I think the Mora fight took little out of the Floyd win over Mosley. It looks a lot less impressive and kinda proves the thought that shane is old.
I had Floyd at number one based off the Mosley fight, but like you said Shane looked like straight garbage after last week, makes me think Floyd should've dominated even more. Pac-Man is back in my number 1 now.

You're pretty high on Nonito huh 2-0? I like the guy, and I know him personally...but he needs to step up his opposition! LOL

I thought he should've been in the mix with that little single elimination 118lbs tourney.

EVERYONE is ducking Nonito. Montiel, et al. All of the top guys have ducked him. I don't think he should be penalized for it so #3 or #4 he should get as far as I'm concerned.

After Ward beats Dirrell I'll bump Ward to #3 and drop Nonito down to #4.

What's the reason for dropping Marquez? Marquez dropped a fight far out of his weight class to arguably the best fighter in that weight class. He's still king of a division that he probably doesn't even belong in and he's taking yet another fight against a top ranked contender in the division.

Good to see people Pong some love. Reclaimed flyweight supremacy at 30+ years old in a division he became champion in 9 years ago.

I dropped Marquez because in the last year and a half his fight against Diaz was pointless and he didn't look all that super to me and he lost to floyd. He can get back on my personal list if he beats katsidis.

The Ring has him at #3 I just think that's high.

Uh huh...but then you have Floyd up there, with a win over Marquez, and a win against Mosley, after his ''retirement''...which was long enough to bounce him off the list, by your standards...

Right?
Shane Mosley was a champion and the #1 or #2 ranked Welterweight when Floyd beat him. So yeah, it's a lot of different than Marquez losing a fight and fighting an unranked fighter who lost 2 of his last 3 fights.

Bernard Hopkins was actually ranked top 5 and hasn't lost since, but he fight Enreque and Roy Jones, so he got dropped from the list as well do to poor opposition. That's basically the same scenario as Marquez almost except Marquez actually lost and bernard didn't (granted it was to a much better fighter but still).

I'm not saying marquez shouldn't be on the list, it's opinion based, but on my personal list I took him off for the reasons stated above. His upcoming fight against Katsidis in November though (which could be fight of the year), assuming he wins, will automatically put him back on my list somewhere top 6 depending on his performance.

Also just to note, if Andre Ward beats Dirrell convincingly, I'm putting him at #2 and dropping Floyd down to 3. On the flip side if Dirrell beats Ward he deserves to be top 8, since really, dirrell has never lost as a pro (he was robbed against Froch as far as I'm concerned).

Why do you say that? This two of the best at SMW going at it.

Mosley looked like shit about Mora, but a few things - the fight was at 154 pounds and Mora is a naturally 160 pound fighter (which is why he didn't even make the 154 pound weight limit he came in over), Mora is awkward as fuck, Mora fought like a bitch and didn't engage.

So I think in those circumstances pretty much any welterweight is going to look bad. Put Miguel Cotto in the same boat and see how good he looks. Probably not great. Even Vernon Forrest looked like shit against Mora.

WARD VS DIRREL.... JUST THE STYLES THEY BRING
Hmm, from my point of view it's their styles that make this match so interesting. I guess if you want a non-stop slug fest you'll be disappointed, but this as skilled as it gets. It's going to be interesting to see how Ward deals with Dirrells speed and boxing abilities, and how Dirrell handles Ward's abilities and his willingness to do whatever it takes to win.

Dirrell vs Abraham was an awesome fight to watch and very entertaining. So was Ward vs Kessler and even against Green I thought it was fascinating to see Ward bully Green the way he did. Should be a great fight!

I'm taking Ward and Froch....but with King Arthur, he's one of those guys with true one punch knockout power. I just think he has these long spurts of inactivity that are costly on the scorecards.

If Abraham could special order a fighter at the top of the division that's made for his style, it'd be Carl Froch. Unless Froch decides to do something different than he's done in every other fight he's ever had then Abraham's eventually gonna catch with something vicious and even though he has a solid chin I'm not positive that he's able to take such a shot.

Naner12, I'm going to have to agree with you on this one Forch is going to sleep somewhere between 9th-12th round. Ward vs Dirrell is a very hard fight to pick a guy. I will have to go with Dirrell just because he has fought away from home and has had the harder fights, so I think he can handle the pressure better. I can't wait until Nov..
