i don't know if leaking for free online 3 years ago and only being played on LA radio constitutes a song as being a "hit" but ok. yeah i know hes on hoo-banging also but my point is, those songs were for his Big Ego/Sony album and I'm sure he has recorded a few versions of his album since signing that deal in 2005. I haven't seen that "official" press release anywhere so Im not gonna take that as final.
I am not hating on Glasses by any means but with all the bragging he did on countless interviews he really hasn't backed all this talk about being the best. It's 3 years now that he has been on a major! These new artists really like getting pimped by the game.

Now this man here is a perfect example of what you should do as a new artist! Big Rich had one of the most anticipated debut albums and he came out on Koch.....he didn't wait for any established artist to babysit him and put him out. E-40 cosigned his album but thats as far as it went....I don't get why these rappers like sitting on the shelf, it must be comfortable up there. Indy is the way to go.
Why, they're basically doing what he did 6-7 years ago when he was with Done Deal. Livewire is following the mold that Get Low and Sic Wid It helped put the Bay on the map. Done Deal was locally successful with it and had all the tools to blow up, but unfortunately couldnt capitalize as a label. But if you look at the DD roster back in the early 2000's, they have almost all gone on to successful solo careers(Quinn, Bailey, Big Rich, Ya Boy, AP.9).
People really seem to be divided on Ya Boy. I think Ya Boy is best when he leaves the pop type rap alone. When he's rapping about the average shit that every other rapper raps about, he's average. But when he puts his mind on rapping about some real shit, he's stand out. His wordplay and similes were refreshing when he first came out. He still has that ability (100 Bars of Death if you don't believe me), he just doesn't rap like that enough.
