I also don't know if Monroe doesn't have power either. Every fight I've seen of his he's really not trying to impose his will even against guys that are over matched he's more than content to box them up for 8-10 rounds. That's the first time I've ever seen him fight like that and he sure was whipping Golovkin's head around for a guy that can't punch.

I think he's got some pop. He was saying he was going to KO Golovkin before the fight, like he seriously meant it. The way he was hitting the bags in training it looked to me he was focusing on power.

The way GGG cuts off the ring on 'em is wickeeeed. Shit does not look fun for his opponent.
thats what having damn near 400 amateur fights will do for you. Be way ahead of the curve when turning pro. Now he just needs to find an A fighter to fight. Sergio ran to retirement and Cotto is a way undersized middleweight.

How the fuck did Sergio "run to retirement" when he had two surgeries, a 14 month lay off and was taken advantage of by the opportunist Cotto? Cotto has the belt, he either drops it or he fights GGG. Personally I'd prefer to see him drop it as he has no business campaigning at MW but Cotto keeps taking the easy way out. He ducked Canelo, he is fighting GGG leftovers, etc.

We will never agree on certain things like Cotto ducking Canelo. Now thats a joke but nothing new to add to that situation except he will probably fight Canelo at the end of the year. And Sergio could have fought GGG instead of Cotto and Cotto would have been a fool to pass up that fight cuz it was good money. Also why was Sergio cleared to fight if he was in such bad shape, I refuse to believe it. Cotto rocked him early and Sergio never recovered. I wish myself Cotto wasnt at middleweight but it is what it is.

I still view it the same as what Manny did at 147 cuz he was undersized so they carefully chose his opponents and had catchweights

Loved the skills of chocolito, he put on a great perfomance. Looked very relaxed. Ggg did what he does, but looked sloppy doing it. Displayed no defense whatsoever and got hit way too much imo. Not sold on ggg hype, im picking canelo too beet both ggg and cotto

I think Cotto gives Canelo a boxing lesson for part of the fight, gets in trouble late for possible stoppage- Canelo by TKO. Picking Canelo too, but only slightly I think it'll be closer than most people do.

I think GGG beats Canelo--and fairly easily. Sparring is sparring but supposedly GGG buzzed Canelo in the early rounds and Canelo spent the rest of the session working on boxing.

On the big stage I think Canelo will not be able to help himself and try to trade with GGG only to get blasted out early.

He's extremely cocky and confident in his chin, once he feels what Monroe has he wasn't worried about taking shots. You could see in the first two rounds Golovkin was a patient stalker, seeing what Monroe is all about and he destroyed him in those two rounds, then he goes into terminator mode where he doesn't give a fuck about getting hit. No way he fights that reckless against Canelo, he'd fight like those first two rounds or like the entire fight against Stevens who is a big puncher.

I think Canelo vs Golovkin has fight of the year potential, just depends on how willing Canelo is to take damage because in order to beat Golovkin he's going to have to get into a firefight at some point.

It's not the trading that I see cause for concern but the lack of head movement at times and the way he let Monroe get on the inside, go to his body and then back up top. When Monroe fought in the pocket and kept his head low and guard up GGG couldn't really do anything. Canelo can fight in the pocket, so if he allows Canelo to do the same thing Monroe did then he is going to be in trouble. I'm not saying he will be beaten but he will be in trouble.

But that's why Kellerman questioned GGG on whether or not he is allowing the opponent to punch him. GGG responds by saying,"it's his drama show." Once he fights Canelo or any other top fighter we will see a totally different GGG. Like when we saw Kovalev fight Hopkins.

That's simply bad English on his part. There is no telling what the fuck he meant by that.

What Monroe was doing was more than just standing in the pocket he was inside fighting basically. That's not something Canelo does so that wouldn't be an issue in that matchup, Canelo is a boxer-puncher so he would be the one on the back foot looking to counter and GGG plays the aggressor. Canelo would have to stand his ground often but both him and GGG like a little bit of space to operate from.

No one said he was just standing in the pocket. Read what you quoted again. And I wouldn't say Canelo doesn't fight in the inside I would say he doesn't do it as much because he is a boxer puncher. With GGG, again, there was minimal head movement and the way Monroe went low and back up top was problematic for him at times. This is something Canelo likes to do as well but Canelo does it with way better efficiency. Again, I'm not saying he can beat GGG, but GGG is not going to dominate him like Floyd did (and I just recently watched the Canelo Floyd fight, the judge who had it 114-114 should have been banned for life.) But back to these guys, I don't think the prodding come forward style plays in his favor when facing Canelo. His ko power does, but his guard, the way he's coming in and not moving his head should be a concern.
