don't think anybody from the Bay outside of 40 & way less than a handful have sold that many Cd's from the Bay Area (no pun intended.)
Majors are dropping artist who are selling 258,000 copies sold for being considered a failure. The must sell is a million or more in a week. Your talking 10,000 in 6 to 9 months. In retro, it's good on the independent tip, but your sounding like your going for the gusto & nothing wrong that, but again, your not scratching the surface for real success within the business.
Before I go any further, I'm going to ask you a very simple question which is a typical question I ask anybody when on topics like this.
Do you own your publishings?
