What are their the numbers on their soundscan?

Not arguing, simply asking.
That I don't know brother. But gas hit it on the head with his posts.
Look at it like this. Its much cheaper now to just look at youtube and see if 1: the views are
There and most importantly imo 2: if there are tons of positive comments. Whether we think the music is good, if they are tons of positive comments plus views a major will be like damn imagine the money I can get if we put the machine behind them. Sometimes it works (asap rocky) and sometimes it don't (kreayshawn). Its a gamble.
But twitter and instagram followers and youtube hits translates to majors paying attention. I mean damn diddy was givin props to lil b at one point.
I personally don't agree with it, but these are the times we live in.

I agree, but this is going back to the 50 Cent mixtape thing. It's worked for a few, but not for all.

And most artist today won't be timeless like their pioneers. My personal opinion the music is standing on it's last leg. And gripping the edge by it's finger tips.
Yeah people won't probably achieve the success like the people I mentioned. However if they have legit youtube views with comments, and an active instagram and twitter they will achieve success. And gas can attest to that.
As far as your comment about the quality of music that's a whole nother thread bro. But its not about quality anymore its who can produce a fast hit to make a fast buck. Its up to that artist to sustain their longevity and keep putting out mixtapes to keep their name alive.

Again, youtube views don't equal sales. Majors are not as quick to sign anybody in 2013 due to they're youtube views. I understand what your saying & maybe it would have worked in 99 / 02 but it's just not happening in 2013.

Actually thats not true at all bc they quick to offer 360 deals nowdays. They do look for who has a big internet prescences (soundcloud, marketable, youtube, twitter, google searches etc) if you dont have the feedback, attention and numbers(they can tell who bought hits and who didnt) you wont get signed not matter how good you are unless you know someone or in the right place right time. if they dont see no profit in you then its a wrap. most wanna be rappers these days cant even be found in a google or yahoo search thats how u know they buzz is dead.

They still sold more then you though so it dosent matter. all them make tons of money doing shows 10-30 thousand a show with like atleast 4 shows a week you do the math. thats how artists be living these days by shows and merch unless you signed a 360 deal then you getting raped. Internet is the main platform now.

50 cent is old news that was a decade ago. you cant live in teh past you gotta talk about whats happening now and now internet precscences is imprtant in any thing you do rather you a businessman, promoter, musician, artist, entertainment business etc.

Besides pointing the finger at me like I pissed you off such as, "They still sold more then you though so it dosent matter..." That's an answer with a whole lot of anger behind it LMAO!

LOL! Not bitter, Bro. Not at all. I've accomplished quite a bit within the underground. Have yet to make a million, but I'm still at it. I'll be real & tell you I skipped through your post. I have 3 little kids (7 in total) & a wifey, so I can't be on here to long. Plus, I'm a mortician, so I'm on call most of the time. Sometimes I have to leave in the middle of a great post where I'm ripping everybody in here a new asshole LOL!

Allow me to make my point so you can be at ease, Homie.

I would call myself more of the devil's advocate. Look at it this way, had I not been talking shit riling people up in here. Getting people to post some great opinions rather than having everybody dick riding one dick & agreeing. This thread would have died 2 pages ago.
