too many to mention, so I'll discuss the most recent one I watched, which was called "Zoo" and it's on ON-DEMAND on the Sundance channel.

Zoo is about some fucked up shit, something that happened in WA not that long ago, which was a guy that died because he was having sex with a horse. lmao. But some how, the director (Robinson Devor) was so talented that he made this sick topic into a very interesting & entertaining documentary, the cinematography was amazing, etc.

They made a post about it on releaselog a year or two back. I think the same thing now as I did then, "Fuck that shit. I'll skip the documentary about a dude getting fucked to death by a horse".

thats what I thought at first. I only started to watch it because my girlfriend didn't believe the guy was from seattle. So we started watching just so I could prove a point, but it was surprisingly interesting from the very beginning and we got drawn in. Very well done, worth watching.

Dark Days (2000) - Marc Singer

Near Penn Station, next to the Amtrak tracks, squatters have been living for years. Marc Singer goes underground to live with them, and films this "family." A dozen or so men and one woman talk about their lives: horrors of childhood, jail time, losing children, being coke-heads. They scavenge, they've built themselves sturdy one-room shacks; they have pets, cook, chat, argue, give each other haircuts. A bucket is their toilet. Leaky overhead pipes are a source of water for showers. They live in virtual darkness. During the filming, Amtrak gives a 30-day eviction notice
Highly recommended.

Little Dieter Needs to Fly (1997) - Werner Herzog

In 1966, Dieter Dengler was shot down over Laos, captured, and, down to 85 pounds, escaped. Barefoot, surviving monsoons, leeches, and machete-wielding villagers, he was rescued. Now, near 60, living on Mt. Tamalpais, Dengler tells his story: a German lad surviving Allied bombings in World War II, postwar poverty, apprenticed to a smith, beaten regularly. At 18, he emigrates and peels potatoes in the U.S. Air Force. He leaves for California and college, then enlistment in the Navy to learn to fly. A quiet man of sorrows tells his story: war, capture, harrowing conditions, escape, and miraculous rescue. Where did he find the strength; how does he now live with his memories?
If you haven't seen at least one Herzog documentary then there is something wrong with you. This is as good of place as any to start out.
