The problem HERESY is that "deal" would never have flied. Floyd's offer was to give Pacquiao a $40 million flat fee CUTTING OUT Top Rank whom Pacquiao was and is under contract with, and be promoted by Golden boy. Even if Pacquiao would have accepted he would have been sued by Top Rank and the fight would never have happened because Top Rank would have won in court, easily. This is like when Mayorga signed a deal with someone else while under contract with Don King and King prevented the fight. The offer from Floyd, not only financially at the time was crap but legally it was impossible. Floyd is no dummy. He knew Pac was under contract.
Umm...allow me to introduce a little
critical thinking here...if the issue was about contractual agreement
Manny Pacquiao would have stated that as the number one reason why he didn't accept the offer...but he didn't...he stated that he wanted
50/50 which doesn't make sense considering he isn't in
Floyd Mayweather's position as a fighter/ promoter...Manny is ONLY a fighter...he has never received over
$10 million in PPV money (Floyd got that off the
Miquel Cotto fight)...if Manny received any significant PPV money like Floyd and
Oscar Dela Hoya did it would have been reflective on his
Forbes ledger...Manny made a supposed top side average of
$18 million per fight for
3 fights and tallied up
$56 million and
$6 million off of endorsements...if he would have fought Floyd he would have gotten the extra
$22 million which would have represented his PPV
inside his guaranteed money...that's it that's all. So the contract issue wasn't what
#teampac had brought up...they balked at the PPV black out...
So with the use of critical thinking you break it down like this: Pacquia had
3 fights between
July 11th 2011 and
June 12 2012 (
Shane Mosely,
Juan Manuel Marquez,
Timothy Bradley) netting Manny
$56 million average pr fight
$18 million (which include Manny's PPV money)...then
Bob Arum's take and there you have it. So Floyd's offer was
MORE THAN GENEROUS by giving him a
$40 million guarantee...numbers don't lie bro...only people do.
