Keep in mind the following fighters are not options:

Pacquiao (making his ring return in November against Alvarado or Rios)
Timothy Bradley/Marquez (fighting eachother in Sept or Oct)
Sergio Martinez (injuries, will not fight again this year)
Great thread first of all...I chose Danny Garcia...whereas you have a solid fighter...a fiery dad for promotions...and Garcia has defeated Morales, Khan and Judah...and he can step up in weight...my first thought was of coarse Canelo but why not wait till next year and do it in May or Sept to build the fight up to bigger proportions don't waist it prematurely...I think Garcia, while not a southpaw, has the sturdy talent of Ortiz...you need a mexican or latino for Sept so I don't think the names that fall outside of that would be suitable...I'm wondering if Floyd fights again at 147 would he have to vacate his 154 lb belt...Canelo should unify the 154 lb division by next year if that is the case and that would be a major accomplishment for Floyd to fight for the unified Jr Middle Weight title in or Sept 2014 against Alvarez...as his 4th fight then go on to fight Manny in the 5th...then by the time he looks for his last opponent maybe Broner will have established himself and thus we have a mega fight. I believe that Amir Khan will get his shot after the 2nd fight on Floyd's list because this is all about who can bring what to the table and Khan's name is still out there...he just needs to win a couple. I don't think Canelo should be last because he has to go up to challenge Canelo and the older you get the harder it's going to be...and if Canelo unifies the 154 division because Floyd vacated then Alvarez will have some leverage as to not having to go down in weight to fight Floyd...the fight is more important at 154 for a unified belt than at 147...advantage Canelo.

Here is the reality of it, at all boils down to money. If Mayweathers next fight doesn't draw 1 mill buys, but Canelo does, then Sho and GBP will either concentrate on Canelo PPV's more, or pressure Floyd to fight him if not the contract would get ripped up somehow someway. The ball is really on Canelo's hand. He really does have more control of the situation than people think. I think it would be something to the effect like no rehydration limit, but a big Mayweather ring, you feel me
The only ball that is in Canelo's court is the ball that says he needs to fight more worthy opponents and not have suspect wins. Aside from that, Canelo doesn't control shit. Floyd controls who he fights, not Canelo. Canelo didn't sign a 6 fight deal with Sho for around $200 million, Floyd did, so again, Canelo doesn't have the ball in his court.

Canelo didn't have to look sharp. He was given the score cards every other round and knew he was in the lead. He fought a totally different fight this time around cuz he usually does damage to the body real quick and then it's history from there on out. Yet he was still sharp enough to Knockdown Trout. And I love Trout actually, to where I see him fighting Mayweather and noy Canelo. Floyd is gonna do Canelo like he he did to Pacman, fight all his opponents but not him. And I have Trout winning vs Floyd by the way
Actually Manny fought all of Floyd's opponents. It was like he needed insurance if Floyd beats them then he can beat them. He was following Floyd for his opponents for a while. Got Em!!

Agreed. I was cracking up when I was watching his last fight and the announcers were talking like he will call all the shots next even against Floyd by saying the fight would be in Texas with open scoring again. Bwhahahahahahaha. I was like he wont be calling shit if he fights Floyd. Got Em!!

Talks underway for Floyd 'Money' Mayweather Jr. to face Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez - ESPN

Talks begin for next Mayweather fight

Just a few days removed from welterweight champion Floyd Mayweather Jr.'s dismantling of interim titleholder Robert Guerrero on Saturday night at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Golden Boy Promotions CEO Richard Schaefer told ESPN.com on Thursday that he already is working on Mayweather's next fight.

Schaefer said he is hopeful of finalizing a fight between Mayweather, the pound-for-pound king, and unified junior middleweight champion Saul "Canelo" Alvarez, a match that looms as one of the biggest in boxing.

Rafael's Boxing Blog

Rafael Get the latest scoop and analysis on the world of boxing from ESPN.com's Dan Rafael in his blog.

