Too Short makes great music. I can still play 'Born To Mack' all the way through today and still love it as much as when I first heard it, if not more.

Ask 100 people who are the best westcoast artists of all time and I guarantee you Too Short will be mentioned more than Yukmouth. Ask which they like better 'Thugged Out' or 'Get In Where You Fit In' and I guarantee you 'Get In Where You Fit In' will be mentioned more. Too Short has been consistantly going gold or platinum with every album and coming tight on every album for 15 years. That takes A LOT of talent, especially considering the fact he had no radio or video support. Sales usually don't equal talent but the fact that Too Short can sell that well off mostly word of mouth means something. People with that much talent don't stay around be successful for that long. Can you honestly say that Yukmouth will be still making music 15 years from now? And do you honestly thing you will still like it? Too Short is considered a legend by a lot of people because he IS a legend. I have NEVER heard Yukmouth referred to as a legend. I wonder why???

You could ask 100 people and they probly wouldnt know who Yuk is. One of the staples of this board is that we all believe that artists we listen to are the shit regardless of album sales or popularity.

Will Yuk be around in 15 years???Maybe, maybe not. My honest opinion is Short is a legend, and always will be, but he shoulda retired after he put out Gettin It.

Its hard to compare Yuk with record sales. Short made platinum sales with no exposure back in the day, but we live in a time where an artist NEEDS more fans because of bootlegging. If I recall Thuglord sold 320k (?) with little promotion and NO radio or television promotion either. That's classic in its own way.

YUK get slapped around the town? thought short lived in atlanta. and i thought yuk and rap-a-lot aint no more? i mean his u.g.a. didnt come out on smok-a-lot because of j prince. and def jam.
also yuk aint say one word bout short then short come out with a song with his lable mate dissin him? what that about. that whole song made short come off sounding like he feel threatined and that he a hater.

short dont got simple flows. he got simple flows lyrics style topics delivery and what ever else you wanna say. shit was creative in the early 90's but since then its like a 5 year old talking bout hoes on a beat.

madd dogg real talk folks, it was easier back then to sell with out radio and tv. now days if you aint on bet or mtv then you aint gon sell shit. different times= needing different angles to sell shit.

short a ledgon but whats that? take richie rich b-legit c-bo they got lyrics flow delivery and style, still. short just talk while saying hoe hoe hoe. he brings record sales cause everybody that bumped his shit back then will buy anything with short on it. they dont look at shit now they still stuck on his first 2 or 3 cd's.

i got of respect for shorts hustle he was one of the best bussness men in the game and he brought cali with him. but that dont make him dope.

tim SALES DONT + YOU BEING DOPE GIVE ME A REASON

I told your dumb ass before I think he's tight BECAUSE I LIKE HIS MUSIC. I've NEVER gotten tired of a Too Short album, there is not a Too Short album that I can't play and enjoy. Yukmouth on the other hand, both of his albums I listened to a few times after they came out and haven't listened to them again nor have I even wanted to. You say all Too Short says is "hoe hoe hoe" well all Yukmouth says is "thug thug thug". His last two albums have been called "Thugged Out" and "Thug Lord" and you have the nerve to say Too Short isn't creative? You say Too Short sounds like a 5 year old but you are defending a rapper who sounds like he needs to clear his throat.

the ghetto, city of dope,i aint trippin, life is,its your life,i want to be free.......come on now man!!!!short only raps about hoes....what the fuck does yuk rap about???.....master p,smokin and thuggin.....what makes somebody a legend ????how about settin trends man....short layed out the whole blueprint for bay rap.....set the foundation....if wasnt for short, yuk might not be the rapper he is today....i guarantee yuk was just like most of us in the bay with too short on in our headphones nonstop soaking up that shit....taking notes and learning lessons.....im trying to think of a good example to give....okay thats like trying to compare yo favorite r and b artist today to james brown or al green....ya maybe the shit sounds a little dated but its still funky.....will we be able to say the same thing in 10 or 15 years about some of these cats thats supposed to be on top of the game.....how old was you when born to mack, life is or short dogs in the house came out???....when i throw that shit on now everybody in the house still nods their heads and knows it word for word, you dont have to skip no tracks ....yuk is tight but you got to give short more credit than your giving him....

TIm obviously not every single song is about bitches. im saying the majority. and still none of those lyrics touched even one of yuk's shitest verses.

clap yo hands was weak. agreed but thats one song. also short still talk. on some tracks he does rap, ill give you that, but most his songs he just talks. short got his own style no disputing that, but what is that style.

and tim your not getting what im saying its just like the whole jay z post from before. you just say i like him cause i like him.

everybody who dont feel yuk's ruff voice thats fine. but not one damm thing short dropped can fuck with the luniz first cd or second or bootlegs and b-sides. the skill that yuk has and shows is why short dissed him with face. face the same as short, they have been around for ever and there style is old as fuck. face basically just talk to sept in an anoying voice. i like short on some features but i just cant sit down and listin to a whole cd, i just cant get into it. face i cant listin to what so ever. you take the song with crooked I face and treach on too gangsta for radio. face fucked that song up. its tight sept when he raps.

i think to many people are stuck on to many old artist and there old ass styles to give any new artist a chance.

alot of new cats got heat but everybody like well it aint old short. MR. kee spit fire his last cd was unbeliveable. yuk the albulation was sicc as fuck.

its like people saying they dont feel spice 1 or c-bo anymore, why cause they got beats and they have inproved everything the've done. shit aint changed its just people stuck on the past.

spice 1's last 3 cd's i can play all the way thru just like i can play his old ones all the way thru, same with c-bo's shit, i feel enemy of the state was c-bos best work every track is heat. not average, heat. but people wasnt feelin it cause they said it wasnt "old bo" who gives a fuck what the date is on it give artist now a chance and stop using dates on cds to hate on shit.

TIM i was going overboard saying the only thing short rap about is hoes, i was just trying to get my point across. Even though i dont feel he lyrical what so ever he has touched on some deep shit.

so what song was it that started all this shit???

also it was true what e-dubbalicious said, yuk wasted too much time, energy and lyrics on master p.

the rest of his shit, for the most part is cool though.

goddamn tim and proppa, i think trying to prove how tight short and yuk is to each other is reaching a point of no return...

in my book, short is definetely the shit. no doubt.

as for yuk, his shit so far is tight....will see if he can last.....

Tim do you understand opinions?

We fucking know you like Short better. I like them both. I dont give a fuck if you like or dislike Yukmouth and how much YOU think he only raps about thug.

And if you dont get tired of "Chase The Cat", youre either lying or not in touch with music thats tens of times better than that CD.

They are both tight. Shut the fuck up.

You're the 1st and only person I've ever read say that SPICE 1 dissed YUK.
i think he did diss Yuk. on that track 'Touble' with Too Short and J-Dubb, Short was dissin the Luniz and i think Spice is talking about them as well (but unlike Short, he doesn't say their name).

i'm gonna try and sum up this beef :
i think Dru Down talked about Short first on 'mista busta'. then the Luniz dissed Short on 'playa hata'. Short came back with that 'trouble' track as well as 'never talk down' with Rappin 4-Tay. this caused Luniz to diss 4-Tay on 'killaz on the payroll'. around this time, Short and his homies put a beat-down on someone connected to the luniz. they squashed the beef with that 'funkin over nothin'. but then scarface and yuk dissed them again on 'longevity', then Yuk dissed Short again on 'regime killaz 2000'. there haven't been any more songs made but i don't think that they're cool right now.
