As far as Mr.D-Sane talking down about a newbie in need of advice.I think its a shame that a man in his shoes does a such thing when he's experienced in the field.Well,Hataz.We can never live without em so I expect shit like that......1
Now days everyone and their mom is tryin to run a damn label or recording studio runnin arround town claimin they got it all frontin to get pussy frontin they got all the hot shit about to be sold up bla bla bla same dumb shit.. He has credentials very deep in this.. d-sane isnt the average mind think about what he is probably sayin nicely and replay your posts to see whos the haters... he makes somewhere arround 5 albums a year plus TM beats plus networks with associate labels and helps with other peoples extra shit... now compare anybody you know in the business to that mainly yourself... dont compare a year tho.. compare the WHOLE LIFE of music production...most likely it dosent compare to even ONE of his years.. basically anybody on a real level feals what the fuck im sayin...to have your dreams is cool and to learn is great .. its simple those that live this and those that are wrapped up in their hobby are what it breaks down to... learn
somethin yourself from when successful business man talks, stop hatin and respect his quality, his numbers, when real people in this speak ect..I dont think he was talkin shit just stating the TRUTH of what he seen in you get my point.. so stopping before its 2 late can be taken multiple ways think about it while your pullin your pants above your huggies and tighten your belt then ask yourself were they

The shure 58 is a piece of shit? Damn your really just starting out.. Its all good everybody was there once
im not starting out and i own one. most studios in the bay area of cali have them.
Its great if your performing.. Not for studio use tho.
either you know NOTHING about recording (which would be studio use),tracking live bands, micing drum kits etc etc etc......or you know nothing of shure and who uses the mic. have you used the mic? papa roach does. badu does.
Not for studio use tho. its $100 for that mic, and it has other flaws... check the khz.. this is its capture range... its 50-15.. great for mids
1.when it comes to gear the actual SPECS (in most cases) should NOT dictate a persons PURCHASE. i see hard disk recorders that are supposed to be 24 bit but in reality only use 18-22 bits. i have heard one companies 24 compared to another companies 24 bit and noticed a difference. in regards to something being great for mids thats splendid. *most* vocals reside in this frequency range anyway.
and its khz it 20-20
just curious what would you record that has a range of 20 k and can the human ear actually hear it? in fact can YOUR ears hear 20khz or would you carve that space out?

heres a list of pros who use the mic:

http://www.shure.com/scripts/whosusing/whosusing.asp?ID=107&PN=SM58

@play patna who started the thread. its good to have several mics. save up and buy a condenser. keep your shure 58 because you can NEVER have enough mics. you may want to track your B.G. vox with it .

ps im not smashin on you 206 so dont take it like that.

^^^ LMAO!!! the hip hop section of homerecording was bullshit. one guy made a beat with drums,no bassline and a sample. now i admit that you DONT have to have a gigantic symphony and what not but this guy had a weak track.....yet everyone was on his diznick. i pop up every now and then but i dont post. i mainly dealt with cats like blue bear, sjoko and other fools. i could hold DEEP convos with them about recording and the technical aspect of it. next time i post up on that board it will be when i make my announcement about my album its release date who picked it up etc etc etc.

but in regards to dumping lyrics to a hard disc recorder or pc i have the advantage to do both so it doesnt matter to me. the most important thing is that it was TRACKED properly to begin with and that the ROOM is in GREAT condition (acoustic wise).

in regards to software it depends on the person. i use 5-6 different applications. cubase 24, cubase sx ,sound forge, and 2 or 3 "secret" programs (lol) that i dont want ANYONE to know im using.

last night i spent time with my lil homie snuft out. we were going through some beats in the archieves and we narrowed it down to like 26 beats. what im gonna do is record snippits of each beat and post them on the net on my iuma page. the beats are NOT my style. its not METAL. its not METAL/RAP its not mob music. he is from los angeles so it has that type of feel (on some of the tracks). we need help deciding which tracks to use. we need 14-15 in all so any help from you (sporadic) or others on the board is HIGHLY appreciated.

@heresey
have you ever heard someone say the ear cannot hear it but the body recieves the sound signal... like bass, some you cannot hear but you feal it hummin right.. thats why i chose the full range beacuse it is beyond the average mid range setting.. but your right, a lot of pros are using it and they are successful with it so i guess its all about opinions and prefrence. Im learning a lot right now still but the direction my homie is takin me is to seperate live performance sound from the studio performance sound and choosing the right equipment. I'll ask his opinion about this mic.

@ the other 2
You asked me if i was in the game?
I am in this with the homies from my bloc my family. We dont call it "THE GAME" Its more serious then a game. You do what you do, i aint gonna hate you for that. The reason i posted that shit up is beacuse im tired of seeing people post up shit about him in a negative way. Good luck with your shit regardless.

@heresey have you ever heard someone say the ear cannot hear it but the body recieves the sound signal... like bass, some you cannot hear but you feal it hummin right
ive heard someone say something similar to that. however in RECORDING and MIXING you typically CUT unwanted frequencies. regardless if your body is picking them up or not.
like bass, some you cannot hear but you feal it hummin right
i dont know if your familiar with tracking (especially tracking bands) but the MAJORITY of engineers i have spoken with, worked with or read about usually CUT 20-40hz (bass frequencies). they may boost 40-60 depending on the type of music but 20 is usually carved out...
but your right, a lot of pros are using it and they are successful with it so i guess its all about opinions and prefrence.
yes it is about opinions and preference. i am TOTALLY against mpc's and tritons but we have people on this board who use them. i think mpc's are very USELESS machines but KEV SKI uses one (and kev ski is **TIGHT**). i can go all day long on how the mpc 2000 is a 16 bit machine that doesnt support a 96khz sample rate.....see...playing the specs game......
Im learning a lot right now still but the direction my homie is takin me is to seperate live performance sound from the studio performance sound and choosing the right equipment.
of course you should seperate the two. live performance consoles (as in live SHOWS) are somewhat different than "studio" consoles......but..take this as an example. the mackie 24-4 or 32-4 or 32-8 can be used as a LIVE venue mixer OR studio mixer. ive seen the yamaha digital mixers at live shows and studios.......if it sounds good use it. if it doesnt sound good find what does and use that.
