Good info Vince V. and Heresy, Thanks. I ain't going to post $hit on SoundClick then. I would assume that maybe Myspace is probably better because atleast you have more of an identity and networking capabilities. I'll rather keep all my beats to myself, until I'm REALLY ready. Or perhaps that day will never come, but atleast I'll still have all my beats. For me it's still a hobby either way. I don't mind the potential for making money though, that's just extra cash and I know you guys are loving it.

Have you guys ever "water-marked" your beats though, for example put a vocal over the beat saying your name and or company? If so, did they still get jacked? I would assume this is the best way to show off your beats online to the public, other than uploading at lower quality. Unless of course, people can listen and re-create it.

dont put any beats online that you have sold already or care about.....they can jacc em off myspace too.....im sure Heresy and Vince didnt have their soundclick beats for free download and someone found a way around that shit......

Soundclick is gettin better though and they have an option for paid download....its only up to $1.25 per dl and they take a cut.... but if you put up some beats you dont really care about for demos and mixtapes you could make a lil money at the same time......they also have an option to put up licensed beats for lease or sale up to 200 for lease 10g's for exclusive.....

heres a lil breakdown of the options on your upload page

What are the chances of being jacked from demos?

Lets say i had a demo and i submitted it to Aftermath or Def Jam etc? How many different people do u think will here it before they reach the main man such as Dre or Russel Simmons/Jay-z?

This might be a hard question to answer. I wanna know what some of yall think though.

^i wouldnt send out any demo of my beats unless they were copyrighted 1st.....im pretty sure you have a bigger chance of an intern or someone workin for them lables hearin your shit and possibly jaccin a beat before Dre or Russel even hear it.....i doubt they even listen to any demos themselves these days unless a few other people close to them already heard it and tell them its somethin worth listenin to.....

Yes, you can make $35k a track and up but you don't just 'get in the game' and start doing it. As far as how many people will hear your beat cd before someone like Dre... No telling. If you just randomly mail a cd in and don't have anyone bringing it in for you, the chances are slim anyone will ever listen to it. I've seen countless packages come in and go straight into the trash unopened. The absolute best way to get into the beat game is NOT by mailing beat cds to everyone, it's by recording hot songs that get heard.

I'm not knocking people who do mail stuff in. If you get lucky and it actually works for you, great man. Just remember, this business is all about friends and politics... The more friends you have and the better you know how the politics work, the more likely your chances are of actually getting somewhere.

And there is DEFINITELY a LOT of money to be made doing commercials, jingles, etc. It's fast easy money all day if you know the right people. You can literally go from broke to buying houses quick.

It probably won't reach those people period. When material is mailed in it is classified as one of two things. One is unsolicited material and the other is solicted material. One get splaced in the trash promptly (unless it is sent in from a connected source I.E. manager or lawyer) and the other is placed on a shelf and probably listend to a week or more down the road.
