That is ridiculous. Yes the crime scene is where the shooting took place but the more important evidence is going to be found in the apartment.
Was is it just 2 people?
Who else had been in the apartment?
What were they using to make bombs?
What internet sites were they using?
What information was on their computers?
Is there any evidence of other attack plans?
Did they have accomplices?
Did anyone help them make bombs?
