How does that not make sense. Not everyone on the siccness is from the bay. So he wants to know if anyone from the bay is an x-ray tech.

On topic what type of schools you looking at? I'm sure they all say they're the best but I'm just curious. Sounds like a pretty good profession.

I'm trying to go back to school too, but I'm probably gonna settle for Delta, just not too sure on what I want to do right now.

Its a pretty good profession.

School is about 2.5 years long, well the program is.

Prerequisites will probably take you about 1.5-2 years, if you go full time.

Starting pay is around 27-35 an hour. Pretty good, for being fresh out of school. Obviously, the more experience and certifications you get the more money you can make.

The job itself is cake though ! No dirty work, depending on which field of radiology you get in to.

Kaiser Permanente has programs that are expensive (around 14K) and really competitive, as far as getting in. Mills-Peninsula has a program as well.

Most of these programs are impacted though, so plan on either being on a waiting list for a couple of years (after you complete the prerequisites) or paying to get into a private school.

Your best bet is a community college.

Start off by taking some basic biology courses:

Anatomy
Physiology
Chemistry

If you haven't already...

^ Haha, naw my girls pops is one too. Back then they had on the job training, so they didn't have to go through what we do today.

But then again, there probably weren't 700 people waiting in line to become one back then either. They probably made like 3.51/hr back then. Ha

I graduated from the kaiser school (kpsahs) In Richmond last September and am now getting paid 40/hr posting from the iphone. All the schools (foothill, Canada, merritt, sf city, kaiser) are competitive and demanding. Kaiser is expensive compared to the jc's tho, i owe $10,000 student loan right now.

Definetly take all the prereqs and do research, also try and get good letters of recomendation (doctors) as well.

It's a good job tho, alotta cool people and good job security, healthcare is real good in this economy.

I know there was another rad tech on the siccness that works at kaiser Richmond (Csider?).

medical schools and city colleges. x-ray techs do jack shit and get anywhere from $75,000-$90,000 a year. and if u work for kaiser its more, with free medical beneifets for the fam and u and they pay for additional schooling

my home boy is gonna be an x-ray tech . on that note i have no information for you . im going to school to be an emt , imma fuckin save lives
thats a dope profession. i currently work at a skilled nursing facility/rehab center and most the emts say its hella chill, mostly transporting patients.

Mission College... Gavilan out your direction has a Radiology program as well.

dope, $40 sounds great.

I'm sure mark 7 is joking , but don't even try those bunk ass schools, I think they only give out limited licenses. Make sure the school gives out certification to be complete diagnostic radiologic tecnologist.

good lookin out. hopefully this makes this a lot easier for me thanks guys
