Carlson had a lot to do with the game plan, so that was a nice chunk missing from that game plan once he went down.
what about for the rest of the season though? I mean honestly the only game seattle really impressed offensively was against the saints. Sure they had a couple solid games here and there but nothing impressive like that one game. The rest of the year totally flat.

Of course, I know not all of this is his fault he could only do so much with what he had. But still, so many times on 3rd and 1 and he'll throw a 20+ yard pass attempt or something like that.

Meh, looks like the Rams got Josh today:

Josh McDaniels will be Sam Bradford's new mentor after all.

The Rams hired McDaniels as offensive coordinator, team and league sources told ESPN on Tuesday.

Earlier Tuesday, sources said a significant snag in negotiations between the Rams and McDaniels had led the team to broaden its search to include coaches with West Coast-system roots in which Bradford excelled during his rookie season.

McDaniels will replace Pat Shurmur, who was hired as head coach of the Cleveland Browns last week.

After two days of negotiations failed to a produce a deal, talks between the Rams and McDaniels resumed later Tuesday.

McDaniels was fired as the Broncos' head coach on Dec. 6 after a rocky year-plus tenure in Denver. However, Broncos quarterback Kyle Orton flourished under McDaniels' tutelage, reaching career highs in yards, touchdowns and passer ratings over two seasons with McDaniels.

Bradford passed for 3,512 yards and threw 18 touchdowns and 15 interceptions this year after being selected No. 1 overall out of Oklahoma in April's draft. He is expected to be named the NFL's rookie of the year.

McDaniels also oversaw Tom Brady and current Chiefs quarterback Matt Cassel while on New England's staff.

After Seattle fired offensive coordinator Jeremy Bates on Tuesday, McDaniels name surfaced in connection with that opening.

The Rams even went through league channels Tuesday morning to request interviews with coaches including Bill Musgrave of the Falcons and Darrell Bevell of the Vikings. Musgrave is the assistant head coach/quarterbacks coach in Atlanta and Bevell has been in limbo as the offensive coordinator in Minnesota.

Information from ESPN senior NFL analyst Chris Mortensen and ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter contributed to this report.

RENTON, Wash. - The Seattle Seahawks hired Tom Cable as assistant head coach/offensive line coach and Todd Wash as defensive line coach, the team announced today. The Seahawks promoted Kris Richard to defensive backs coach/cornerbacks and Rocky Seto to assistant defensive backs coach/safeties. The Seahawks also relieved Jeremy Bates of his offensive coordinator duties.

Cable, 46, spent the last two-plus seasons as head coach of the Oakland Raiders where he led the team to a 17-27 record. He served as the club's offensive line coach (2007-08) before being named interim head coach for the final 12 games of 2008. Following that season, he was named head coach on February 3, 2009. Cable began his coaching career in 1987 as a graduate assistant at Idaho. He coached in the college ranks for 19 seasons, including four as the head coach at Idaho (2000-03) before entering the NFL in 2006 as offensive line coach of the Atlanta Falcons. Cable played high school football at Snohomish High where he graduated in 1982.

Wash spent the last four seasons with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, including the last three as defensive line coach. He originally joined Tampa Bay in 2007 as a defensive quality control coach. In 2010, Wash's defensive line helped the Bucs rank seventh in the NFL in pass defense, and 17th overall.

Richard (ruh-SHARD) spent last season as assistant defensive backs coach after spending the previous two seasons as a graduate assistant at Southern California. Originally a third-round pick (85th overall) by Seattle, Richard played in 38 games with one start for Seattle from 2002-04 before playing one season in San Francisco, seeing action in one game.

Seto came to Seattle last season where he served as the club's defensive quality control coach. Prior to that, Seto spent 10 seasons at Southern California in various capacities, including secondary coach (2006-08), before being named defensive coordinator/secondary coach in 2009.

Great hire for Seattle.

Cable is gonna do wonders to that offensive line and help mentor okung to be a great LT.

I liked cable a lot n so did the players for the raiders as well. He's gonna be a great addition for the Seattle coaching staff. I'm happy for cable. I'm glad he got another coaching position although it is for a team I dislike but oh well.

Good shit folks!

I wasn't expecting anything more than what the team showed us this season. The team went through a lot of transactions this off season and during the season. There really wasn't no rhythm at all. I'm quite surprised how things did turn out, though. I think this team is headed in the right direction, especially with the hiring of Tom Cable. Just need to fix some certain posistions now. Gotta fix that damn o-line and secondary.

Carroll says re-signing Hasselbeck is 'top priority'

RENTON – Re-signing quarterback Matt Hasselbeck is the Seahawks' top priority heading into the offseason, coach Pete Carroll said at his season-concluding press conference Wednesday at the VMAC.

Hasselbeck said throughout the season and again on Monday that he'd like to return next season, and Carroll has made it clear the Seahawks would like to re-sign the veteran quarterback.

He reiterated that statement again Wednesday.

"It's the top priority," Carroll said. "It's the top priority in the program. You have to deal with this or you don't understand the game. I think we understand it really well."

Hasselbeck had one of the roughest seasons of his 10-year tenure as the Seahawks starter, throwing 12 touchdown passes and 17 interceptions while still managing to lead Seattle to the divisional round of the playoffs.

He turns 36 on Sept. 25, and is an unrestricted free agent.

Carroll said he and general manager John Schneider met with Hasselbeck immediately after the Seahawks' final team meeting on Monday, an indication of the urgency with which Seattle is moving to stabilize the quarterback position before a possible lockout on March 4, the expiration date of the current collective bargaining agreement between the player's union and the league owners.

If there is a work stoppage, there would be no free agent signing period until the NFLPA and the league owners reach a new deal. That adds pressure for teams and players to reach deals prior to the months of uncertainty that lie ahead.

All of that considered, Carroll sees Hasselbeck as Seattle's starting quarterback in 2011.

"I don't think there's any other way to look at it," he said. "He's our starting quarterback, but he won't be under contract for a while, so we'll have to figure that part out."

Seattle should definitely re-sign those players. There are a few others I'm on the fence about. I don't know who they should use their tag on?

SEAHAWKS INTERVIEW BEVELL

The Seahawks’ search for an offensive coordinator has begun with Darrell Bevell, who held the same position with the Minnesota Vikings the past five seasons.
Coach Pete Carroll said during his just-completed season-ending news conference that Bevell is being interviewed for the vacancy that opened Tuesday when Jeremy Bates was relieved of his duties after one season with the Seahawks.
Carroll also said that the decision to part ways with Bates was “a philosophical issue.”
The Seahawks also are looking for a quarterbacks coach after Jedd Fisch left to become offensive coordinator at the University of Miami. Carroll said he would prefer to have an offensive coordinator and a QB coach, rather than hiring one person to fill both jobs.