"I am working on the fight," Schaefer said. "I'm crunching the numbers. You should see my calculator -- it's red-hot. I am working on a lot of fights, but this is my No. 1 priority."

Schaefer, who promotes Alvarez and works with the 36-year-old Mayweather (44-0, 26 KOs) on a fight-by-fight basis -- but has promoted all seven of his fights since 2007 -- wants to make the fight.

"This is something I am pursuing and I am having conversations with both sides," Schaefer said. "Canelo wants the fight and Floyd has never turned down an opponent."

When Mayweather announced in December that he would fight on May 4, he also said he would fight twice in 2013 with the second date, Sept. 14, back at the MGM Grand. It's an ideal date to face Alvarez, one of Mexico's biggest stars, because it is the weekend of Mexican Independence Day, a traditional weekend for a major fight involving a top Mexican fighter. Mayweather's fights against Victor Ortiz (2011) and Juan Manuel Marquez (2009) were on the same weekend.

Alvarez (42-0-1, 30 KOs), 22, cemented his status as the top 154-pounder in the world on April 20 when he outpointed Austin Trout to unify two world titles in front of a sold-out crowd of 39,247 at the Alamodome in San Antonio.

Mayweather has not fought twice in a four-month span since 2003, but reiterated at the news conference after beating Guerrero that he planned to return quickly.

"We're going to be back in September," Mayweather said.

Mayweather has been on talk shows this week also saying he would fight again in September.

The fight would be the second of Mayweather's 30-month deal with Showtime/CBS for up to six fights, which he signed earlier this year after leaving longtime TV home HBO.

One of the key stumbling blocks to making a Mayweather-Alvarez fight, however, will be settling on the weight. Mayweather is the welterweight champion -- 147 pounds -- who has twice won junior middleweight belts but never has weighed more than 151 pounds for either of those 154-pound maximum fights. Alvarez is a big junior middleweight and has said he was not interested in negotiating a catchweight that would require him to fight at a weight lower than 154.

Whomever Mayweather fights in September, Schaefer said he needed to get the fight finalized in the next few weeks in order to launch the promotion properly.

Alvarez initially was supposed to fight Trout on the Mayweather-Guerrero undercard as long as he had a signed deal from Mayweather promising him the next fight, provided he beat Trout and Mayweather beat Guerrero. Mayweather, however, declined to sign the deal and Alvarez-Trout was instead moved to its own card on April 20 and did big business.

See what I mean? It's not about who's rep is harder, it's all about business. Put yourself in Shosports shoes. You give a fighter so much money, promotes the fight to be one way, ends up another way, falls short for you financially, then says "I fight who I wanna fight!" withou you having no say? Come on now, Showtime has to get their money back somehow someway. If Canelo is worthy or not doesn't matter to them, money does. If he does fight Canelo, it will top the DLH fight, or get close to it. Mayweather doing whatever it takes to stay undefeated is a business move and not to be considered the best p4p in the world.

Mayweather vs. Guerrero did damn good money wise and a million PPV buys. Showtime is very happy now and HBO is feeling salty as Hell. Mayweather will fight Canelo but I still don't think it will be on Sept. Canelo vs. Cotto is next so Canelo can try to beat Cotto more impressively then Mayweather. If Canelo wins Mayweather vs Canelo could do 2 million PPV.

It's gonna be Canelo vs. Cotto.

Ellerbe talking about fighting Khan. My choice)
Would be slightly embarrassing fighting Khan at this point being that he nearly got KO'D like ten times against Diaz. I mean, it will be a hilarious fight but still, Khan really shouldn't even be in a position to be considered. High reward zero risk I guess.

I told you Canelo vs Cotto, so we can see if Canelo can beat Cotto better then Mayweather did. Mayweather is fighting Khan, Alexander, or the winner of Lucas vs Peterson. The Mayweather is ducking Canelo bs is not loud enough yet, by May 5th 2014 Canelo vs Mayweather or Mayweather vs Cotto 2 will be crazy hype.

This makes no sense.
