The recommend a documentary thread

I know there's a documentary thread in here already, but it's for favorite documentaries. This thread is documentaries that may not be a favorite, but are worth recommending.

First up:

Kicking It
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1157668/

This film is about an annual World Cup soccer tournament held every year for homeless people. That's right, a homeless world cup. As crazy as it sounds, they actually put soccer teams together from 48 countries around the world and have them compete in a soccer tournament held in Cape Town South Africa.

It's an interesting look at homelessness around the world, and the amount of hope that can be brought to people from something as simple as a game of soccer. This film follows several of the athletes as they prepare to go to South Africa to compete.

For the most part I'm not into sports, especially not into soccer, but I found this film to be very powerful.

IMDB said:
Kicking It chronicles the lives of seven players taking a once in a lifetime opportunity to represent their country at the Cape Town 2006 Homeless World Cup. Najib from war torn Afghanistan; Alex from the slums of Kenya; Damien and Simon from the drug rehab clinics of Dublin, Ireland; Craig from the streets of Charlotte, North Carolina; Jesus from the overflowing public shelters of Madrid, Spain, and Slavan from the shadow culture of the illegal rural immigrants to the big city of St. Petersburg, Russia.

I don't think anyone here has posted "Children of Beslan."
It's about the Beslan school hostage crisis that happened in Russia a few years back. The children who survived it are the ones talking about it.

Battlefield!

"Battlefield is a documentary series initially shown in 1994 that explores the most important battles fought primarily during the Second World War but also the Vietnam War. The series employs a novel approach in which history is described by detailed accounts of major battles together with background and contextual information."

Dear Zachary - A Letter To A Son About His Father

I've never been so deeply affected to the core by a film, as I was watching this. I've never hated another human being so much before this film. The last time I had actually cried watching a film was when I was a kid... until I watched this film. It left me dazed for weeks afterward, and I still can't fully grasp how much it affected me.

I'm a fan of good documentaries, but this is not a good documentary. It's a documentary that was never supposed to see the light of day... until the circumstances changed during filming.

Watch this film.... please. It needs to be seen.

WOW, holy shit. Good recommendation. Definitely a good one to watch alone if you don't want people seeing you cry.
