I never did nothing bad to him. In fact, after you hooked me up with him I turned other people on to him, and made sure that they dropped our names so he would hook us up in the future for sending him clients. Yeah, 50 aint shit compared to a rack, I know your boy is over there steamin. Everyone I talked to says he is MIA and most likely not coming back.

yeah I never had beef with him either. He's in Kansas last I heard. His family is from there. I don't think he's coming back either.
My boy got over it now, but please believe it will be "funk" on site. lol

Do you guys recommend putting your beats up on SoundClick or other site like that? I have so many that I would like to "show off" and get critiqued on, but the beats I would end up posting up are the ones I'm most proud of and I would hate to get jacked.

I got jacked more times than I can count on SC. Don't do it. Fools actually used to send me songs they did to my beats they didn't pay for. Shit, I been jacked from beat discs too, just tag your beats up either way,

I went through the same thing Vince did on soundclick. People were sending me songs they did with my music, and when I started to tag them it didn't stop. They would simply rap over the shit as if the tags weren't there. I made the top 50 in instrumentals, top 200 in rock/metal and top 50 in another genre (can't remember), but I wasn't making any money or contacts from the site, so I pulled the plug and took the music down.

Getting jacked is part of the music biz now. There is no way to completely get around the shit. You can sell a beat to someone, and that song may get on teh radio, but the artist may actually give the dj's the instrumentals and acepella. At that point, it is possible for every tom, dick and harry to spit over your shit for free, get exposure and make money.

so what u consider the best way to make some money off of beats? The only thing i can think of is to get the shit copyrighted and then start uploading and submitting ur product out to random websites and companies i guess. I'm sure rhymes get jacked all the time as well.

That actually depends on what you want to accomplish, but nothing beats a manager or lawyer who has the proper connects to get your music into the hands of companies/corporations/artists/labels who have a large budget.

The only thing i can think of is to get the shit copyrighted
You have a copyright as soon as the music is in tangible form (cd, dat, dvd, mini disc, tape). You're talking about registration (form S.R., etc.)

then start uploading and submitting ur product out to random websites and companies i guess.
Yeah, you can do that, but some of us don't have the time or patience for that so we let someone else do the legwork.

I'm sure rhymes get jacked all the time as well.
Yep, and not just by indie artists or people surfing the web.

Good info Vince V. and Heresy, Thanks. I ain't going to post $hit on SoundClick then. I would assume that maybe Myspace is probably better because atleast you have more of an identity and networking capabilities. I'll rather keep all my beats to myself, until I'm REALLY ready. Or perhaps that day will never come, but atleast I'll still have all my beats. For me it's still a hobby either way. I don't mind the potential for making money though, that's just extra cash and I know you guys are loving it.

Have you guys ever "water-marked" your beats though, for example put a vocal over the beat saying your name and or company? If so, did they still get jacked? I would assume this is the best way to show off your beats online to the public, other than uploading at lower quality. Unless of course, people can listen and re-create it.

Yes and they still rapped over it as if I had never spoke over it.

And this mixtape shit isn't making it any better. Now days when you submit a cd to a dj for play (a single) you have to put the instrumental on there (especially if it's a hot track) so thats more people with access to your music who can do anything they want with it. Sell it to someone else, have someone else rap over it, rearrange it, etc.

You just have to come to grips with the fact that the only way to ensure your shit is never stolen is if you never let the public hear it, and that defeats the purpose.
