How many of you siccness posters, who are somewhat aware of how the American System works, believe that Voting helps you or those close to you? Why do you believe it helps you, for those who don't believe it doesn't help you please Explain.

Personally for me, I don't think it does shit for you. I've seen so much candidates that have bullshitted about doing things, democrat or republican, and it's just recycled garbage. I'm not going to register to vote, so sue me, or buy me a dollar menu burger.

Edit:In my town, there's no hope.

voting doesn't chnage shit, just because there is no difference between the candidates; they will do the same things no matter who wins

Voting isn't just about choosing a candidate, there are measures and propositions which a vote can actually count for...people need to educate themselves.

Is education a proper terms now a days? Or is self informed a better form or "self education"?

LMD1510 is 100% correct. There are a shitload of local bonds and measures that directly effect you and your family. Whether it's approving the build of another school or an affordable housing division. Shit like that touches most of us. I'm glad the majority of the posters on siccness can't or don't vote anyway.

Most city governments override those votes. Like in Seattle, they are fucking the tax payers into paying for the Mariner's field (after they voted against it). I believe they're trying to do the same for the Sonics, and they suck balls.

Also, in the town where I go to school, there was a proposal for a new middle school, and they wanted 50 MILLION dollars (this town has 15,000 residents, WITH students included)...The voters turned it down, and the city said FUCK YOU, we're going to do it anyway.

Hopefully they protest. But most people would rather be at their job or some shit working for the system they talk about hating so much. Luke warm people piss me off.

And I do vote, sometimes, when they don't make me select a fucking party (democrap or republischemes) cause they're both full of shit, then again, who isn't? 95% of politicians are in it for a career, not to help the people.

I agree.

And, I used to believe that voting for a President never made a difference in my life....until Bush got into office.

If that doesn't change your mind about voting in even a miniscule manner, then you're fucking clouded.

City Council overrides things like that on occassion, which I absolutely don't agree with. People would have a fit around here if something like that happenned.

Gore what?

He should have won, and we never will know what he would or would not have done. If you think the world would look at us like they do with Bush in office, AGAIN, clouded.

I think it's good Bush got elected. Now at least some people have opened their fucking eyes and understand how this bullshit system works. Although, virtually nobody is doing anything about it.

Buckle in, cause Iran and Syria are going to be a hell of a ride. I might have to leave. Already told my mom if they instated the draft I was leaving the country...she just smiled.
