DIEGO IS WANNA BE AS FUK.. I HATE LIVIN HERE...

I'M FROM THE 559 NORTHERN CALI...CAN'T WAIT TO MOVE BACK HOME..
you hear that south shit cause you be around swabbys(navy niggas) and you don't be around real dago niggas that rep cali for real. niggas acknowleged the bay since the bay start puttin out music. i got put on in the 3rd grade when i first heard too $hort and 415. you must be young cause all youngsters out here just started bumpin dre. all the real ones heard dre in the 90s so you need to surround yourself wit some real ones and stop hatin cause your homesick. why did you move out here? you must have been ran out of ya city.

Precisely.

What's the big deal?

This is what you get when mufuckas concern themselves with things other than the actual music.

You make it sound like the bay area is one army and we're sellin secrets to the southern california army. There's no war going on here. @ 4fifteenrolla, you just want to see some conflict somewhere. You seem like the type to get off on other people's drama.

damn Mr Peete luckily u dont give advice for a living cuz u misread me completely, save the day job. as for what u said i dont want there to be conflict. I just want the bay to get what it rightfully deserves without there being a misappropriation of credit where it is not due. Im not sayin ppl cant or shouldnt work with anyone outside the bay but while we're gettin exposure i think its a touchy issue if we gain fame with the association of SD. I can see someone idiot writers sayin its a Bay/SD thing just because of the federation.

Its just how mf's didnt want that ATL group puttin out that song talkin about goin Dumb just b4 E-40 dropped Tell me When to go

shit case in point is that lil jon produced a good amount of the tracks on 40's latest CD and it can now be argued that Hyphy is nothin more than crunk with a bay rapper over the beat. I feel it needs to be bay artists, bay producers, bay labels for people to have no misunderstanding that this here is a truely bay area "movement"/style

Not sure where in my post I was tryin to give advice but...

The crazy thing about that last paragraph is when bay cats were being interviewed just as the hyphy craze started to take off, before 40's album even dropped THEY (bay cats) were calling hyphy a bay area version of crunk.

I'll say it again, people concern themselves with too many other things that have nothing to do with notes and the lyrics. Just enjoy the music. Who gives a fuck what an idiot writer says? Bottom line is if you aint comin with hit records, you leave yourself open to the media misrepresentations that you speak of. If hit records coming from the bay area were in abundance, there would be no mistaking where they were coming from. Atlanta mainstream artists are a PERFECT example of this.

Thats true! And i dont argue that but there are other factors involved with making it mainstream other than just putting out "hit records." You know how radio play works, you how big record companies monopolize and that producers go hand in hand with record companies so there's a lil more to it than just putting out a hit record. Its having EVERYTHING in your favor. Atlanta has HOT producers contractually linked to HOT record labels, which in turn have pull at radio stations, so when u throw in all that with a "hit record" do u have a place like Atlanta or a budding Texas (houston). So until the bay can have all those elements on our own we will forever be tweaked.

lets get fictional here for the sake of the argument...
u think if Clyde Carson (not the other cats in the team) blows up on a record label associated with some other region/regional artists that the bay would get love or would it just be Clyde Carson gettin luv as coo artist? More than likely Clyde would get major luv as an artist from the bay, rather than a Bay artist, which in essence puts whats hot on Clyde and excludes the Bay area, rather than makin the Bay hot and opening doors for all other bay artists.

WHen ATL got its own shit together with hot producers and record lables it blew up, but only after that. b4 Atlanta was just the city Outkast, JD, and 112 came from. now a mf from ATL just has to make a bullshit song and it has the potential of becoming the next big thing. Take weak ass D4L and all these other 1 hit wonders comin out just cuz the area is hot

bundle all that up and thats why im sayin the bay artists need to blow up with nothin but bay associations so the whole area can get in the spotlight.

Prime example is St Louis. BLOOD when Nelly first came out the whole area of St Louis was the talk of the nation. But after he isolated himself and all that STL gets no luv as an area, except for the few artists that were able to make a name for themself in that timespan, like Chingy and Murphy Lee.. but thats about it

btw, we all know there's more to a hit record than just lyrics and production, if ur defining hit by the # of units sold or airplay (tv/radio). If somehow 50cent were to be body swaped with some cat in Alaska or Idaho i doubt he'd get the same luv, or if he woke up 1 day and was some lanky asian cat (no disrespect to Asian folks out there)

That's true to a certain extent. In 50's case, his first "hit" (I won't count How To Rob) was Wanksta. It was big before he had a video for it.

As far as the other stuff, I agree that if you're in the industry you need to concern yourself with all of that. I just think that the casual fan gets way too into all that other shit that has nothing to do with the music, which in turn has an adverse affect on the music because people start buying (or not buying) music based on things other than the actual quality of the music.

true. well a true music enthusiast rather than ur casual music listener will always keep quality in mind and not just go with what other people r feelin. that definitely came into play with every die hard bay fan dating back to the days of the early 90s/late 80s.

sadly said most ppl that listen to music dont really focus on one genre, they tend to be the type to watch TRL, 106 n Park and listen to the radio and get all they need. Then you have people who have 400+ CDs, follow certain genre's and can just appreciate music, and those are few and far between condiering.. so to worry about the casual fan is pointless cuz they r probably casual with who and what they listen to..

but then again i was solely a frisco head that I never gave Oakland rappers a real listening until i was about 17. B4 that I was pretty much all frisco and vallejo

if mf's didnt care what mf's think mf's wouldnt put out mixtapes or one song every 3 months for a full year++++ to get a feel for what mf's like or dont. but yeah they could probably care less, but when the audience can give a fuck about the artist thinks its curtain call. ask some of ur old favorite rappers that probably work at Pier 1 lol

federation fucks with people outside the bay because rick rock sells beats to non bay artists, so he'll have access to people outside the bay. also, people from so-cal will see so-cal artists on the album and pick it up because of that. y'all need to realize that not every rapper wants to be a local artist, some have bigger aspirations.
Right!!!

If anyone on here had the chance to work with a percentage of the artists that FEDs do, Im sure you wouldnt pass it up...

If you want to keep this a "Bay" movement artists will keep selling 10k. We are one state here thousands of miles from anywhere else with a remotely competitive rap scene.

There is some decent talent in San Diego. Im surprised nobody from the Bay but Mess has hooked up with Mitchy Slick.

I agree Southern California shouldn't be influencing anything, but if you think about it its really Southern California imitating Northern California more than anything else.

But I agree about them showin no love to the North for a long time. I had to laugh my ass off when I hear all these posts about Snoop showin Bay love and uniting the West Coast...Snoop only hooked up with 2 or 3 Bay rappers from 1991-2004 and now that the North is hot up here its all about Unification...
Mitchy haz hooked up with more then Mess. He done hooked up with Guce, E-40 & Yukmouth & also JT(look @ Strong Arm Robbery 2 DVD) Guce iz one of the big reasons he blew up in the Bay.
