Huh? Ok, I am done....
I can't stutter on the internet, Tony.

Mike Tyson was not a great defender, he was not a 'skilled' boxer...he used brute force. He wasn't a jabber. He couldn't outsmart anyone. Compared to, say, Evander Holyfield (LOL...in the 90's), he was mediocre in the SKILLS department.

Knockout power doesn't make you great; see Haseem Hamed, Zab Judah, etc.

You don't become the youngest heavyweight champion of all time without boxing skills. You need more than just power to become champion at such a young age.

So...what where those skills?

He fought garbage fighters to get to that point.

I'm a Tyson fan, but I can acknowledge that he wasn't the most 'skilled' boxer...

All I'm asking for is for you to tell me what incredible 'skills' Mike Tyson had.

1st you say he wasn't "skilled" now you say he wasn't the "most" skilled and now you're asking me what "incredible" skills did Mike have? Come on now Redrum....

You don't become heavyweight champ at a young age like that without skills. Takes more than just power dog. I am not a Tyson fan but I can acknowledge that.

Summary of Mike Tyson:

Incredible power puncher. Had good head movement pre-1991ish. Was fairly good with angles.

Defense was mostly non-existant. Had no punches besides a hooking left/right or uppercut. No jab to keep opponents at bay. Footwork was lacking. Never had the ring smarts; 'street smarts' can only get you so far. Was never comfortable clinching when in trouble; thus, some of his knockouts. Panics easily; acts out in frustration.

^ Read my post; those are my thoughts on Tyson.

Back to topic, I'd love to see someone definatively step up to face Cotto. I don't see Judah/Margarito/Gomes being the ''one'' to give Cotto a true test. I'm not a Cotto fan, by any means, but I just don't see any of these guys giving him a true test.

Personally, as I stated, I'd rather see Judah again, because I don't think Margarito would last half the fight. Judah, we could get 10-11 rounds. LOL.

I truly wonder, though, when the next superstar will come around, and who it will be. This year is looking very promising, but it'll take a lot to outmatch the year we just had (2007), with Marquez/Vasquez, Marquez/Barerra, Mayweather/De La Hoya, Mayweather/Hatton, etc...

Only people I can see beating Cotto is Mayweather (definately) and Paul Williams (maybe because of the height/reach advantage). I also would love to see a Cintron/Cotto fight.

Mayweather, sure...that's a given.

I'm still not sold on Williams; maybe that's wrong, but I just don't see 'it' yet from him.

A Cintron fight could be good, but I also thought Mosley could outwork Cotto and beat him, so who knows?

I can see that (DLH over Cotto), but I think DLH would have to be the 'old' Oscar, and box his opponent. His last fight (vs Mayweather), he tried to be the bully, and unless it's an absurdly outmatched boxer, that doesn't work for him. He'd be better playing the counterpuncher, IMO, and pick and choose his spots. If it was to take place this year, it could be a huge fight, and I think I would put my money on Oscar.
