Newbie poster but old listener:

I have to admit i helped fuck up the bay area music sales by not going to Rasputins and buying it on CD, tape, or even LP since about 2002. I got tired of purchasing junk and downloading at that time was appealing to me. It was amazing you could download everything that was released on Tuesday and for free. I did still buy dollar and fifty cent records since they have more to offer: acapellas, instrumentals, remixes, etc. (Not 50 cent the rapper)

The thing that made me feel really guilty about stop buying music is when i saw a well-known east bay rapper trying to sell me a CD on the side of Rasputins music store! Im talkin more than one person too...

Man is it that bad out here yall? One minute you ridin a big body benz and the next you on foot again? Woah! Reading these boards makes me feel like its all catchin up so i will start going back to Rasputins, dub dub dub dot rap bay, amazon. I hope im not too late. I told my cuz i wouldnt buy a full album but i for sure will pay a buck for a quality song that is relevant.

My friend, you are 1 of many.

The bottom line is that times have changed and artists who depended on selling units as a means of income have to diversify or get left behind. This is the reason why now big name artists are selling you their brand name products as opposed to their music. (Beats by Dre, Quincy Jones Headphones, etc..) Think about it. Build a brand, sell the brand. Selling CD's is dead. Mp3's are soon to follow....Give them the music and sell them the T-shirt...
