did you unplug both the modem and router? leave them both unplugged for 30 sec, and reboot your pc. i was reading online that you might try and call your ISP and request a new DNS if all else fails.

so he told me he has a program that changes his IP address frequently, would this be the problem?

Yeah I had that program along time ago and i cant find it anywhere on my comp. I think i deleted it years ago

Are you sure you don't have a wep key on your router? It's like a password.. I know you said you've tried everything but when you do an internet connection test what happens?

only thing left to suggest is maybe the unit you have is defective. try calling sony tomorrow. dont stress for now. but i gotta ask, what happened when you plugged the ps3 directly to the modem?

I heard updating the firmware on the ps3 can help. Do you have a flash drive available to download it to? Then just stick the flashdrive into the ps3 and see if you can update it and get it online from there..

Shit is pissing me off. I bought a Linksys Router(not wireless) and cant seem to get an internet connection. Its keeps sayin connection failed DNS problem. I have googled it but nothing seems to work. Cn anyone give me some advise thanks

I used to ahve that problem couple years ago when i first got my ps3 its Bc you gotta go to the linksys routers site get the ip address and enable it then program them into your ps3 manually then do the automatic detect. also if you have a computer hooked up to the wireless then you may have to use the same ip adress from the computer thats in your run configurations

sony or his internet provider not gonna fuck with him and help him. sony will just say call your provider then the provider will say they cant heklp him bc the router made by linyxs. try to use your dns code from your pc . If taht dont work ill hop on my ps3 and revisit the full steps i did to get my shit working and post them
