^^^^ That would make sense..... So the radio dont really have a say-so of what they play??? They just playing whoever paying is what you saying.
You could get in the mix show and they might do some call in shit but the radio really only plays what they get paid for...Nobody has a chance unless the y paying to get into regular rotation

then why would major labels take into consideration the count from BDS if you had to pay to get on in each market??? that wouldnt make any sense unless you could get on without money. which you can! the most powerful thing in this business is the relationships you create. first your relationship with GOD... but after that, anyone else that could make a move for you if they REALLY wanted to. a PD is only human, and a lot of them are women.. come on homie. if you have a relationship with one of the main djs (which are always in the streets cuz thats part of the hustle and how they create loyalty for the station) or a program director, and your SONG IS HOT.. youre in there. for real.. you might end up buyin some drinks or something to make it happen, but not no, "heres 20 racks to play my shit for a couple weeks"...
you probably already know somebody who knows somebody and just aint utilizing your resources..

i know theres people that would strongly disagree with this due to the minimal amount of airplay local artists get in this market, but i believe it is possible if its approached the right way. im baffled that mitchy aint on the radio out here, but theres got to be a reason besides just payola.

shit, he might even be on the radio and i wouldnt know cuz i dont never listen to that shit..

BDS and Soundscan are pretty much just proof these dudes sold this many records and got this many spins. You have to think a big label has to spend tons of dough on breaking a new artist and when a artist is already semi developed and they can see some demand for them already it makes them wanna take that risk. I think you can get a few spins in the mix show but you will never be in regular rotation without some payola or a station like z90 my follow suite with power 106 cause power might be giving some spins to some local dudes. The truth is most of the radio djs dont got any say in what they play except for the mix show. A lot of clear channel stations wont play a lot of shit either....lots of censorship. Also most people working at the radio stations are straight nerds and dont have their ear to the street and careless about local artist.

Sending a random package to a program director is like cold calling them and asking them to play your stuff...when you have a radio promoter, they know all these directors and follow up for you and help arrange stuff like sponsoring give aways and stuff like that. I know your phone will ring a lot more if you decide to take the radio promo route and you will get a lot more interest.

Good observation, but this aint a mixtape....so I guess we can still hold our opinion and say mixtapes are a bad idea....Now albums with various artists to promote is a good idea....
