1. the Og were real OGs and got money without majors so they didnt fall off that just aint fucc with rap for a long time
2. when hyphy left mob music and tried to create its own sound if it aint broke dont fix it
3. niggaz run game and tring to capitalize on other genres like the ATL south shit because thy can no longer capitalize on New Orleans shit thanks to Master P
4. the youngster in the game have no style on their own and basically biten whats hip now
5. The OG that were tite and left the rap alone to explore other ventures now comming but was never constant so they fans are fans of other peoples music now

Just my opinion

who can say the bay the mob figgaz, turf talk, a wax, hd, j stalin, filthy rich

they have the strongest bay presence they all have they own style and thats what the bay is know for

like bacc in the day the mac dre, e40, too short, spice one, richie rich. groups like luniz, cydal, steady mobbin, rbl posse, Glp

man i miss the 90's bay mob shit the best history in bay areas music

can't listen to many of these new bay artists. what they were rappin' to back in the day is what they were really doing, to where now days it's about the materialistic shit along with money and females. i just respect the fact that the older bay artists were different from todays artists and their whole style and mentality was preeminent, it was more about uniting together and becoming one big family, it was that bay love. where now i see these new artists trying to show off their money buying all the ice, along with the fancy cars and pads in another words trying to act as if they're on that east coast luxury tip, which they are not they should continue to be themselves and represent the west coast, the older artists established the bay properly to say the least.

doubt the bay will ever see or hear anymore artists similar to dre or dubee. dubee and dre had their own unique styles along with their slang makes them untouchable in my book. i don't miss that old rbl 3xkrazy dush tray, coolio da undadogg, dru down, ray luv to name a few because they're always with me. they're time to shine has passed maybe, but with me they'll always continue to get play and recognition from myself.

The reason why Bay rap is "dead" is because the fanbase doesn't support its own. Period. There's been tons of original new blood in the Bay... why then are yall mothafuckas still talking about Mobb Music as if that's what's original? Complaining about a lack of originality while pining for the new generation of rappers to return to Mobb Music (read: being unoriginal) is nonconstructive. The fact of the matter is that if you want Mobb Music, listen to Mobb Music... it's not what's being made in the Bay anymore for a reason. Music evolves, and the Bay evolved a while ago. Y'all just choose not to evolve with it. Where is the widespread support on this board for original and talented Bay Area rappers and groups like Los Rakas, Main Attrakionz, The Jealous Guys, DaVinci, Tuf Luv, Balance, Young Gully, Moe Green, Young L, Locksmith, etc. who have bigger fanbases outside of the Bay than they do here? Y'all don't even support the new blood that keeps the Mobb movement alive (Young Lox, Joe Blow, Show Banga, Livewire, Cousin Fik, etc)... the scene's been alive and kicking for years, its just that some of yall are stuck in the past and wish it was 1995 again. Some of yall are no better than NY purists... might as well call yall Bay purists.

I don't know but E 40 is the best

Dru Down is hella tight to...
I remember when I used to hear him on the radio a lot.
Pimp of the Year.. and Can You feel Me.. those songs
where way better than this bullshit on the radio now..

but if there's new good music like that. I'll check it out and get drunk to it...

nobody in this thread mentioned the real reason. its bc the bay is saturated with the most no name wanna be rappers and producers and most them blocking shine and ruinning for the ones with actual talent. if a outsider checkout five weak rappers in a row then they gonna give up and miss out and not discover the tight ones.

It's dead for the same reasons rap in NYC, LA, the Midwest, and most of the South (i.e. pretty much all rap) is dead.

There is little point trying to figure out what went wrong in the Bay when it was just part of a more general trend

...a shitload of these artists we grew up listening to became a product of their own raps.

Muh fuckaz copped a little bread, & started tootin double-time up their noses, smokin 10x more weed cuz they had the cash to do it, poppin pills & doin' hard dope & lost the creativity & drive they once had.

this is the most accurate assessment. I despise anyone that says there isn't any talent in the bay. I always wondered if smoking to much dank fucked rappers flows up. Cuz theres a lot of bay rappers that could spit back in the days, now not so much

Historically the more dope you do the more creative you are:

See - Jimi Hendrix, Aerosmith, Lil Wayne, Janis Joplin, Beatles, Guns & Roses, The Doors, Allman Brothers, Vincent Van Gogh, Greatful Dead, Killa Tay etc.

I think the problem is too much bullshittin and frontin and not enough actually consumption

IMO - There is nothing else anybody can possibly say that hasn't been said before. If the best things in life have been rapped about what can possibly top that? The industry saturated the fans with glamorizing "Materialistic things". What tops a diamond on earth? What tops the most money you can have? What tops having different women on your dick while giving you ALL the money? What tops owing real estate and vehicles? What rapper teaches you about MAINTAINING all of this LOL? If all the life lessons have been rapped about what can anyone teach? The combination of rappers saying the same thing, cloning one another, recycling tracks, TORRENTS, THE INTENET, has killed the industry and nobody gives a fuck because nothing is NEW. The NET also helped expose the fake and turned a lot of people away from the real. IMO i say what was recorded and sold in the past before the bling era was it and one of a kind. Rap is just not exciting anymore to the fan because they have heard it all at this point. Hip Hop is life and that cannot be stopped so start from the basics and teach the fans something about real life again. IMO Y’all
