Well if people can't get out to Shizuoka then muthafuckas gotta roll with what they got. Everything gets weak over time, and after going to Tokyo and Shibuya numerous times, Osaka made them look pale in comparison. As for Yokohama, I don't hit it up.. there's only a couple spots I hear of and you don't get play unless you're black.

As for hip hop kit, that ain't even necessary cause they think all black dudes are athletes or entertainers.

Yeah, its called a gimmick. No one gives two shits about black rappers for a reason...there is 25,000 of them. How many white girl rappers are out there? Very few, especially with that "hipster" look. Kreayshawn isn't selling out shows or music stores becuase she is an amazing lyricist or becuase she can battle rap...she is doing it becuase she is a "freak show" of sorts...she is a taboo, an anomaly. Stretch is smart, thats for sure. If Kreayshawn were a black chick, no one would even know or care about her.

She sells because her fans can relate to her and she speaks to young girls who is the buying audience. The reason why she is so successful is because girls are tired of listening to niggas in their 30's rapping about money bitches and selling dope. That used to be taboo and it opened suburban kids up to a lifestyle they were never exposed to before. But with the internet and every gangsta rapper on earth that story is old. Kreayshawn brings something that is not out there right now and thats a voice for young girls that is not based on an un obtainable image. Every fan feels like they know her because she's as transparent as one can be in her position. And they also feel as if they can be her. The thing with it is it's not for you musically but every artist on this board can learn alot from her. I just think that the "Why her, I'm way better" mentallity in the bay is the problem. She didn't take anybodies deal, there isn't designated deals per market. What she did do was bring back good business to Bay Area artist cuz for the longest the bay was considered bad business. She's doing 45 min show sets worldwide without an album yet so that means it's more then a gimmick.

Like i said, a gimmick. White girl + rapping = gimmick. While everything you said is valid, the fact remains that she is a hipster, white girl RAP artist...she is a walking oxymoron.

A gangster rapper is a oxymoron. A "real Nigga" rapping is a oxymoron. At one point a person from the west coast rapping was a "gimmick" or a female rapping was a "gimmick". A white man rapping was a "gimmick". The biggest rappers in the game today are a rapper in his forties, a jewish canadian actor, a 30 year old blood from new orleans that skates and a black woman from Queens with a british accent that calls herself a "Barbie". Hip-Hop has evolved. And there is room for everybody.

Seeing how there are only a handful of women rappers NOW, that are even visible in the industry, i wouldn't even call it a gimmick...its merely seen as "amazing" becuase they are making it in "mans world". However, when the artist is black, its not even looked at twice. Because even though they are a woman, they are still performing an artform that is widely considered to be "black".

I just feel a gimmick is based on a artist or record being marketed and promoted based on only one thing that will get the attention of popular culture. Kreayshawn has been successful despite being exactly what we are told would never sell. A white woman from the bay are rapping about thrift store clothes and recreational drugs. On paper this should never work.
