WHITE DUDES WITH BRAIDS

I used to have hair to the middle of my bacc and sometimes I had it braided up. No one is trying to be anyone else. Like they been saying, "ITS JUST HAIR!!!!!"

Maybe if YOU were a white male doing this. The only real human culture is the culture which endures change. When different cultures interact you are bound to get exchanges of ideas and ways of dressing, hair, life, etc.

Damn, how many times do I have to put it down? First of all, you are not the flesh. But from the flesh was born culture. The actual life factor that animates the body is beyond and does not endure the change and decay of the flesh. But yet, we falsely mistake ourselves for that which is fleeting and its by-products. In truth, there are *some* people, I am sure, who are doing things to fit into one culture or another. But, for the transcendentalist, there is no interest in belonging to anything that is born of a temporary nature.

White people with braids doesn't look right.
I get my shit braided. Back in Oakland no one gave a fuck that I wasn't black with braids, they used to give me props saying my shit was tight.
I moved out to Portland, Oregon and I'm getting tired of all these black people lookin' at me funny style because of how I dress, talk, and sport braids. I mean shit, you don't see me or my peoples accusing muthaphucka'z of trying to be Polynesian because they have a tattoo.

plus: from what i think i kno thats lock n' load, a white rapper (whos pretty fuckin tight) from lynnwood,wa and a crip, so for the braids and talkin about bein a crip on a CD im sure hes been prepared for the reprecussions.

Actually at the time when the staightening of hair first took place (late 1800's?)---the idea was to look more acceptable (white!) and that was due to years of devilishment and pillaging of the black mind....but also to build a backwards form of self esteem which served its purpose...and is outdated but has become a staple in black culture. As far as cats like me who don't appreciate white boys with braids---i think its the struggle that comes with braids, locks, etc...form the jump until recently black hair styles have been ridiculed or passed off as negative, now all of a sudden because pop culture says shits cool i am supposed to shake it off as its just hair when muthafuckers really was dealt some damage just because of there hair. it will never be that simple.

Southern white folks who have a history of racism have always been known to braid their hair.
Now you might call them hypocrites but I think the reason why they braid their hair is because braids aren't a "black" hair style....
